I loved my stay at this peaceful, quiet home. No loud cars, just peace and quiet. Everything was so clean, and super comfy beds. I could not have had any better host than Lisa and John.
This was a great home base while we were in the area visiting Penland and local TRAC pottery sales.
Fully equipped kitchen made meals easy.
Cell service was really limited. It was in the 90s while we were there but the 2 AC units cooled the main bedroom & living space sufficiently.
The owners were super helpful and provided great communication.
Finally got all of the teens under one roof for a few days. Loved having them unplug. The 'neighborhood' dog was a bonus. Thank you for opening up your home.
This home is so cozy. It's perfect for anyone looking to escape the daily demands of life. It was the perfect combination of seclusion and easy driving distance to town. I fell asleep on the front porch my first night listening to the rain. Lisa was a wonderful and receptive hostess. Definitely recommend!
My friend and I had a lovely stay at this charming home in Green Mountain. You can't ask for more accommodating, courteous, kinder hosts than Lisa and John. I would recommend this home and will definitely stay here in the future.
A gem of a true isolated mountain cottage, beautifully renovated and furnished. Surrounded by all the signs of a once working mountain farm now rich with a marvelous mixture of wild and domestic trees and plants and copious birds (including a flock of turkeys) and animals (including a most friendly doe). If you seek seclusion this is the place for you , with friendly and attentive owners and gorgeous views on the way to and from the nearby town of Burnsville.
We enjoyed our stay. Lisa was very nice and helpful with suggestions on activities and places to visit in the area. We had a bit of an issue with the dog that lives on the property. It is not trained at all and is friendly, but very pushy. On the first morning of our stay I was outside with our young son when the dog came out of nowhere. He seemed excited to play with our son, but kept jumping on him and scratched up his stomach. I had to run through the yard to get the dog off and honestly had trouble getting him to stop jumping long enough to get my son back inside. I think he just wanted to play, but a heads up that there is a dog on the property would have been nice so that we could have been on the lookout. Other than that everything was good.

Quiet refuge tucked into a small, mountainous valley
My East European fiancee' and I had three relaxing days at this cozy mountain retreat only about 7 miles north of Burnsville shortly after she arrived by airline in Charlotte. All conveniences were on hand, including a paperback book library and video collection. No telephone reception or wifi is available, but satellite television is there if that is on your weekend itinerary. Outdoor charcoal BBQ and table with chairs is where we spent most of our time and were fortunate to hit a sunny, 70 degree weather window two days after Hurricane Michael swept through North Carolina. If you desire a quiet refuge away from most electronic communication, then this three-bedroom home is perfect and only about a three-hour drive from Greensboro.

John and Lisa were so sweet!
Their home was so inviting and cozy. We had everything we needed and then some. It was quiet and relaxing a true way to get away from the world of hustle and bustle. The jetted tub was an added bonus. Definitely would stay here again. Thank You:) Toby and Robin

Perfect country mountain setting
Thoroughly enjoyed this quiet cottage, tucked away in it's own little blanket of green. I sat outside on the porch in the evening and heard nothing but the sounds of the birds and crickets. During the two days we were there, we never heard or even saw the lights of a car. There are a few other houses on the same road, however you'd never know it. It brought back memories of our grandparents' homes. It was nice being forced to unplug from our cell phones for a bit and relax as a family.

Home Away from Home
We enjoyed the warm welcome that we received. The beds were very comfortable and just what we needed after a long day of activities. The kitchen is more than well stocked with appliances and dishware. My children enjoyed the extensive movie selections. We look forward to our next stay in this lovely home.

A Wonderful Place to STAY!!
Nicely furnished home with everything you will need. Very clean. Peaceful, Quiet and be sure to go out on the porch to see the stars. We visited Roan Mountain and it was a beautiful drive and the mountain is so pretty with many hikers and picnic areas. For those who like to raft there is a river with rafting nearby. Thanks for opening your home to us. God Bless you both L & R Hess Chesterfield, Va

Calm, beautiful mountain retreat
This place is exactly what we were looking for to escape daily life for a few nights. The house is nice and secluded, situated on a beautiful mountain which you can hike all day. The little town near by is great for meals, ice-cream, and fun. The home is extremely clean and inviting and Lisa and John are so nice while also giving you all the space you are looking for coming to a place like this. We enjoyed our stay so much, we will most definitely be back. Perfect!

