About this property

StarField Cottage...The Perfect Cooperstown Dreams Park Getaway!

Located a short 8 minute drive from the famous Cooperstown Dreams Park, home of the world famous12-year old baseball tournaments.

Nestled at the foot of over 1000 acres of wooded hiking trails only 7 miles from Cooperstown Dreams Park & Brewery Ommegang and just 2.7 miles from the heart of Cooperstown is a charming 2-bedroom cottage, perfect for a family vacation or romantic getaway. Hike our logging road trail to emerge at Star Field overlooking the pristine beauty of Lake Otsego. Enjoy a glass of wine as you lounge on the cozy front porch or gather round the hearth of our hand-built stone fireplace in the spacious living room.

Star Field Cottage can accommodate up to 7 guests (up to 3 couples or a family of 6 and up to 2 well behaved and house trained dogs!) and is beautifully appointed with many amenities, including some local treats like fresh coffee roasted right here in town at StageCoach Coffee and some of the best selections of beer from our very own world renowned Brewery Ommegang! There is a huge glassed in porch for dining as well as an outdoor area for your BBQing pleasures. Our property has a logging road that takes you to the top of the mountain with breathtaking views of Lake Otsego and access to the many trails that will take you all over the mountain or into downtown Cooperstown.

The Star Field Cottage is attached to our 1820's farmhouse, but entirely private including a separate entrance and it's own paved driveway and beautiful front yard with stone wall, wildflower garden, aromatic lilacs and views of the enchanted forest.

Easily accessible to Clark's Sports Center which is a State of the Art fitness center, gymnasium & site of the Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Only 4 minute drive from downtown attractions including many great restaurants...Farmers Museum, Glimmerglass Opera House, Fenimore House Museum and National Baseball Hall of Fame. Historic Cherry Valley is only 7 miles north and also offers a variety of restaurants and arts programs.

Cooperstown is loaded with many other attractions than just the Baseball Hall of Fame. There are several other museums (Farmers Museum and Fenimore House) and also many restaurants to choose from. Outdoor activities are in abundance on and around Lake Otsego including boating, kayaking, swimming , hiking and biking. There two golf courses on the lake and both are unique and challenging for both beginners and experts.

I plan to be home most every week this year, so we would love to meet you and help ensure that you get to see and do all the great things that we locals know are fun and worthwhile. Please feel free to inquire if you have any questions! Scott

Great Getaway

We always wanted to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame - the cottage is a short ride and very close to Cooperstown so ideal location for us. Scott and his friendly pup Shoog greeted us, and Scott was very helpful and responsive to our questions. The cottage was very clean and comfortable, and the nearby restaurants were terrific. We had a very nice stay and enjoyed beautiful weather and fall colors!

Great location and host

We stayed at the cottage on our first trip to Cooperstown. It is well located with all the sites within a short drive. We enjoyed a hike up to star field with our dog (bonus that the cottage allows dogs). Scott was a great host - checking in to ensure we were settling in well and we enjoyed an afternoon with Scott on the lake. We can’t wait to come back and enjoy the cottage and area again.

What a perfect spot.

The house was just what we wanted. Close to town, walk out the door and start hiking, and of course Shoog the friendliest dog you will ever meet. Our own kids both two legged and four, had a blast. Scott was so attentive and helpful every second we were there while still giving us plenty of space. Would rent again in a heartbeat.

New to Cooperstown

We had a wonderful time exploring the Baseball Hall of Fame. I would like to return and take advantage of other sites in Cooperstown and beautiful Otsego Lake. Our stay in StarField Cottage was terrific! Scott and Shoog (his dog) were welcoming and extremely friendly, and we appreciated the fact that our dog was also welcome. Although the cottage is attached to the main house, we had all the privacy we needed. The kitchen is well stocked, we lacked for nothing. Everything in the cottage was extremely clean. The setting is beautiful -- although we didn't have cell phone service until we went into Cooperstown. Not a problem, just some friends and family couldn't get in touch with us. We hope to meet up with Scott and Shoog again!

Country Living

This was a great place for our family of 4. All amenities were provided and the house was clean and was cozy and inviting too. We slept great in this super quiet area. Access to hiking trails right out the back door was a bonus. The best part was Scott, who was there to welcome us and made sure we had what we needed. Would definitely recommend!

Cooperstown Dreams Park

This was the perfect spot for a week of baseball at Cooperstown Dreams Park. The location was perfect. It is minutes from downtown Cooperstown and a few miles from the fields. Very quiet. Owner was a fantastic host. This was our best vacation in the past 10 years!

We loved Star Field Cottage!

We had a great time staying at the cottage. The owner was very responsive and accommodating answered all questions in a timely manner. The cottage was comfortable and clean and we had everything we needed to enjoy our time there. The fire place was one of the highlights of cottage and we enjoyed it each night we where there. The hike up the mountain to Star field was energizing and although steep at the begining was so worth the effort once we saw the magnificent view of Otsego Lake! We would definitely visit again.

COZY, CLEAN COTTAGE

Scott was always available if needed during the stay. He would check in daily to see if we needed anything. Check -in was simple. Overall great place to stay for a family. Only concerns about the cottage is providing more hooks or racks in the bathroom for towels. Possibly a floor mat outside the shower to prevent slipping. Overall great stay !

Weeklong stay

We had almost no hot water in the shower the whole time we were there he did come to look at it and put a new filter in but it really didn't change much. I told him we were bringing my adult daughter and her school canine dog we have never been charged for her before we paid him cash on the property. Dogs are allowed there No fire pit no outside chairs no table that 4 people could set around the screened in porch either had windows that didn't open glass broke or holes in the screen. That would be the only place you would be able to sit and eat or play games. The picture must of been years ago we could not sit out there because of the condition of the windows . It was very hot in there we got one towel set for each person so I had to wash everyday. There is no place really to let the dog out just a spot weed whacked around the picnic table the house is just a few yards from a busy hwy. the beds were comfy but no door on the big bedroom or a privacy screen to change behind.

Quaint, quirky rustic cottage.

My brother and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Cooperstown and surrounding region. The cottage was pleasant and comfortably furnished with a bright country kitchen and roomy bathroom with laundry. Towels were plentiful. Our only concern centered around the erratic hot water which was undependable for showering; it was at times a little too invigorating and not sufficient for washing one's hair. Also, we were unable to figure out how to operate the propane heater and couldn't locate any visible control to either turn it on or adjust what appeared to be a thermostat. We ended up relying on the infrared heater in the living room and turning up the baseboard heat in the bathroom and leaving the door open. Since the weather was turning colder this was important to us. The property was attractive and nicely landscaped. There appeared to be a path leading up the hill to the rear, but we ran out of time to explore before the weather changed. All in all we had a great time . The cottage was remarkably clean and tidy. The kitchen was reasonably-well equipped and plenty of A/C units for warm weather. Cooperstown is a great little town and the people very friendly. Though the baseball theme is everywhere, there is plenty else to do and the arts are also prominent, as well as homage to the town's great namesake. And Mel's at 22 has consistently delicious food worth repeat visits. Finally, even if your not particularly a baseball fan, it is well worth going into the Hall of Fame. There is a special aura reflecting the history and personalities of over a hundred and seventy years of an American tradition.

Starfield Cottage was quaint and well located between Cooperstown and CDP. It had great access to hiking trails, which our dog loved. Our family had a great time. Scott and Shoog were wonderful hosts.
