About this property

Incredible View-Secluded Cabin-Community Lake, Fire Pit

This precious rustic cabin on Line Runner Ridge is 3 miles out of Rosman (~10 miles from Brevard), off Hwy 178. This cozy 1Bed, 1Bath, 750 sq. ft. cabin is at an elevation of 3100 feet and, with its almost 180 degree amazing long-range view, overlooks Mount Pisgah and the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s a perfect get-away for anyone who loves being in the middle of nature and the arts. Please be aware that we are 1.5 miles on a narrow gravel road that has 2 or 3 steep hills. Most 2-wheel cars/trucks have no trouble getting to the cabin. And, we promise you won't be disappointed! Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
The neighborhood is quiet and friendly.

The cabin has a queen bed in the bedroom and a queen sofa sleeper in the living room. The kitchen is equipped for cooking, including a full-sized refrigerator and stove, microwave, pots, a crock pot, a toaster and, of course, a coffee maker. The kitchen extends to outdoors with the gas grill.

The living room has panoramic windows to take advantage of nature’s canvas which changes every day. Start your day with a cup of coffee on the large covered porch and enjoy the quiet solitude as the smoky mountains wake up - it just doesn't get any better than this! In fact, why not have all your meals outdoors? The large covered porch is by far best room in the house. You could almost live on the porch. At 3100 ft elevation, the temperatures are perfect even in the middle of summer. When it gets cool in the evenings, come in and warm up by the gas log stove, maybe pop some corn and start a movie. There is free internet, 42" flat screen TV, Roku with Netflix and YouTubeTV to access all sports so you won't miss anything.

The bathroom has a tub/shower, sink, toilet, plenty of towels and washcloths. No need to pack your hair dryer (we've got one).

The cabin is equipped with a washer/dryer, sheets, towels, and a starter supply of paper towels, toilet tissue, shampoo, conditioner, bath soap, laundry detergent and dish detergent.

You’ll feel like you’re in a tree-house or a Disney movie with many types of birds serenading you with sweet singing (bring your Audubon bird book), squirrels and chipmunks playing and the occasional visit from deer, turkey and maybe, if you're lucky you'll catch a glimpse of one of the black bears on the mountain.

Also, in May we get a visit from the “blue ghosts”, truly a magical feeling to be surrounded by hundreds or thousands of tiny blue lightning bugs a couple of hours a night for just a few weeks each year. What makes these different than the "regs" (regular yellow lightning bugs that we all caught as kids) is that their light stays on for a full minute or two. So you can be in the middle of hundreds of these amazing creatures with their tiny blue lights all lit at the same time. It's like having hundreds of tiny fairies all around you. They are only found in this region of the country, so mark your calendars, and don’t miss this opportunity for a rare event right on our mountain.

Brevard area is the ideal place to experience the four seasons without the sweltering summer heat of further south or the frozen endless winter of further north. The fall colors are amazing. Our climate is perfect year round!

You have access to a community, 8-acre lake on our mountain for canoeing/kayaking, swimming, fishing (stocked with several types of fish, check the instructions in the cabin for what kind and how many you can keep). We have 2 fishing poles w/ all the rigging in the garage, and in the cabin, a picnic basket and chairs, towels for swimming! Feel free to bring your own kayak/canoe. Everything you need for a fun day at our private mountain lake available to residents of our community only a 3 min drive from the cabin.

Our propane firepit looks over the beautiful Smokey Mountains! Have a glass of wine and relax - what a peaceful and beautiful way to end the day!

Transylvania County is known as the land of waterfalls. There are over 200 in our county alone, and many are easy hikes. For those who love the outdoors, our county is also known for its mountain biking trails. There are 25 trails with over 600 miles of biking through Pisgah Forest, Bracken Mountain, Dupont Forest and others. With more than 50% of Transylvania County being protected forest and park land, there are countless hiking trails, horseback riding, biking and camping opportunities.

And don’t forget the music scene; it’s fantastic here. Brevard has 2 premier venues for music with the Porter Center at Brevard College and the Brevard Music Center open-air auditorium. Both of these venues feature many local bluegrass, blues, jazz, classical and opera ensembles, some accompanied by a talented orchestra (take a look at Porter Center and Brevard Music Center Events Calendar). Brevard Music Center has hosted Lyle Lovett and His Large Band, Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, Amy Grant, Yo-Yo Ma, Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn, to name a few. Don’t miss the annual Mountain Song Festival early in September that showcases bluegrass and traditional mountain music at its best. Another must is the Banff Film Festival with National Geographic photography short stories (tickets sell out months in advance) at the Porter Center. The list is endless.

