This was a beautiful house with a gorgeous view. Heather was lovely to deal with. The kitchen was stocked perfect with everything we needed without being over cluttered.
This house was wonderful in every respect, but the view was so spectacular it made it very hard to leave the porch. The property manager, Heather, was the very best we have ever had at a VBRO stay. Extremely quick with responses to inquiries and very helpful in every way. And Waynesville and the entire surrounding area was a joy to explore!
The Tuckaway house is just that. Tucked away, nestled in the woods with great views, tons of hummingbirds, silence, and a well stocked, clean home. Very comfortable furniture and all the amenities you can think of. Definitely our top choice in the area. Close enough to pretty much everything you want to see. Thank you for a great property!
Property was great well stocked and very quite. driveway was a little steep for us flatlanders but we managed. That' what provided the fantastic view. Our host Heather was great and always responded to any questions.
Tuckaway far exceeded our expectations (and we have high ones)! The house was exceptionally clean, well appointed and equipped. We will definitely be back!
Beautiful home and amazing view. There was no hot water due to the filter being clogged. The owner was contacted Saturday but did not get someone there to repair until Sunday at 9:00 the day of check out. We had to leave for airport. My husband fortunately was able to clean it Saturday evening to provide my visitors with hot water before they left.
This home has it all, gorgeous views, well equipped and spacious kitchen, homey and comfortable furnishings and immaculately clean! We would definitely stay here again and plan on coming back next fall. It far exceeded our expectations!
Our family loved this home.so much.beautiful.pictures doesn't even begin to justify it's beauty.it was so clean.and had everything you needed.our host Heather was very helpful.we want to come back in the fall you have the most beautiful views of the mountains absolutely gorgeous can't wait to stay there again
We traveled from the triple digits of summertime heat in central Texas, picked up our daughter from the panhandle of warm and humid Florida to spend some time together in a cooler new area (temperature & adventure).
We were drawn to this home by the mountain views from the photos, it's proximity to walking/hiking trails, and being pet welcoming of our two well behaved/kennel trained labradors. This home proved to be a great choice for us. It was well stocked with kitchen utensils to cook breakfast, lunch or dinner. A washer and dryer and TV's in every room. It's the little touches of labeling the light switches so you know which one you need. Even though we were a small group of three, it was a perfect size home to be together or room to spread out.
Spending three nights here gave us time to relax, refresh and regroup before heading back to the daily grind of life. Thanks

Visited with family of five for vacation. House is high enough on Utah Mountain for great views off deck but not so high that it takes forever to drive up/down. The house had plenty of space and sleeping options to keep everyone happy. We also loved the location. It sits roughly between entrance to park and Asheville. The house was clean and easy to check in/out. I would recommend it and stay again.
We arrived late into the night on the date of our check-in, and were pleasantly reaffirmed that we made the right choice in our booking decision.
Everything was neatly organized and conveniently labeled, leaving no real-time questions unanswered, and for any questions that did come up over the course of the weekend, the host was quick to respond. Further, everything was immaculately clean upon our arrival.
This home was cozy, warm, and welcoming, and the mountain view from the deck was breathtaking. Highly recommended!
This was an amazing property!! All of our needs were met & everything is SO organized. I would highly recommend it to anyone!! We will definitely visit again!
The reviews here do not lie... We found everything to be as pleasant as described! The mountain climb was high but the roads up were excellent and GPS had no trouble getting us right to it... We loved the coffee filters and baggies/foil/etc. that were offered, and a great mix of adult and kid (plastic) dish ware.
We did lose power for a few hours due to high winds (just beware that it can happen) and the hot tub did not warm up for our first two days, but the owner was able to walk us through a code sequence to reset the heater.
Also beware that the garage is on the lowest level, so there are steep steps up to the porch outside or the main level inside from the walkout basement, which could make suitcase hauling difficult for some.
The double-decker decks with great rocking chairs is where we spent most of our time in the day-long sunshine.
Proximity to Waynesville and Maggie Valley were perfect... about a 20 min drive to everything you could want/need.
Would rent this property in a heartbeat again!
I don't generally write reviews because my family is kind of picky and my reviews can make a place sound worse than it is, but I wanted to post a review for the Tuckaway House because this is one of the nicest places we have rented.
The house is beautiful- nicely furnished, everything works, and it has a well-equipped kitchen. The best part is the porch. We thoroughly appreciated eating on the porch and just sitting out there enjoying the beautiful view and the cool mountain air that is the opposite of the smothering wet heat we have this time of year in the south Georgia Lowcountry. Mornings on the porch were great, just watching the fog clouds appear, change shape, and roll over the ridges. This location is convenient to a lot of nice parts of western NC including the sites in Waynesville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherokee, the Cataloochee Valley, and it is an easy drive to Asheville. My picky family highly recommends it!
This house was everything we hoped it would be and more! Actually, it is even better than the pictures and description online. It is one of the most well stocked kitchens Ive ever been to and the house is overall really well equipped. My only recommendation to make it better is being more transparent about the drive up to the house. We have a larger SUV but it put in some OT in low gear to make it up the mountain and the driveway to this house. Thankfully most of the way was paved but we would only make a trip a day due to the steepness and impact to our vehicle. I think a forewarning in the description could be added as my mom’s car couldnt make the climb and she had to leave it at the local Publix. I would go back though but just more prepared for that because it was a great stay.
This house was perfect. It was spotless and the views and the house itself were beautiful. It was the most well stocked place we have ever stayed in. They truly thought of everything! We got stuck there an extra day because of the snow storm and the owner could not have been more helpful and accommodating. We had the greatest time! Definitely stay here if you have the chance!
The view is awesome- The drive up and down a real challenge- fortunately I have a Range Rover.Would go again but for shorter period— we are 65&78

Dustin, Allison, and their son Carson, live and work in Key West, Florida. Dustin is and an Attorney, Allison is a teacher, and Carson is an on-the-go two year old! In their spare time, they enjoy all manner of outdoor activities. It is that love of the outdoors that led them to begin vacationing in the Waynesville/Asheville area a few years ago. After hiking together as a family to waterfalls in the Pisgah National Forest, hiking throughout the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, and just relaxing on the deck taking in the mountain views, they realized what a special spot this was and decided to put down root in the area.
