About this property

This unique rustic English farm house sits on 5 acres boasting big beautiful redwood trees and a 1/4 acre working flower garden.
This original Gene Callahan custom home built in the early 90’s offers a full kitchen, two bedrooms (one king bed and one queen bed), full bath with colossal claw foot tub and separate shower, wood fireplace, multiple day beds and of course high-speed internet and smart tv.
Kick back and relax on the front porch, Enjoy a picnic outside or sit by the fire pit and watch the stars.
There is a large flower garden on the property and you are invited to frolic amongst the flowers but please do not pick them!
The property is secluded yet still easy to get to. 15 minutes from the airport, 5 minutes to Moonstone or Trinidad state beach and just a short drive to the national parks.
We’re just outside town so Easy access to our local grocery market, restaurants and shops. Don’t forget to check out the lighthouse!!
The owner lives in the same gated compound with her sweet guardian dog, Honeybear, at the bottom of the hill but privacy will always be respected.

Nice quiet stay by redwoods

A cute restored farmhouse in the country, about ten minutes from highway 101 and less than 20 minutes from the Eureka/Arcata airport. Heather was very good about responding to my messages quickly, and has a nicely stocked rental. She lives just down the driveway, but gave us privacy while we were there for our six day vacation. She has brochures about things to do, and many suggestions in the welcome binder. It was a great place for us to stay as we explored the redwood parks and oceanside trails.

Great escape

Relaxing and quiet

Perfect end to our stay in California. This location is convenient to everything Northern California has to offer. This VRBO has everything you need and more in an idealistic setting. We all enjoyed our stay. Only suggestion is mattress toppers for the bed as we found them to be a little hard. Highly recommend.

Peaceful Retreat

We absolutely loved our stay at Heather's charming cottage! Heather is a wonderful host, very friendly, great communication, and went above and beyond providing breakfast treats that were absolutely delicious! The house is fabulous - impeccably decorated and so comfortable. Next time we are in northern California, we will definitely stay here again!!

A Visit to the Redwoods

My family of 5 selected this lovely cottage to stay in as we experienced the many State and National parks that surround it. Just a short drive to so many natural wonders. The cottage is perfectly managed by Heather and she is the kindest host. It was a dream to stay in her cozy cottage and I can’t wait to return. Bonus note…the kitchen is set up so well for cooking and the beds are so comfortable. Thank you Heather for sharing your cottage.

Quiet and peaceful escape with a beautiful flower garden

We chose this property based on it's proximity to Redwood National & State Parks. We wanted something quiet and serene to come home to after a long day of hiking. We also wanted to be close to restaurants and shopping. We found the perfect place! Heather was great to work with and her description of this place was spot on. The kitchen was fully stocked for any cooking you may wish to do. There were plenty of linens and towels. The beds were super comfy with numerous pillows. Her flower garden was amazing! Trinidad was close and convenient with a grocery store, restaurants and shops. Be sure to visit the Trinidad beach at sunset. You will not be disappointed should you chose to stay here!

Cozy Country Charm

Heather was a great host. She kept us up to date from booking to checkout and assured us she was just a few minutes away if we needed her. The house was a perfect country home for us as we explored the area redwoods and beach. Trinidad was a great jumping off point for our daily adventures. We loved the woodburning stove and it added to the charm of the house and took the chill off the cool nights It was a perfect cozy retreat for the two of us.

Charming cottage in the redwoods

You truly feel that you are in your own world at this home. Heather has done a wonderful job stocking the cabin with everything you could need and is very accessible. It’s the cleanest home that we’ve ever stayed in. All of the appliances are brand new. There’s plenty of room for a large family. The view from the bathtub is breathtaking. Huge yard for the kids to play and a beautiful flower garden to explore. Weathers perfect for the fire pit set up. Quick drive to lots of beaches and restaurants. We can’t wait to come back again thanks Heather !

Nice and quiet stay

Had a great stay while seeing the local sites. Especially liked the extra touches of the record player and some basic food on our arrival that was unexpected (muffins, etc). If there was anything that I would say to be aware of is that the King bed is upstairs away from the one bathroom in the house (next to the 2nd bedroom). When nature calls in the middle of the night just know you will have to head downstairs. Not sure it would make sense to move the king to the downstairs bedroom (smaller and less view) so no fault there, but something folks should be aware of is all. Had a great time with a great host. Would certainly not hesitate to visit again.

Total Treasure

This rental was an absolute delight from the moment we pulled in. It looks like a little English cottage nestled in the amongst the redwoods. The decor is simply wonderful throughout! So comfortable and unique in every way. Tons of pillows and blankets to make it cozy. Roomy and although there is only one bathroom, it is spacious and well equipped so that it works for a crowd. Heather was a treat to work with and made sure everything was in perfect order for our arrival. The loft area was ideal for our grandkids and the bed cushions she had there were so nice that I am now on the hunt to find some just like it! The kitchen was fully equipped and everything was stored in such a fun way to make it completely usable space and adorable to look at. We would come back any time. This is a wonderful little getaway so treat yourselves and take advantage of oen memorable place to stay!

My name is Heather and I’ve spent years in the service industry cooking and baking as well as teaching yoga and gardening. Currently I have a mini flower business making bouquets for local people. I’m really excited about creating a space for folks to get away and relax with friends and loved ones while enjoying beautiful Humboldt County.

Why they chose this property

This property is unique as it sits just above the coastal fog line and although it is surrounded by trees it gets a lot of sun. It is close to excellent beaches and the town of Trinidad but just enough away that you can really feel at peace. At night you can often hear the ocean and sometimes owls and it’s a wonderful place to view the stars.

What makes this property unique

The home is unique in that it is mainly built with wood harvested from the property as well as lots of vintage windows and trim from old Victorians in the area. The claw foot tub is also a relic from an old Victorian. The steep pitch of the roof is a trademark of the architect, Gene Callahan.

The property is unique in that it has a nice open clearing in the trees with lots of sun and space while also having plenty of large Redwoods and Doug Fir featured throughout, towering above the plentiful alder, fern, cascara and rhododendrons.