• 25 minutes from Brevard – 10 minutes of this 20 to get down our mountain.
• 30 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway
• 35 minutes from Gorges State Park
• 40 minutes from Dupont State Recreational Forest
• 45 minutes from Asheville Regional airport in Arden
• 60 minutes from downtown Asheville or Hendersonville
• 90 minutes from Greenville, SC (with international airport)

AND... if a FABULOUS view is one of your top priorities (all pictures of the mountains taken from the porch), this is what our guests say: "Having stayed at dozens of mountain cabin rentals during our marriage, I had become accustomed to mediocre- until Point of View! Most rentals brag of their views and the actual view ends up a huge disappointment. Not here! The view takes your breath away!"

It’s a beautiful part of the country loaded with live music, outdoor activities, festivals, camps, and a variety of craft breweries.

Peaceful and Serene

We always enjoy staying at this property. We love sitting on the back porch mesmerized by the mountain view and the tranquility of the location. The only sounds you hear are nature and the occasional vehicle crunching down the gravel roads of the neighborhood. Nancy and Betty are very responsive and accommodating hosts and the cabin is the perfect size for a couples getaway. We will be back.

I cannot say enough good things about this little mountain house! The views are next to none! The house is so peaceful and we could sit on the porch for days just looking out at the mountains. This was our second trip to Point of View and we will definitely be making a third!

Mountain cabin

The cabin was as advertised it was in a beautiful location a little steep to get up but nonetheless much worth it. The Host were very gracious and provided a welcome basket that included a lot of goodies and other items. Also the host knew we're bringing our dog and provided treats for our dog also. The views were spectacular the cabin was well equipped unbelievable fresh eggs in the fridge. Overall I would say this is one of the best places we ever stayed. Thanks Rick

Wonderful Seclusion

Can not even begin to summarize how incredible this cottage is. The hosts are amazing. The cottage is amazing. The view is amazing. If you are looking for something remote to just relax, this place is it. We are so thankful that we timed our visit to see the Blue Ghosts. This was truly the first trip we were actually sad we had to leave.

Amazing visit

I have visited POV cabin twice in two months, so you could say I really really love it here. The views are absolutely gorgeous—we love how the view changes throughout the day. The cabin is well appointed with literally everything you could need. It is impeccably clean & so cozy. The bed and pillows are so comfy. We LOVE the fireplace so much—it is perfect. I could go on and on. Betty and Nancy are so kind and make sure you are comfortable and are available if you need anything. I already miss it so much and cannot wait for my third stay.

A Hidden Gem: Perfect Mountain Escape

This vacation was truly the perfect escape: Point of View ( POV) cabin alongside outstanding hospitality provided us with a soul replenishing experience! We couldn’t have asked for more . The view from the cabin is absolutely breathtaking and heavenly! We felt in absolute awe.The cabin is emaculate, well maintained, and has plenty of amenities. Nancy and Betty thought of everything to make the vacation the perfect escape for us and our dog Bailey. We felt like we were in a "Four Seasons" cabin! Words and pictures do not do the experience or the magnificant view justice. Nancy and Betty did an outstanding job welcoming us into their slice of heaven. Somehow POV manages to be magical but at the same time feel like home. We have had numerous trips and vacations over the years, and this trip to POV holds a top place in our hearts ( and our stomachs-Nancy and Betty put together a fantastic gift package for us -Bailey included). Only downside: We couldn’t bring the cabin, the view, and Nancy and Betty back with us! We truly cannot wait to be back up in those mountains, in POV. Absolute bliss! Thank you Nancy and Betty for a "soul replenishing" stay!

An Excellent "Point-of-View"

We felt very fortunate to spend our 42nd anniversary at the excellent Point-of-View Cabin! From the moment we read the glowing reviews by former guests, we eagerly looked forward to our arrival. As we stepped inside the adorable cabin, we were delighted by the thoughtful welcome basket filled with snacks. There was even a bag of treats for our pug Ruby. Then we opened the door to the deck and were overwhelmed by the spectacular vista and the stillness of the forest. Although our stay was much too brief, we were continually enchanted by the lovely details and thoughtful touches...the flickering luminara candles...the twinkling trees...a corner library stacked with books and games...soft, fresh-smelling bed linens...an assortment of bed pillows...plenty of fluffy towels...bathroom necessities...not to mention the well-equipped kitchen! Everything was so neat and clean and sweet notes strategically placed offered answers to those FAQs. Although we preferred sitting on the porch swing to gaze at the ever-changing magnificent view, we had fun kayaking at the lake, cooking on the grill, and relaxing by the fire pit gazing at the night sky. Nancy and Betty are wonderful people and exceptional hosts. Their communication was clear and conveyed their wish to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We look forward to returning soon!

