Natural wildlife like deer, wild turkeys, and an occasional blue heron are known to visit the farm, too! Enjoy watching the animals but please do not feed or touch them.

PARKING: The private entrance into the farm includes approximately a 1/4 mile of gravel roads. There is private parking in the back of the farmhouse for 2-3 vehicles.

CLIMATE CONTROL: central heat and air

There's lots to do and explore in the area, and this farmhouse is the perfect "home base" for your central Virginia vacation or getaway.

Please note we do not rent to guests under 25, and we do not allow outside visitors.

We have had issues with guests not respecting the house rules or following the printed instructions for the hot tub & hot tub cover use. Please be one of our stellar guests and leave the home as you found it!

OTHER DETAILS TO NOTE:

This is a working farm with wildlife and animals, and the owners ask that you (for your own safety and that of the animals) enjoy the animals from a distance. Please do not approach, feed, or touch the animals or wildlife. All fencing on the farm is wired, and if touched, will result in electric shock.

While you will find the farmhouse to be incredibly clean and we aim to provide quality service, we are not a luxury hotel. Our co-hosts are available through messaging should a need arise, but there's not a "front desk" at our remote location. Think of this experience more like an authentic, quiet, old-school farmhouse stay.

CAUTION: the driveway entrance to the farm begins with a steep hill. We advise our guests to take it slowly and have had no troubles on it, but it is probably not suitable for oversized vehicles with large trailers or RV's, etc.

You'll have freedom and privacy to enjoy the farmhouse to yourselves during your stay. In the warmer months, there's a small chance you might see us out in the garden on occasion. If there is a question or a need arises, our team of co-hosts are available to help through messaging and calling.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD:

While there are a few neighbors nearby, the Farmhouse is tucked away and feels like a rural, remote getaway.

Great Stay at The Farmhouse, Thaxton, VA

And again, another great stay at The Farmhouse in Thaxton, VA. We always enjoy the farm fresh eggs for breakfast and watch the deer as they graze in the meadow. The hot tub on a cool rainy night is a plus when you truly need to unwind. We'll be back again to our home away from home.

Relaxing farmhouse stay

We loved our stay! Very remote and quiet, comfortable and very spacious house, comfy beds. Loved the fresh eggs, we ate all dozen and they were all fantastic! Dales Diner is about the only close place to eat, but very good and affordable food. Great host!

Lots Of Room

The Farmhouse was charming; though the driveway to it would have been difficult had we not had 4 wheel drive. All in all we had a wonderful time.

Birthday Get Together

Having lived in Lynchburg for 18 years, we are very familiar with the area. We just wanted a quiet place to have our adult children and grandson join us for my husband’s bday celebration, and The Farmhouse fit the bill. The kitchen was great for cooking a bday meal and everyone was very comfortable in their sleeping accommodations. The beds were very comfortable! The hot tub was a bonus as well!

Mountain Getaway

Friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was all it was promised to be. Clean and tidy, the kitchen and dining room large and fun to just hang out in. We loved having the cows visit us while having breakfast. Would certainly stay again.

Farmhouse vacation

Our family had a wonderful time during our stay at the Farmhouse. It is truly relaxing and peaceful. I look forward to our next visit. We took walks with our little 2 year old grandson who loved seeing all the deer and the turkeys. We also took time to enjoy the hot tub on the rainy day. Just all in all this is a great place to unplug and rest.

Getting back to the country

Will definitely be back and stay here whenever visiting ThistleDo Farm. Even though Ophelia tried to rain us out, it didn't matter because the dual recliner sofa was so comfortable we burrowed down and watched TV. The kitchen was well equipped only missing a toaster and trash bags. Plan to return in the spring....

The Farmhouse Weekend

What a wonderful place to stay to get away from all the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. The house was fully stocked to meet all our needs while we stayed there for a long weekend. From the fresh eggs to all the neat decorations, it was so relaxing after our daily excursions. The hot tub was wonderful. Watching the animals in their elements was so cool. The property managers thought of everything to make our stay so enjoyable and relaxing. We had one of the best weekends. Such a neat place to stay.

Peaceful stay

When my son and his two kids decided to join us at a VRBO I looked for something that would accommodate us all comfortably. They took the upstairs and we took the master bedroom and bathroom. Lots of room to spread out. The backyard was full interesting things. We especially loved the butterfly bushes and the frogs croaking in the little "pond". The back porch was spacious and included a hot tub that we all enjoyed throughout the week. Although the price was considerably more than the others we checked, we were not sorry that we chose this one.

Our family had a wonderful long weekend at the Farmhouse. The house was warm, comfortable and clean. Everything we needed was provided. The sunsets were gorgeous. We loved being able to sit in the hot tub and see the cows, hear the birds, and stay warm during the snow. The owner was friendly and answered all our questons about his animals. Terrific rental!!!

Amazing experience at the Farm house!

Our stay at the Farmhouse was our first experience at an Airb&b/vrbo listing. It was an amazing experience. This farm house is exceptionally clean and in nice order. I specially booked this place as the cleanness, the hot tub and the relaxing environment was what I was looking for. Well, I found all of these features and even more here at this great place! The hosts' attention to the details was also exceptional. No kidding, I felt much more comfortable at this house than mine👍😊 we will definitely consider this house next time we wanna go on a vacation. Thanks so much Nicole and Ken💐🙏💯

Surrounded by mountains, a few fuzzy black cows, and numerous chickens, nothing offers me the quietude and peacefulness of arriving home to the farm. My husband and I, although still busy professionals, cherish our small farm and the life we have built here. Originally developed as a two-family farm, we have converted the farmhouse to a place for guests to come and share in what we consider to be a little corner of God's country.
