We had such a great time. The cottage was super clean and had everything we needed. The summer temps were warm when we were there and were so grateful for all the fans and dehumidifier, making it very comfortable inside. Loved the outdoor dining as well. Highly recommend!
A great summer cottage surrounded by trees and a short walk to the cove beach area. It was very quiet and peaceful. The cottage had all the necessary "stuff" for a relaxing and self contained stay.
A charming and comfortable cottage in a fabulous Maine Coastal location. The scenic cove was a peaceful surprise. We had a wonderful stay and plan to come back!
This is a classic old Maine cottage, with wonderful screen porches and comfortable, somewhat rustic living room and kitchen. Fully furnished with all conveniences. Comfortable double beds and bunk bed room ideal for kids. Lovely deck with old teak chairs and table for a classic picnic or lobster dinner on the deck. The nearby beach is sandy but entrance is rocky- fun for dogs and kids to climb around - private and quiet. The narrow hilly path to the beach at the end of the gravel road is not conducive to bringing your kayak down, as described, but it is a very short walk from the cottage and definitely worth a visit or a full day outing. Very friendly caretakers and owners! The cottage was damp from weeks of rain when we arrived - that was unavoidable - and in a few hours the caretaker arrived (super cheerfully!) with a new dehumidifier. Lovely hosts.
Sloop Nellie is the best of both worlds, the quiet beach just down the hill from the cottage and some of the best restaurants on the face of the earth a short drive away. Pemaquid Point is a lovely spot. Damarascotta a wonderful small town w/restaurants and shops. We love our yearly stays there.
This light, bright, and cheerful spot, with its flowers and woodsy setting just minutes from a small, shared beach was perfect for my family gatherings, which included ages 4 to 92 - and was especially handy as there was access via the garage with just a step up or two. Everything was thoughtfully arranged, communication was great, and I enjoyed walking down towards the beach with my little dog to see the sunrise in the morning. An exceptional property!
What a delightful location, with the lovely little beach and beautiful river view just steps away. I really appreciated the upbeat, light décor and the layout that added a feeling of spaciousness and air. A wonderful stay (and I’ve stayed at dozens of spots in the area)!
The cottage is exactly as advertised. The cove is a treasure. The only problem with our stay was the queen sized bed. The mattress was very uncomfortable. My husband and I woke up with back aches every day.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sloop Nellie cottage. The cottage was decorated in shabby chic decor and was well stocked with most anything you would need for your stay! The front and side porches were comfy and relaxing, especially in the evenings when it cooled down. The deck and large table were perfect for cracking and eating lobsters and with the S Bristol Fisherman’s co op just minutes down the road, lobsters, clam chowder and oysters were readily available!
The jewel on the crown though was the little crescent tidal beach at the end of the road! Beach combing, relaxing and swimming were all just “down the road!” Picturesque views and great beach finds made this a fabulous vacation spot.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the cottage. There were lots of comfortable spots from the living room, the dining room, the deck and the 2 screened in porches. We each had our own nook, the side porch with the cozy wicker furniture was a favorite. The gardens were beautiful and I particularly liked the flower boxes off the deck rail. We explored the area, hiking at Tracy's Shore, rented kayaks at Maine Kayak, checked out the full moon rising over the ocean at the cove beach and and shopped in Damariscotta. We ate lobster at South Bristol Fisherman's Coop, as well as Shaw's Wharf. The cottage was well- equipped and comfortable, in a beautiful setting.
We have stayed here several years in a row and enjoyed
every minute. The house is cozy and well equipped with everything you would need. We look forward to coming back next year.!
Wonderful old Maine cottage. Very comfortable and well equipped.
The kitchen has everything you could possibly need.
Love the nearby fishing village in all of its beauty.
The town of Camden is about an hour and our favorite place. Be sure to eat at The Waterfront.
Also a great lunch is at The Pub in Damarsscotta.
There are some nice hikes nearby. Ask Linda where they are.
Go to the seafood coop nearby for lobsters and other seafood.
You’ll enjoy your stay in The Sloop Nellie.
We have vacationed there every year, since 2007, except for 2020. We love everything about our stay there. We are on the beach and out to restaurants and running around the area, we feel at home. We love it there.
Our stay was magical! We enjoyed every minute. The cottage was well stocked with everything we needed. The short walk to the beach was the best though, we kayaked and swam throughout our stay. Heather was accommodating and super responsive. We would love to stay again!
Our family had a nice vacation! This cute old summer house is well equipped and comfortable. We enjoyed the cove at the end of the road and relaxing on the deck. Pemiquid beach is a great spot… especially for the little one. We also explored a couple local hiking trails.
A few helpful tips. 1. The house is not baby proof but we did fine with our nine month old grandson. He gets around a lot so just had to watch him closely. 2. We did not find lobster pots, nor do I think the small stove would have been able to accommodate them. Fortunately local lobster pounds will do the seaming for you. 3. The only negative part of our experience was the leaving. A 10am check out is not very practical with the amount of clean up expected. Even with beginning the night ahead, we were tight on time in the morning. To add to the stress of getting out, the cleaning lady showed up right away letting us know we were supposed to be out. My suggestion would be to extend check out or reduce check out responsibilities. It was a bummer to end our week that way.
We had a very nice stay, any issues ( empty propane tank and a blown fuse) were taken care of the same day, this is a very very quiet area, private street and beach, we would definitely go here again as we enjoy the quiet, a great bonus is being able to bring your dog. Kitchen has anything you could need, lots of cleaners and bathroom well supplied also. Thank you Heather for this nice, cozy place.
Great week in a comfy cottage in South Bristol, ME
We had a thoroughly relaxing week long stay at the Sloop Nellie Cottage. The cottage felt homey with all of the windows, the comfortable beds and couches, and the fully equipped kitchen. During our stay, we enjoyed grilling on the spacious deck, hanging out in the enclosed screened-in porches with a cool breeze, sitting at the dining room table with all of the windows, and taking a short walk to a truly beautiful view of the water. After spending some time driving around the area, we would highly recommend visiting and shopping at the following locations: Pemaquid Point Lighthouse (don't forget your picnic lunch! There are many picnic tables, perfect for a lunch outdoors at a gorgeous location!), Pemaquid Craft Co-Op, Granite Hall Store, and Walpole Barn. Also, we highly recommend eating at Shaw's Fish and Lobster Wharf Restaurant, Osier's Wharf, Round Pond Coffee and Abundant Bakery. Oh, and the fact that dogs were welcomed is a definite plus!
We stayed here with 3 adult grandsons who we had not seen since pre-covid. It was the perfect place to do this. There were many wonderful places for the guys to walk, the kitchen was very well equipped for me to cook and .spoil. So many beautiful scenic intersting places nearby for us all to visit, inclulding wonderful Boothbay Harbor, and a nice table to gather for games. Internet was a necessity but the TV was never turned on!. Not to mention that the cottage is so cute and warm and welcoming. Can you tell it was a great week?
We have stayed at this lovely Kings Cove cottage for a number of years. It's secluded location offers relaxation while still being close to various entertainment and sightseeing opportunities. It's definitely a little piece of heaven.
