Enjoy self check-in, and a no contact stay at the Loft! As always the loft is sparkling clean! Every precaution has been taken to ensure a healthy and safe stay. NEW FOALS have arrived! Single night stays accepted Sunday thru Thursday only. A unique opportunity to stay on a working Virginia Certified Thoroughbred horse farm where we breed, raise, and race Thoroughbreds. The newly renovated barn loft hosts unbelievable views of the mountains and our horses out of it's large picture window. Peace and serenity are limitless here on our farm. The farm is less than 5 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. 15 minutes to downtown Roanoke. 30 minutes to Smith Mt Lake. 45 minutes to Blacksburg or Lynchburg. 7 miles from exit 150 on I81.
The loft space was created so our adult children would have ample space and privacy when they visited us. It has a small refrigerator as well as a wine cooler. A microwave, toaster and a hot plate with two burners. Pots and dishes. A beautiful farm sink and of course a coffee maker that brews a carafe or a single cup. A desk for writing or computer work. A large sitting area and a 70 inch TV. Wifi access, but due to our location and barn structure it is unreliable. It also houses my art studio. I only work in the studio periodically and certainly not when we have guests. The loft space turned out so very nice that we decide to share it. We hope you experience the same peace and serenity we do here on our farm. Truly a beautiful part of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Not a day goes by that we don't count our blessings!
Please enjoy the entire loft space. The area that has the big picture window with counter and stools is in my studio. I am a sculpture who works in water based clay. Look all you like but please "don't touch" thank you! We also have horse stalls and pasture turnout available if guest are traveling with their horses for a reasonable fee. There is a hiking trail behind the barn that goes to the top of the mountain. My son-in-law runs it! I suggest keeping it to a hike! We hope you enjoy your time here!
If I available during your visit, I am happy to schedule a time to show you around and introduce you to the animals on the farm from a social distance. However, I understand the desire for privacy! You are welcome to wander but never open gates or go inside any of the pastures. Please don't feed the horses as they can nip your fingers and some of our fences are electric. OUCH! This is a working farm and you have a bird's eye view from the loft. You will undoubtedly see the day to day chores, and hear tractor and horse noises. Due to the structure and location of the loft WiFi is unreliable. The 70 inch TV host over 200 pre-loaded movies of all varieties, but no cable or internet. Peace and serenity are limitless!

We had a spectacular view from our loft window. Its location is perfect for sightseeing in any direction without having to drive far. We saw deer in the morning and evenings in the pasture by our loft. Definitely recommend staying here. Thanks to our host for our stay.
The loft is located in the Virginia mountains outside of Roanoke. The views are scenic with horses, rolling hills and mountains. The loft is spacious and quiet. Ideal spot for a getaway.
This was our second stay and still such a delightful stay. Got a nice bit of walking in enjoying all the beautiful views. 5 star dining was a close 20 minutes away. Super clean and well stocked. It was a great time and a great host!
My fiancee and I really enjoyed staying here. It is convenient to the highway, restaurants, and downtown Roanoke while feeling like a little isolated peaceful retreat.
The barn loft is very nice and had all things we could possibly think to need. It is a unique and special space, and the views are sublime. The horses and other wildlife in the area really made this a standout experience. If you are an animal and nature lover, you will enjoy staying here.
John, our host, was very accommodating as well and made us feel welcome and at home. We hope to visit again sometime and stay a little longer!
The place was very clean. The access road was not good. Single lane and you have to back out when you meet a car. The steps to the loft were not conducive for old people. My husband and I are in our 70’s and had to unload and carry up steps. The lighting was dark inside the loft, and the stairs light did not work. All doors squeaked and the bathroom sinks were clogged and ran very very slowly. I saw a snake several times in the downstairs barn , on my way in and out. No smart TV. It is conveniently located to all tourist Traps .
Unique opportunity to visit a working horse farm that breeds thoroughbred racing horses. The owner John gave us a tour of the farm and explained its fascinating history. If you like horses, you’ll enjoy a stay here.
Property owner was very responsive to all my inquiries prior to arrival. Very helpful in suggesting points of interest and places to dine. Gave us a tour and history of the property and his horses. Very personable and accommodating.
this property was emaculate upon arrival. It was so calming and peaceful there. Horses wete wonderful to pet, many deer. The barn loft wss so warm and inviting. i am definetly looking forward to another visit.
Beyond a 5 star stay. This stay is very convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway! The property is gorgeous. We arrived and said Hi to the horses then made ourselves comfortable. Rain began shortly thereafter. It was then that our host texted and offered space to bring our motorcycles in out of the rain! What an incredible host and delightful stay. Thank You!
My favorite part was eating breakfast in front of the large picture window with great view of pastures of horses and mountain side. Loved the peaceful stay!
We are 4 friends that love to get away, hike & enjoy going out to eat. The barn loft was perfect for us. It was very clean and comfortable. The view from the loft was amazing! The only thing that maybe could be added is a table and chairs to play cards & board games on.
We came for the sunflower festival and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Our morning walk with coffee to pet the horses was our favorite part! 10/10 recommend!
Last minute country getaway. The apartment is very clean, well stocked and comfortable. Good A/C in 3 separated areas. We enjoyed seeing horses on the property. They do not sleep in the stables. They are out in the fields. Don’t expect to be able to enjoy time seating outside due to flies etc.
Thank you for welcoming are dwarf mini horse Ren -to stay in your barn too. She fell in love with your Thoroughbred in the paddock across from her stall. Summer lovin happen so fast. Lol The view is beyond breathtaking. The horses are so welcoming and gorgeous too. When we walked into where we would be staying it felt like home. Honestly for all the place offers the price is a steal. We stayed at many other places and paid five times as much, yet they didn’t compare to the relaxation and comfort we found here. Thank for the tour of the farm too.
My fiancé and I have stayed here twice! We love the location and the farm and the barn is beautiful. The loft is spacious, clean, and cozy! Everything you need - we will be back!
The horses are nice!
We had a wonderful one night stay at the barn loft. It is extremely clean, cozy, with comfy beds and an amazing view - there is a big window that looks out on the fences and horses. Short drive to downtown Roanoke. We have already recommended it to friends.
