Eco Conscious, Peaceful & Serene, Dog Friendly, Open Floor Plan, Cozy, Private…
This casita stands alone and very private on a 2.5-acre property at the top of Old Santa Fe Trail. Just 15 minutes to the Santa Fe Plaza and 5 minutes to the popular Harry's Roadhouse and El Gauncho Fitness Club. Just close enough to town and a scenic, traffic-free drive to a peaceful getaway from the hustle and bustle. The casita is fresh and immaculate with natural clay paint walls and bamboo floors. There is a private driveway, parking area, and walkway/entrance. The casita has a casita sized full kitchen and bathtub/shower. This casita is clean and bright with lots of natural light, wooden shutters, and modern, wooden, gated fencing for privacy. We have recently added a ceiling fan, tiled bathroom floor and screened dog door to the patio area. The casita stays a comfortable temperature year round due to its’ mountain location with radiant heat in the winter and mini swamp coolers for those possible few weeks of heatwaves. Hiking and is close by in all directions. There are off leash dog parks in town. Dog friendly and dogs under 30 lbs. are welcome if well behaved! We invite you to stay for an extra special Santa Fe visit, romantic getaway or an artist's retreat..

The property was wonderful. It had everything you’d need for a trip. My partner and I stayed there for about a week with our two dogs. The owners were so kind and gave us some essentials like fruit, coffee, tea, cream, eggs, and butter. They even had a bag of treats for our dogs! Overall it was very accommodating and comfortable. Being able to stay at this casita was one of the highlights of our trip.
Nice casita in a beautiful area. Peaceful and private. Easy to get into town. Bettina is a great host. Prepared everything for arrival. Very responsive and helpful. We had fun!
bettinas casita is a simple, quiet, modern cabin on a special property at the outskirts of santa fe, in the foothills. Its well stocked with everything you need-high quality pans, towels, a robe, linens. She even filled the fridge with yummy GF food after asking if im gluten-free, and put a beautiful orchid on the counter. it was a lovely stay!
This was the most tranquil, magical exceptional property! Bettina was an amazing host and the casita was equipped with everything I could have possibly needed and more. There were scrumptious treats and welcoming lights and food. The nature surrounding the property was so beautiful. I wish that I could have stayed longer.
Very good spatial use of a small casita. Not cramped. Host was very thoughtful with amenities, i.e., fruit, coffee, creamer, butter, eggs, dog biscuits, etc. No need to run to the store after the long journey to Santa Fe. They really made the first night and next morning very easy. We would definitely stay there again. Very scenic area of Santa Fe.
The place was quaint and great for a few days’ stay. A longer stay for 2 people with 2 dogs was a little tight as storage was limited. However, great access to town and hiking. Bettina was very responsive to our questions and thoughtful - left 1/2 dozen eggs, bananas, butter and half/half for the morning! And dog biscuits! The doggy door and fenced in area was great.
My wife and I (mid - late 70’s) were at the Casita for 8 nights. While nicely appointed, we found it a bit claustrophobic toward the end of our stay. We had no contact with or from our hosts. A word of caution for those of our generation or those with mobility challenges. The dozen dirt framed steps down to the entry are uneven and could be tricky. Of greater concern is the downhill dirt driveway that offers but limited vision and traction when leaving the property to access the narrow 2-lane Hwy to get anywhere.
We specifically wanted a property that was private, surrounded by nature, had a kitchen and allowed pets. This property checked all those boxes and it included a nice secure outdoor space for our dog. The hosts were very responsive and provided assistance when needed.
A few items of note for other renters:
• There is very limited walkable space on this property. This is not clear in the listing. It’s a beautiful property with gorgeous views but don’t expect to venture out on it. Plenty of hiking nearby though.
• It’s a very small casita and this is clear in the listing. Would not be suitable for more than two people and one small dog.
• Great shower with fast hot water which was welcomed on our Winter trip
• If your stay will be during the winter be prepared for ice/snow in the driveway. Hosts helped us get our suv out but it can be a bit tricky. The driveway is narrow and requires delicate maneuvering to get your vehicle in and out. Especially in snow/ice.
Stayed with a small dog and the accommodations were perfect with a fenced front patio. Great shower. Amenities were thoughtful with treats and plenty of towels. No complaints.
This was a perfect place for me and my dog. The place was immaculate, and super clean!! Bettina was a great hostess, and left wonderful snacks for me and the dog. I told her not to worry as I have a gluten allergy, but she had wonderful gluten free items for me when I arrived. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you need. The water pressure also works great in the shower. I loved waking up in the morning to smell the pine trees, and listening to all the birds. It's so peaceful and quiet. It's not a far drive in to town, and I would take my dog to the park to exercise him. If you are wanting to get away by yourself or you are a couple wanting some peace and quiet, but want to be close to town, this is the place to be!! Highly recommend!!
This is a wonderful get away. The host is absolutely the best we have experienced.
Nestled in the foothills on Old Santa Fe Trail. There is a wonderful health and swim facility close. Museum Hill is close and town/plaza. Highly recommended!!
Bettina’s Northern New Mexico casita was a quiet getaway on the Old Santa Fe Trail. Cozy and welcoming, Bettina has created a space I will remember fondly.
This was a wonderful place to be for my Thanksgiving. Bettina is a superb hostess who gives attention to the details. She was very welcoming and there were some unexpected additional comforts. Thank you!
The owners have thought of everything to ensure a very comfortable stay, down to the smallest details. Every need is met, and more. We very much appreciated the treats and food waiting for us upon arrival - so welcoming and thoughtful. This very small house is extremely clean, and for being so compact, is very well laid out. We loved coming back each day to sit outside and enjoy the quiet, green surroundings. It is well located for visiting downtown Santa Fe, and surrounding sights. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend.
A very comfortable and cozy place, away from traffic noise. Surrounded by forest, one hears only bird music and wind whistling through fir trees. We lived this getaway!
My partner and I stayed at Bettina's property for a week as we explored Santa Fe and Taos. It was a clean and cozy tucked into a beautiful landscape. After a long trip caused by many Southwest Airline delays, we were grateful for the food and welcome sign we saw when we walked in. We were also pleased that the wi-fi and cable worked well, as we find sometimes this is not the case in all cabins we've stayed in.
Located in the hills southeast of Santa Fe, this compact and charming cottage is a peaceful retreat from the heat and activity of the city, which is only 20 minutes away.
Beautiful Studio with incredible fenced yard for contemplation and outside access for pets.
VBRO’s search filter function has major flaws - but despite no W/D - I really enjoyed my 3 weeks stay. {the Solarno Laudromat was clean, safe and friendly - only 20 min away}. The studio had everything else you might need, was supplied with some goodies on. Arrival, and had a reverse Osmosis water tap for some wonderful cold clear water. Great place to stay!
We were so pleased with our stay. The property met our needs very well. The hosts were responsive to all our questions and needs. We will definitely be back!

What makes this property unique
This casita is super special and is well suited for travelers and visitors... Why stay in a hotel when you can have your own cozy, equipped home, bulit on top of gold dust and quartz crystals and lined with tall pine trees...
