Not as Advertised
Owner list home as having two bathrooms. We confirmed with owner there was a downstairs bathroom as our elderly parents were traveling with us and could not do stairs. Checked in to find there was only a half bath downstairs and no shower/tub. VRBO says a listed bathroom must have these. Interestingly, owner list same property on another site with 1.5 bath. We couldn’t expect parents to go five days without a shower. Had to leave immediately to find a hotel (neither easy or cheap as it was West Point grad week). Reached out to owner to ask her to do the right thing and at least return part of payment as she inaccurately presented the home. No luck. Her actions resulted in us losing a substantial payment for a home we couldn’t stay in, cost for four hotel rooms, expenses for dining out (we brought groceries which we also wasted), And most frustratingly, forced us to move further away from West Point and have less time with him during grad week. Again, compare this listing to the other listing and you will see several inconsistencies. Feel very taken advantage of. If owner had been honest months ago when we asked to confirm a downstairs bathroom, we would have had time to cancel and rebook somewhere that our parents could have stayed With us. Owner does not care about doing the right thing or the large, unexpected expense she put on our family...only in keeping our money.