Beautiful views and sweet community
We enjoyed everything about the home. The kids enjoyed the big yard and little creek in the front yard. The cool nights were perfect! We opened the windows to cool down the house and even grilled out one night. We visited Linville Caverns at Lisa's suggestion and was beyond thrilled at the majestic creations underground! We also ate at Louise's country food restaurant in Linville...very good. Burnsville itself is a quaint town and we enjoyed the ice cream shop and Blind Squirrel brewing pub. Thank you for renting your home. It perfectly suited our needs. (side note: Lisa had given us a call regarding a plumbing issue and offered a full refund to avoid any issues. We decided to go ahead with our arrangements. We did not have any problems with the water...it tastes delicious!...there was no sediment in either the tub or the kitchen sink. Thank you for being so forthright with us and we are thankful for such sweet people to rent from.)

A Wonderful Stay - 10/13 to 10/16/2016
What a nice, comfortable welcoming cabin in the woods! Although my stay at Peace was not for a vacation, this home certainly provided me with the perfect place to accomplish my task at hand! I was in Burnsville to celebrate my daughter's wedding and I was making the wedding cake. Peace provided me with the room, peaceful surroundings, and calm that I needed to bake a beautiful cake for the wedding, Working for many hours in the kitchen, I can truly say without a doubt, that this vacation home was immaculately clean and well stocked. The other rooms were also so well cared for. In speaking with the owner, several days prior to our arrival, she said her rule was to always prepare Peace to the same standards that she cared for her own home. And she does! Thank you for the short, but very nice stay at Peace and for helping make my daughter's wedding day a beautiful success.

Quiet Romantic Getaway
This beautiful house was perfect for our weekend getaway. I loved being disconnected while there. The drive up to the house was so pretty too. My husband got a chance to explore the property and found a beautiful clearing close to the top of the mountain while I was dropping the kids off with my parents. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to check it out with him. The bed off of the living room was extremely comfortable, we didn't try the others, so I don't know how they slept. The washer & dryer were great & very efficient. There are a few things I would improve or change however.... 1- Better maintenance of the property, the front porch was overgrown and we were unable to use some of the seating due to that. 2- Turn up the setting on the hot water heater. We had to turn the hot water all the way on for the water to be warm enough for us. 3- The plumbing in the bathroom is off, cold is hot, hot is cold....that gave us a rude awakening the first morning we were there. 4- This is not something I would necessarily change, but something to consider....updating the TV's to ones that are compatible with having a laptop plugged in to it. We didn't get a chance to watch TV other than the first night we were there. But, it would have been nice to hook our laptop up and access Netflix or Hulu.
John & Lisa were wonderful & very hospitable. They did a great job putting up with the million questions I had. lol We will definitely be back.

A comfortable, cozy home.
Tucked away in the mountains, this home provided a peaceful and tranquil setting to unwind and relax. The home was the perfect size to accommodate our family of five. The home was well kept and stocked with amenities which reduced the stress of vacationing away from the comforts of one's home. The bedrooms were well maintained and provided extra linens and bedding for added comfort. A well equipped kitchen made it convenient to prepare family dinners after a day of exploring the mountain trails and waterfalls in the surrounding areas. The nearest town was a short distance away (about 6 miles) and offered easy access to restaurants, small shops and a large supermarket to meet our needs. The owner provided detailed directions to the property and several recommendations about the attractions nearby to explore. Overall, this home was a comfortable place to stay during our vacation and it met many of our expectations.

Enjoy seeing deer in the front yard. There's usually a mom and two twins. Great area to hike and enjoy nature. Enjoy grilling out in the backyard - (electric grill). Lots of wildlife and birds are always singing. Enjoy the beautiful stars at night while roasting marshmellows outside.
