I can’t say enough about this cabin or the hosts. This was our fifth time here and we just absolutely love it. It is so relaxing and beautiful. We will continue to visit as often as we can.
Our 2nd time staying here. Cabin is perfect, big front porch connecting to outdoor great room with stone fireplace, gives you multiple places to sit and listen to the sounds of the river, watch birds/animals, and admire three top mtn. Looking forward to returning soon.
This is our 4th time at this cabin and we enjoy it every time. The stillness, the trickling of the river and the birds flitting by the feeders just makes it such a nice place to be. The kitchen is very well equipped. The proximity to downtown West Jefferson and the state park, and a stop at Ingles makes it location most desirable. Would highly recommend.
This is our second time at the cabin. We love the outdoor living space, where we enjoy watching the wildlife. My husband loves to fish in the river right in front of the cabincabin.
This is always such a magical and restful place to stay. It has all the basic amenities you need, and once we settle in on the covered porch and look out on the majestic vista before us, a sense of peace settles in that remains for the entire stay. Such restful sleep and good times - we can't wait to visit again!
The cabin and its location were perfect. The only things to note was that a hand towel to the right of the bathroom sink was soaked when I went to dry my hands after washing them upon arrival and someone did come mow the lawn (we weren’t made aware but no big deal) making it difficult to enjoy quiet time or time on the porch until it was completed. The cabin is beautiful and did have everything that was needed. Would definitely recommend!
Our family usually rents a few cabins a year to unwind over a long weekend. This cabin has been our favorite rental in years. Home is well appointed, clean, comfortable beds, strong wifi. The property is breathtaking and gave our young son and frenchies plenty of space to roam. The next door neighbors were so welcoming and felt like old friends. The porch… we lived on the porch! It rained off and on during our stay but being able to enjoy the views during a storm or two was just lovely. Have already booked a return trip!
My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and really enjoyed our stay. The property was as advertised and met all our needs. Can't wait to stay here again!
A great spot to unplug and disconnect. This property is too nice for words. Every kitchen amenity and tool is available. The decor is right out of a magazine. We enjoyed ourselves and look forward to more stays in the future.
We love this little slice of heaven! I’ve lost track of how many times we’ve stayed here, but every time we leave we are already planning our next time back. It’s perfect in every single way. I wouldn’t change a thing.
We could not have been happier with our stay here for New Years! Host, Laura, was very responsive before and during the trip and was so kind. I hope we find a time to come back and experience the cabin in another season! We were lucky enough to have a little snow. The view is breathtaking and the outdoor fireplace is so very nice. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
This sweet cabin exceeded our expectations for a nice and quiet few days away! I highly recommend stating here if you want sonewhere off the grid with great views. The outside fireplace and creek made it peacefull and enjoyable. We may stay again in the future!
A wonder cozy cabin perfect for our Christmas stay
We had a wonderful time at The Owl's Nest cabin.
This cabin is lovely. It was clean and well stocked, it had all the cookware, plates, and utensils we needed to have a larger meal with our family. The deck and outside fireplace were great and included everything you could want to start & maintain a fire easily. The deck had two baby gates that could be secured to the two exits so our puppies could go sniff around without wandering off the deck.
We stayed in late December, so we did not have much time down by the river, but it's still a great view of the river and nearby mountains. We had some chicken visitors a few days and one morning, we saw a whole group of donkeys roaming the yard.
Our family came to visit the rental several times while we were there and they all loved it. We'd recommend this cabin to anyone looking to stay in this area!
A few notes if you do consider this cabin:
- There isn't a dishwasher - the dish cleaning supplies are provided, but be prepared for that if you plan to have a lot of meals at the cabin.
- When it got down to the 30s and 40s, we had a bit of trouble keeping the downstairs and upstairs comfortable.
- Verizon cell service is very spotty - 1 bar outside the cabin - you'll want to turn on Wi-Fi calling on your phone inside.
- Two of the three bedrooms are up a relatively steep flight of stairs and the bathroom is downstairs so plan accordingly.
- The location looks accessible even if there is a bit of snow, unlike many nearby rentals.
The property was just what we needed for a short stay before Christmas. The home was a perfect cozy size for my 2 sons, husband, and large dog. The river next to the house is beautiful and my sons were able to fish. We went into West Jefferson and enjoy a day in town. The highlights of the property are the fireplace, scenery and coziness of the home. You will have everything you need. It felt like visiting your grandmother’s home (and I mean that as a complete compliment). You immediately feel at home. I would love to come back in the fall to see the beautiful trees covered in leaves. Also, communication with the host was perfect. She was quick to respond and always gave us what we needed. She even stopped by while we were outside to provide recommendations. You won’t be disappointed if you book this home!
