Make your visit to the beautiful city of Berea memorable!
High On Berea is a lovely home that was built in 1938. It is conveniently located near Berea College, Boone Tavern, and Papaleno's restaurant. The beautiful hiking trail called the Pinnacles are about a 10 minute drive from the home. The city is known for its arts and crafts. You are walking distance from Downtown Berea and the Square, both areas full of local artisan shops and attractions. You are also within walking distance of the College where you can take walks and enjoy the scenery - it is a beautiful campus.
The home sleeps 4 people. The space includes a kitchen, dining room, bathroom, living room and 2 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has a full size bed. Living quarters are on one level with 4 stairs leading into the house and 2 stairs at the curb of house. Parking is available in the driveway to the left of the home. City ordnance does not allow parking on the street.
Directions: the easiest entry point is to turn onto Fee St. and follow the curved road to the house that will be on your right. This will help in parking on the street. You can exit by simply passing the house and following the curve. It will look like you're driving into a parking lot - but you are able to get to the main road from this lot.
We only allow 4 guests to stay at our property. If more than 4 guests end up staying; we will add a $30 charge for each extra guest.

Very nice, well cleaned, cute cottage. The neighbor has a quiet period from 10 pm to 10 am. It does make it very quiet but maybe a little restricted for vacationers depending on your tastes. The rear entrance is very challenging for anyone with disabilities.
Would stay again, but a few issues. Comfortable and welcoming. Loved the character of the house!
My mother and I booked the house for a weekend getaway for three of us, my father/her husband included. The pictures are a bit decieving in size, especially in the hallway to the bedrooms and bathroom. Bathroom is real small, with the shower being pretty narrow. The place was cleaner than most hotels, but a couple small things were missed (a pretzel underneath a chair and soap scum on the shower rack). It was a very quiet neighborhood and house, except for a train not far away that passes through a couple times during the day. It passed by twice on our last night, and I guess it was because of delays from a storm. Speaking of the storm, my mother got pretty worried when it got rough during the night, and we had no where to go since the basement door is locked by a deadbolt. Wish there was at least a list of nearby emergency things, like hospitals, storm shelters, and etc. Also, when the AC would kick on and the wind got bad, the basement door would rattle and sound like knocks on the front or back door. A slide bolt would probably fix that, as we put a kitchen chair up against it and it stopped. Be careful if you have small children; water is VERY hot! It will scald if you are not careful, my dad and I nearly scalded ourselves on accident the first night. It was a good location, as we were real close to the town's main streets and shops. Shower has removable, or moveable, head for anyone who cares. Mostly cosmetic stuff could be fixed.
Upon arrival everything was as detailed. Very charming home and comfortable and cozy. The location was very quiet but convenient to all things we wanted to do. Commication was great and made for easy arrival. Thanks again Tina
Location was great to visit Berea College. This is an older home, with character. it was as described and very clean. We will be coming back to Berea periodically for the next 4 years and will always check to see if dates are available first.
Two of us were planning to stay here, but my sister was unable to make it due to a fall. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was well appointed, and the wi-fi worked great.
The house was very clean and all the instructions were clear. It was close to campus where I was visiting my kid and close to a bagel shop (native bagel) that I really enjoyed! Lots of room to relax, a table to work at and a yard to enjoy the sun.
The house was clean and the beds were comfortable with plenty of extra blankets available. Among the VBRO amenities listed were television and stereo. I did not find a stereo anywhere and there WAS a television, but no cable connection. This was disappointing, as I assumed "television" meant I would be able to turn it on and watch programs. The outside lights (front, side and rear) didn't work; I assume light bulbs needed replaced. The listing stated there was a city ordinance prohibiting on-street parking; apparently the neighborhood didn't get the memo as there were at least 12 cars parked on the street at any given time. I loved the keyless lock/entry system. The heating system worked really well. The hardwood floors were beautiful. The toilet was a tad bit loose; it shifted a little when you sat down. If you plan on cooking, a few pots/pans are provided, but bring everything else as only salt and pepper are provided. Overall, it was a nice clean house in a quiet neighborhood.
We had a great time visiting for Homecoming weekend and our 10 year college reunion. The house was clean and well equipped along with a great location, close to the college and downtown! Would definitely stay again when we come back!
This property was charming and close to Berea College, where both of my children are students. The inclusion of the story of the owner's attachment to the property was very sweet and a nice bit of history. We enjoyed it!
It was so fortunate that this home was available after our other booking sustained some issues that required us to cancel. This home is a lovely 1938 brick house which was spotlessly clean and inviting. The AC stopped working shortly after we checked in and the owners responded immediately to fix it. They then stayed to visit with us and were very informative about the area and various sites we could visit. Our stay couldn't have been lovelier and the hosts were so very gracious. The rate was super economical, too. I would stay here again. Just two suggestions: please supply 3 pronged outlet attachments as I had to purchase one to plug in my computer. My friend and I are older and would have appreciated a couple of hassocks to put our feet up at the end of our lovely days visiting this area. Thank you!.
This is our second stay at High on Berea. We love this charming house. It instantly feels like home. The beds are amazingly comfortable! The neighborhood is quiet, yet central to everything! We plan to make this our yearly lodging when we meet up in Berea!

Why they chose this property
This property was build in 1938. My mother and father bought it in 1993. My mom played in the house when it was being built. She would pretend to fix dinner for her family. When the house came on the market she and daddy bought it. Our family has lived in Berea our entire life.. My father always called Berea...God's Country...I hope you enjoy your stay in our home!
