We met family here for a long weekend. Check in was very relaxed and easy and the property owners were just the same. Talking to Paula and John felt like talking to people we'd known a long time. We had a great time!

Average Stay
Enjoyed the location & the hostesses were awesome! However, the air conditioning did not work properly in the boat making it very difficult to sleep. Additionally, we could not use the shower in the boat as the water would not drain.
My wife and two children used this as a base to visit family and my hometown. We had ideas of leaving to check out some area attractions and really just stayed put on the property the entire time! Plenty of games, fishing, swimming and just sitting in the nice shady grass area. Grills and evening bonfires complete with smores and fireflies! John and Paula were gracious hosts and we had fun reminiscing about the old Geneva days! Thank you for a great experience....5 stars!
We originally booked the smaller of the two houseboats, but ended up with the larger one. And, it was wonderful!!!! The beds upstairs are very comfortable. The kitchen has all of the appliances and dishes you may need. And, the back deck is right on the water. There is an abundance of wildlife including herons, geese, king fishers, swallows and more. We spent our time on the back deck watching the wildlife and all the boats passing through the canal, often chatting with the folks on the boats or in their kayaks.
The owners are great! Paula came down a few times and sat on the back deck chatting with us. John came by with his guided kayak tours and jokingly said if we stayed another longer they'd have to adopt us (we booked 2 nights and loved it there so much that we stayed 2 more!) Kind of wish they would have adopted us!! Good, down to earth people.
We can't wait to go back!!!

Fun Camping Alternative in Great Location
Our family of 5 had a great weekend on this fun houseboat! Paula and John could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. The boat is well-equipped and spacious. The queen master bed is very comfortable with memory foam mattress. The boys loved the novelty of the two double-bed sleeping berths below deck and our daughter was comfortable on the futon. Houseboat is one of two on Paula and John's charming campground, along with a yurt, a "glamping" setup and some other spots. They kindly included use of kayaks/canoes from their shop in our rental, and it was so much fun to tour around the canal looking for wildlife. Turtles and beaver dams abound! There's a large, shared (though we had to ourselves) bonfire pit that John stocks every night, so s'mores are a breeze. Full-size fridge on boat would make longer stays easy. Bathroom was roomy for a boat and toilet/sink/shower all worked great. Kids enjoyed fishing off the back of the boat (small blue gils, carp, sunfish and bass), as well as on the adjacent dock. Water was cool and clear and kids had ball swimming and floating in blow-up tubes on canal. Waterloo is a perfectly charming little town. We loved the Star Diner (twice!) and Ciccino's Pizza. Our only challenges on trip was that the weather was unusually hot for Upstate NY and the boat's air-conditioner struggled hard the first night to keep up; keeping drapes drawn second day helped. And we got a bit chewed by mosquitoes at campfire at night (we should have used the insect repellent Paula and John left fireside more quickly!), but that's to be expected with waterfront summer living. Location nestled between Cayuga and Seneca Lakes was so convenient for visiting both and hitting some wineries. Such a peaceful, pretty spot - we could have easily spent more time here. :-)

Ok
The hosts were very nice. The houseboat was ok. I think it was over priced. The water in the houseboat had a funky smell. We didn’t drink it and used bottled water for coffee. We showered but I didn’t wash my hair because of it. I wasn’t expecting camping but this certainly is! Let me say again, the hosts are great! Just not a place for us.
Everything is exactly how it is described. The Houseboat was very clean, in a great environment, and the water is so relaxing. We went to fish and caught a few. Paula and John are great people, and make you feel very welcome.
If you are looking for a unique experience this is it , close your eyes to whatever distresses you , open your heart to the rest .
We recommend the boat trip to hear the’ voice ‘ in the depths of the locks.
Thank you John and Paula. Wonderful.
We thouroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay on the houseboat. To start, Paula was very accomodating about letting us check in early because of our schedule on the date of arrival. The houseboat was surprisingly roomy, good sized living area and wlell furnished kitchenette. We only needed one bedroon but there were two full bedrooms as well as room in the lower level for a couple of kids. The mattress was super comfortable, and we enjoyed the view from our room overlooking the water. The back deck of the boat was awesome to have your morning coffee on while watching blue herons fish and geese herding their goslings.Same deck offered a beautiful view of the stars and fireflies at night. Very relaxing! Although it was a little chilly and we were pressed for time on our visit, there were lots of fun things to do- paddleboating, kayaks and canoes to use as well as lots of games and a fire pit.Our hosts were very welcoming and we would definately stay here again and recommend this property.
We were heading to the Finger Lakes to take a trip to the Seneca Army Depot and were looking for something different, when I came across this listing. It was a very cute location, easy to get to, and close to everything we wanted to do. The owners were very nice and very welcoming. The houseboat was adorable, and had everything that you could want and more. It was really nice sitting outside on the boat, on the water, on a later summer night. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a different type of accommodation.
The houseboat was cute & cozy.. Paula & John are wonderful. Enjoyed our stay. Being from the area it is a perfect location & the house boat has everything you need for a comfortable stay.
From swimming, to fishing, to kayaking every evening, to finishing the night with s’mores. The water was calm and cool, everyone was super social and inviting.
The host were the best I have ever had! If we needed anything, they were there and I can not forget how much my boys adored John. They are still telling me stories of their adventures. We had a blast, thank you so much!

Basic Maintenance needed, should have been advertised as a camp.
The area where the boat was was surrounded by other rentals pretty close by. The owners seemed very nice but the boat had ants and was not advertised as a camp.
What a charming houseboat! And fun hosts. We stayed for 2 nights and slept very well in the memory foam mattress. Enjoyed the campfire and stories and taking the kayak out on the canal. We hope to return next year for a longer visit.
We were greeted by Paula and John, who were so very friendly and informative. Sitting on the back deck of the houseboat was a treat morning and evening. We biked the area with beautiful views of the Cayuga and Seneca Lakes. A bike trail across from the property was a pretty ride. The houseboat had everything we needed. Loved being on the water! A lovely getaway!!
Perfect getaway! Plenty of on-site activities for kids. Between swimming, kayaking, and fishing right off the back of the houseboat, we never had to leave the property. Less than an hour to Syracuse and Rochester if you want shopping, museums etc. Great friendly owners on site to help with whatever questions you may have! Highly recommend!