Best Place to Stay!

This stands out in so many ways. Betty and Nancy were the most hospitable hosts I have ever rented from and I've been renting on VRBO every year for several years. The rental is absolutely stunning, clean, has everything you could think of and need and the VIEW is out of this world - it's not an exaggeration saying it's a one of a kind view that will take your breath away. It is peaceful, quiet while still being close to all the beauty and activities the local area has to offer. A tremendous thanks for such a wonderful opportunity and memorable stay!!

BEST mountain property we have ever stayed at. View was Spectacular.. The cabin had an Excellent Welcome Package for us and our dog Milo and fresh eggs in the refrigerator. Cozy cabin with awesome views.

This is the dream! An absolutely perfect little cozy cabin for me, the hubs and our pup. The ‘new’ kitchen was just what we needed to prepare breakfast omelettes with the fresh eggs that were left in the fridge for us. The fireplace made it so perfectly cozy, the shower was great, we appreciated all the pillow choices, and the porch and view were definitely the star! We are booked for a return visit in May, and hope to be there for the fireflies! Can’t wait!!

The view does not dissapoint!!!

We stayed here for 4 nights over Christmas 2022 which turned out to be the coldest in this area for about 100 years. The cabin, however, was toasty warm. The outside temp. did mean we didn't really want to lounge out on the spacious deck but the large windows in the lounge gave us clear access to the magnificent view. The hosts have the features and facilities very well documented and they left us (and our dog) a welcome note. We did communicate with them during our stay and they were very friendly and attentive. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who loves mountain views but with the comforts of home.

Absolutely perfect

This was our second stay at Point of View. This cabin is perfect for a cozy stay with your significant other. As soon as you walk in the door you know you are at a place that is beyond compare. From the special attention to detail to all your possible needs throughout the cabin, to a fabulous huge basket full of goodies, to a well equipped chef kitchen, to soft towels, wonderful bedding and towels and sofa blankets, candlight, soft music and THE most fabulous view this side of the Mississippi. I’ve stayed in anything from extremely rustic to extremely luxurious accommodations in various parts of the world. We even currently own a timeshare in one of the most luxurious resorts in NC. Point of View is my favorite. And the warm, delightful hostesses have now become “family”. We are planning our next return visit.

Why they chose this property

History & Story of “Point of View”

Back in 1980, parents (Charlotte and Al) of one of the owners decided, with 3 of their 6 children out of college, they just might be able to afford a little get-away in the mountains. Charlotte and Al drove from their home in Florida and stayed at a friend’s “Little Red Cabin”. They looked at property and decided Line Runner Ridge was perfect. The next year, they contacted a builder, who drew the plan on a napkin and built the shell of the cabin.

The folks were DIY-ers, and every vacation was spent working on their Mountain House. They finished the inside (upstairs) themselves. They made the doors, curtains, kitchen cabinet, painted. It was a labor of love and a break from the Florida heat.

As it happened, Ruth and Glen bought property on the very top of the ridge the same day Charlotte and Al bought theirs. Both couples built houses in 1981, and so began a beautiful friendship.Whenever the folks came up, Glen would come knocking on the door to get Al. They would start at 7 in the morning and quit about 5 in the evening, working, working, working.

In the early 2000s, current owners (Nancy and Betty) came for a visit. They LOVED the mountain house, the views, the area, everything! They immediately started looking for property. Luckily, they were able to acquire property in the area and built their cabin. Now 3 of Charlotte and Al’s children have property on this ridge… and … 2 of Ruth and Glen’s children have property on this ridge. Second generation special friendships continue today.

As for “Point of View”, Charlotte and Al built the garage in 2011 and finished the basement in 2014. Charlotte stayed in the cabin until she moved to Brevard.
Nancy couldn’t bear for the cabin to be sold, so the decision was made to share “Point of View”. We hope you can feel our love for “Point of View”, and enjoy your time on our Beautiful Ridge.

What makes this property unique

Enjoy the quiet solitude of this special cabin. You can sit on the swing and gaze upon mountain peak after mountain peak after mountain peak. On clear nights you can see the lights of the Pisgah Inn way up on the Blue Ridge Parkway. And, on a clear night, don't forget to turn out all the lights and go outside to look up at the millions of stars-AMAZING!!!

You can totally rejuvenate your soul, catch up on your favorite novel, watch the sunsets and go for long walks around the lake. Let all the stress of work and everyday worries evaporate.

Choose to go to town and explore or just soak up the peace of your surroundings.
