About this property

Island Paradise on Lake Winnepasaukee - BOAT REQUIRED

This spectacular private home sits on the calm side of Rattlesnake Island with a southern exposure and gorgeous views from every room. The island is easily accessible by private boat. Island living is amazing as it is so peaceful and rarely bugs or mosquitos!

We rented houses all over Lake Winnepasaukee for 15 years and when we rented this one we knew we had to buy it! What makes this house so special is that it sits out over the water with views from every room making it cheerful even on rainy days. We have a Boat House (which is very rare) a large dock for sunbathing with stairs and ladder access into the crystal clear water. There is docking for two boats. Towns, restaurants and grocery store can all be accessed by boat. Car parking is in Alton at the Rattlesnake Island private lot.

We do a lot of entertaining, so the kitchen and pantry are fully stocked along with gourmet cookware, gadgets, serving pieces and dishes. The dining table outside sits 8 and has a retractable awning to block the sun or rain. The dining table inside seats 8 and the granite island seats 4. Sliding doors on all sides of the house and large wood ceiling fans keep the house cool and comfortable. We also have air conditioning for those hot summer nights.
The covered porch with double size swing bed is a favorite spot to read or nap and the potted flowers on all the decks are gorgeous. House is baby proofed with easy to use gates on the deck.
The master bedroom has 3 sliding doors facing east and south for amazing views right from your bed! The deck off the master has a large bed to relax and enjoy the view. Master bathroom features granite countertops, double sinks, glass shower and bidet. Guest rooms all have sliding glass doors and ceiling fans. The loft bedroom has spectacular views and has two double beds and 1 double futon. The guest bath has granite countertops and glass shower. The utility room off kitchen has a washer and dryer.
Waterskiing/wakeboarding is amazing right from the dock as we are in a well protected area.
The bass fishing is also fantastic right off the dock.
Rattlesnake Island is a 2 mile long island on Lake Winnepasaukee which has 300 homes lining its shores. The island has the highest point on the entire lake making for spectacular views from its summit. Rattlesnake Island has a hiking trail that runs down the spine of the island. It is one of the most sought after hiking trails on the lake, but access to the island is limited to residents.

Family Vacation

What a great way to spend a family vacation. We had 5 adults and one child. The house was the perfect size, as we were not bumping into each other and everyone had their own bedroom which also gave us all some privacy. The lake was very clean and the water crystal clear. My granddaughter even made friends with the little girl next store. Island living was a little different as you really have to be organized with your groceries. The owner even came out to the island from Vermont to fix the water pump. Cindy and Dean were very approachable and helpful. Thank you for a vacation memories that we will never forget.

Incredible Lake Winnipesaukee Island Experience

Modern well appointed Island Property on Americas most beautiful lake. Everything (and more) that you need to experience the Lake including great docking and a boathouse. You need to be an experienced boater to do this but that's part of the fun isn't it. Very friendly and responsive owner helped enormously. The flock of wild turkeys who visited regularly only added to fun. 6 Stars........

Little bit of everything

Great family vacation. My husband and I have a blended family and children range in ages from 9-24. Everyone had a wonderful time! Fishing was great! Hiking and views were amazing! The town of Wolfboro was about 10-15 minutes away. Cindy and Brian were very accommodating and responsive to any questions and concerns that we had! I highly recommend this property for any age!

Loved the stay!

Beautiful house, larger than the pictures. We had a great 4 night stay on this beautiful island. The house was well-equipped with more than we needed. Easy grocery access in Wolfeboro. The water mat was endless fun for our two kids, 8 and 11. We all voted this trip as a top getaway (and we value our trips). Cindy responded right away when we had a few questions during booking and prior to arrival. Fast deposit return.

Summer vacation

My family enjoyed a lovely week on Rattlesnake Island. The home is very clean and accommodating. We docked our 35' boat at the slip in plenty of reasonably calm water. We used to boat house to dock a couple Waverunners the family enjoyed using as well as our paddle boards. We fished off the dock, relaxed on the floating mat, barbecued on the deck and enjoyed swinging on the porch swing. We hiked the trails behind the house and found amazing views of our favorite lake. All and all we had a great week and would recommend this rental.

Perfect island getaway

We had an absolutely wonderful time. The property was incredible. Perfect island location. We were able to take kids skiing/tubing virtually in front of home with very limited boat traffic. A plus. The island is incredible. We were able to hike everyday. Views from the top absolutely beautiful. The owners, Cindy and Brian were great to deal with and provided great guidance about both the island and the lake. The house had every amenity and then some. The kids and adults enjoyed the swim mat/raft connected to the dock. Another plus. Hoping to book this home next year for vacation.

Amazing home with incredible views

From the minute we booked, Cindy was extremely responsive. All the area details and restaurant recommendations made the entire experience seamless. When you arrive at the home, it is welcoming with beautiful home details. Even though you are on an island you feel at home. The spacious home with all the modern amenities leaves you feeling relaxed and comfortable. The owners have provided all the extra water toys for hours of fun on the lake. Couldn’t have asked for a better vacation. Days on the lake and nights are relaxing on the oversized decks. You haven’t seen a lake sunset until you experience nights at this home. Weather relaxing from porch swing or deck chairs you won’t be disappointed. Anyone Looking for a great family home to enjoy the island life can’t pass this one over. You will create many memories with your family and friends.

Excellent!

We enjoyed a wonderful week of spectacular weather, a well equipped, well appointed home and accessible friendly, accommodating hosts! The house is south facing, the sunsets beautiful, the expansive decks invite you to enjoy the outdoors. The lake is clean, water toys are plentiful and there is an amazing hiking trail right out the back door. We highly recommend this property!

Beautiful place well appointed

Dock, boat house, and deck swinging chairs were all very nice however didn’t get to enjoy them much due to the lousy weather. Not their fault. Open kitchen, dining and living room kept everyone connected which was nice. Linens, beds bathroom, well stocked kitchen, furnishings and extra water toys were all very nice. Only knocks was the ac didnt work and the dryer took 3 hours to dry towels. With wet humid weather we melted at times and hang drying towels was not possible. The home did have lots of fans. Worth noting the house was not advertised as having AC. Weather cleared on our last day so the owners graciously gave us a few extra hours to leave the home. Island parking was convenient. Communication with owners was very good and timely. Overall very nice place and experience.

This home is lovely, and the views are stunning.

The house has really nice finishes and plenty of room. The water can be seen from inside the house through huge glass sliding doors and from the large deck. There’s a dock for swimming and space for 2 boats, including a boat house which is really nice. We met the owners, and they are very friendly and accommodating. It’s an island, and obviously you can’t drive there, so there are some logistical issues like having to boat there, getting supplies and working around bad weather. The location is both relaxing and fun, close to Wolfeboro and Alton Bay, and we really enjoyed our stay!
