About this property

Overlooking the Ocean with Large Porch

The Barnstable sits on a hill that overlooks the ocean and has a beautiful view from its new large front porch. The Barnstable is set back from the shore on the highest point of land in Flood's Cove. As with many of the cottages in Flood's Cove, there is a large, full length, covered porch where you can sit back, rock and dine with your friends and family all the while you have a picturesque view of the ocean that opens before you.

The Barnstable is part of Flood's Cove, a 68 -acre private oceanfront resort with a private island.

The front lawn is very large and provides a wonderful place to play games and relax with your family. Many a croquet game has been played on this lawn.

Upon entering the Barnstable from the large porch you find a large common room that contains the living room, dining room and easy sitting area with a massive center field stone fireplace. Once the native rocks that make up the very large fireplace heat up, it keeps the entire area cozy and warm. For spring and Fall, there is also a supplemental propane heater that helps keep the Barnstable warm. There is a large country kitchen that is fully equipped. There is a large table in the great room that can accommodate 8-10 people.

There is also a first floor bedroom with a queen bed, a half bath and a separate work area that has been used as a painting and drawing area.

You ascend to the second floor via a large staircase that can be accessed from two locations on the first floor. Once on the second floor you find yourself facing a full bath and four very large bedrooms. The bedrooms located in the front of the Barnstable have a full view of the ocean. The four upstairs bedrooms contains two queen beds and four single beds. The large chimney for the center fireplace runs directly through the second floor to the roof.

The Barnstable is also on the head of the walking trail that takes you to the second swimming area (Beatress Bay), large rocks that you can lay out on and enjoy the sun or walk to the tidal clam flats. The trail is also the gateway to our 11 acre private island "Pa's Island". There is a trail that goes all the way to the point of the island where there is a super cool private "secret" gazebo for a picnic or secluded reading time.

If you need a large, spacious and beautiful place to vacation the Barnstable is for you!

The property has been in the "Flood" for over a hundred years. It used to belong to a sea captain that sailed and fished off of the Grand Banks. Over the past hundred years, the Flood family has created an oceanfront family vacation destination. We rent seven oceanfront summer homes. We also offer two beaches, playground, boats, kayaks and lots of tasty lobster, wine, and killer ocean sunsets.

What makes this property unique

About ten miles from Waldoboro, twenty miles from Camden, forty miles from Freeport and the home of L.L. Bean, and fifty miles from Portland. Join the generations of families that agree this is the most relaxing traditional ocean front Maine vacation you will ever find.
