About this property

Traditional converted Venetian forthouse

This unique Venetian fort house was built in 1700 by its owner Tomasso Neri. His daughter married a Greek man named Parodos and ever since it is known as the Parodos Fort house. Through the years its been inhabited by a lot of people and used in many different ways, making history, such as a girl's school, the teacher's house, up to our family.
The fort house is decorated authentically to keep the atmosphere, the memories and its history vivid. It combines tradition alongside with contemporary living, amenities and comforts.
The main house consists of 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 guest wc, kitchen, 2 living rooms , 2 fire places and 3 terraces. Terraces are fully equipped with external lounges, sun beds and dinning areas under the colourful bougainvilleas and leafy vineyards. There is big garden full of citrus trees , allocated in different levels. The guest house is located in the garden facing the swimming pool. Its a one bed room, one bathroom apartment with a fully equipped kitchenette. The swimming pool area is the most relaxed part of the house , located amongst hortansias, oleander and beautiful magnolia trees. Sun beds and numerous hammocks are provided and are ideal for afternoon siestas. We have a bio vegetable, fruit and herb garden where we grow our own local seasonal greens for our guest to enjoy! We annually make homemade lemonades and jams!
Last but not least there is a private chapel ideal for private ceremonies as well as a children's playground. As far as children are concerned, the house is as baby safe as can be, as i'm a mother of two! There are baby proof doors on every staircase inside the house and on the terraces. Playmats, baby cots, high eating chairs, toys, both english and greek books ages 0-3 are available, as well as activity table and chairs, swings, slide and a sand pit!
This fort house is ideal for families or a group of friends who want to combine nature's tranquility together with the town's life. It is located in the picturesque village of Lamyra, only 2 km away from Andros town, known as Chora. There one can find shops, museums, cafes, bars and restaurants. Nearest beaches are 10-15 minute drive away.

Beautiful outside space and house of character

We had a lovely stay in this unique place. The communication with the host was easy and very pleasant. She did everything to make our stay enjoyable. The terraces are all comfortably furnished and I really enjoyed watching the sunrise over the sea from one of them. The pool is really a treat ! It is great to pick your tomatoes and other vegetables in the garden! You should know that there are around 80 steps to reach the house and another 40 to reach to beautiful top bedroom. You come back in great shape!!! The only thing I would improve is the bedding; some of the single mattresses have springs that are uncomfortable and poke through. (The other mattresses are very firm which is fine). There are only 3 bedrooms in the main house. The other 2 single beds are actually sofas in the main living room. The washing machine is tricky. The island is a gem and not touristic yet. Enjoy it while it lasts! I would definitely recommend this place!

Magnifique

Wonderful hillside Andros house

We loved our stay! The charming multi-level house is tucked on a hillside wIth panoramic views of the valley and the Aegean Sea. The interior has the feel of a Greek country home and was well maintained. The grounds and pool are lovely and we spent much of our stay outside on one of the several terraces. The property is on a network of old trails and you can hike all over the island. The nearby seaside town of Chora is pretty and has good restaurants and all the essentials . Our host was very nice and responsive. All in all, highly recommended for a relaxed Greek Island getaway.

Impressive Building

Overall we liked our stay very much. Although there is no AC it is never too warm since the building itself is so massive that it never heats up. Also, there is almost always wind. The nicest thing about it is the garden. Absolutely beautiful. The pool is also nice and the whole property which is huge is very well maintained. We loved our stay there and can reccomend it for sure.
