Great ranch stay near Colorado Bend State Park

We stayed here for 3 nights in order to do day trips to Colorado Bend State park. It was a great ranch environment and loved seeing all the exotic animals! The fire pit was great for s’mores and beautiful stars at night. The accommodations were very nice, new & clean.

Excellent get away

Best get away in texas. From the time we drove in the front gate till we left it just felt like home. Lots of wild animals and friendly people. Clay and Troy were very knowledgeable of the animals and land. The guest house we stayed in The Wildebeest was fantastic and we will be back. Thanks John and Michelle Hillin

Amazing Ranch Getaway

We were greeted at the front gate by our hostess, Kristin, who made sure we had a perfect three day weekend. The 5J Ranch is a beautiful ranch property with fields of wildflowers, blooming cactus and many different exotic species as well as whitetail deer! We enjoyed meeting and visiting with the owner, Clay who made sure we had anything we needed. So relaxing and a great getaway from the big city and traffic. We were celebrating our anniversary and could not have enjoyed our time more. San Saba is thankfully still a small town with good food, shopping, pretty parks and close to Colorado Bend State Park. The ranch has multiple houses to accomodate the size of your party. Whether you want to get away and relax or book a hunt, we highly recommend the 5J Ranch. Steve & Melanie S.

Great time!

It was the perfect place to get away from the city, surrounded with nature and lots of animals. Clay and his staff are amazing and took great care of us. We were able to try his pizza and nothing compares to it, it is the best we have ever had. My kids can’t wait to come back.

Smaller Version of an Overnight Stay at Fossil Rim (But Tons More Fun.)

2500 hill country acres, dozens of exotic animals, one of the darkest sky spots in TX and hosting equal to black tie. Should their monster outdoor pizza oven next door at the event barn be fired up, you may be offered a slice of their legendary fig pizza. Take it. Seriously, it's right up there with Crested Butte's iconic pizza hole, Secret Stash. You'll want for nothing here, save a pair of ear plugs: the cicadas can be deafening at night. 3.5 hours from Dallas, the San Saba river is still one of the prettiest in God's country. Book it, thank me later, I'll be back.

Fantastic Getaway Place

We rented the Wildebeest Guesthouse for a weekend in San Saba to celebrate a friend. The house was very comfortable and clean. Great porch to enjoy the stars. Troy, the ranch manager, gave us an amazing tour of the property and wildlife (definitely take him up on this !). One drawback - there isn't an oven/stove but there is access to one. There is also a fire pit with a grate for grilling (bring charcoal). We highly recommend any of the options on this property!!
