About this property

Whistler style in the Sunshine Valley.

Have a Canadian wilderness experience in the Sunshine Valley. Two hours from the heart of Vancouver this gorgeous getaway is the perfect place to bring the people you love for a true log home adventure.
This beautiful suite is nestled in the woods in a small mountain community. If your goal is to get away from it all in a relaxing and fun atmosphere, you can come to the right place.

We are thirty minutes away from the Lodge at Manning Park where you can snowmobile, ski and snowshoe in the winter and swim, hike, canoe and paddle board in the summer. Also nearby are the Othello Tunnels, the city of Hope BC that has a thriving arts community, Kawkawa Lake for boating and fishing and the old town community of Yale.
The suite itself has a private entrance and hosts one very large bedroom with a fireplace and sitting area to snuggle in with a good book. The living room with a fireplace that has 1 fold out bed (not recommended for 5 and under) there is an open kitchenette with an eating bar where you can do almost anything but roast a turkey (but who wants to do that on a holiday anyway? :-) ). The bathroom is spacious and luxurious with heated tile floors. lots of hot water and a rain shower.
The suite is private and located downstairs from where the owners live. The ambiance is quite luxurious, champaign and strawberries style, so the perfect place to bring your sweetheart for a getaway. If we are around, you may even get invited for dinner.
You can rest your bones in the back yard and go for a walk in the neighbourhood to check out all of the beautiful cabins and log homes. Expect to get a hello from anyone you pass by on the road.
We are 15 minutes from Hope where you get gas and groceries, so make sure your tank is full and you bring the food you need. There is no pizza delivery here. :-) There is a local liquor store that also has a few emergency foods like milk and bread. Bring a cooler if your food will not fit in the mini fridge and make sure you leave them inside so it doesn't get invaded by the local critters. You will have internet access and cable TV with Netflix and Prime TV and cell service

Wonderful accommodations

Can't say enough about our 5-day stay. Beautiful house in an alpine neighborhood. All the comforts and peace you could ever want in a getaway. The suite was so warm and cozy with a coffee/tea bar to die for. Marion was an outstanding host, so helpful and accommodating and would highly recommend staying here!! Thank you so much Marion for making our stay perfect in your beautiful home.

Amazing owner to deal with

We had such a great time thank you. Such a beautiful place and area. The power went out unfortunately so we didn’t have heat or a way to cook for a few hours. Definitely not the owners fault. Thank you

Perfect for a short stay!

A great place for a short stay. The place was super comfy, well set up and great if you want a break away from it all. We based ourselves there as we were heading to Manning Park the next morning. Photos do show the place well and all facilities are as described. The kitchenette doesn't have a sink, so it does make for a tricky wash-up. Just think camping-style wash up in confined quarters and you will be fine. On that basis the overall experience you are truly glamping! The kitchen is fully stocked with a really great induction cook-top and toaster oven and fantastic cookware/utensils. We cooked there no problem. The tea/coffee area is well stocked with a generous variety of teas. Marion was super friendly, easy to communicate with and very accommodating. We enjoyed our stay.

About the host

Host profile image
This is us-Eddie and Marion. This photo is from our wedding day in 2010. We were sweethearts when we were in our early 20's, but lost each other then and found each other again in our 40's where we decided not to lose each other again and made it permanent.
I am currently a registered counsellor-I do adult therapy and Eddie works for a horticultural broker that imports seedlings and cuttings for greenhouses.
We have no kids, but a very spoiled 3 legged rescue cat that we adore.

Why they chose this property

Ravenstone Retreat had been our dream home, and last year we were finally able to realize the dream. We used to watch the show "Buying Alaska" and would drool over the gorgeous log homes in the woods. It was our dream to own something like that, where life seemed like more of an adventure than living in the city. Eddie always wanted to live where there was lots of snow and I had always dreamed of owning a lovely home where I could host people. I'm still pinching myself that the dream came true.

What makes this property unique

Eddie and I both love character above all else. We used to live in a brand new condo in the city with marble counter tops and all of the new bells and whistles. While it was comfortable, neither of us felt like it was home. It felt a bit too sterile for us. Now we have an even more beautiful home with TONS of character that we were able to make just as comfortable, but with a warm, inviting and cozy feeling. You can make a cup of tea and snuggle up in front of the fireplace with a good book or watch your favorite movie and feel right at home.
