Large bright home with plenty of comfortable seating inside and out. Many upgrades to the home, beautiful water view and access to the National Park is very quick. Lots of hiking choices from hard to a stroll.Ocean dips are close or beaches not too far-sand or rock. .
Beautiful house overlooking Somes Sound! we loved having breakfast on the porch watching boats and birds! convenient location, quiet but 10-20mins to hiking trails, Bar Harbor, 5mins from SW Harbor. Host was very accessible, responsive. This is our 2nd time staying at this place, we'll be back.
The house was very cozy. The view is beautiful. It was close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. There is only one shower available. There is a full bathroom with a double sink and shower. The second bathroom is a half bath with a sink and toilet. We made it work for five adults. You have to go through one of the bedrooms to get to the third bedroom with a daybed and futon bed.
Very quiet. Deer munching on apples in the surrounding grass and field. Beautiful view of the water! Home well furnished and included lovely plants-some of which were flowering. Property manager was very helpful. We'll be back!!
Wonderful property for six people. Very good location with a beautiful water view. Excellent seating inside and outside for everyone to enjoy summer in Acadia. Excellent hiking nearby and rock beaches for easy access to the ocean at all tides. One family member has mobility issues and had no issues getting around indide and out.
When you get out of your car, the view just knocks your socks off, and the same view is available from many windows inside. The house is very private and is comfortably furnished and, except for the lack of a dishwasher, has all the modern amenities. The owner is very nice, and accommodating. I would definitely go back again.
This is the first time we stayed in this area - usually stay in Bar Harbor center. This was very central to all locations and hiking and was nice discovering restautrants in Southwest Harbor. the view of the Sound was amazing!
Bobby was very helpful. We had a glitch in our plans and she was very helpful.
We had a great stay. The neighborhood is very interesting. The views amazing and the house was much bigger than we thought. A great family house. Thank you Bobby.

Liked: Check-in
Disliked: Communication, listing accuracy
Awful Experience
1. Lights in living room didn’t work
2. TV didn’t work - my husband had to go in the basement to check circuit breakers
3. No hot water
4. Awful communication with property owner
5. Dead mice and feces in basement
Property owner expected my husband to be the repairman on our vacation. Not happening. We left to rent a hotel after one night and now are fighting for a refund.
Also, you have to DRIVE to a boat yard to kayak, it’s not within walking distance.
Really enjoyed our stay. The views are amazing overlooking Stones Sound. The house was clean and larger than we anticipated. Great yard and deck and ideal location for exploring the island and Acadia National Park. Bobby the owner was responsive and a pleasure to deal with.
Quiet location with a beautiful view of sunrises and sunsets from the wrap-around deck, and convenient to all parts of MDI. Enjoyed the views of boats and wildlife in Somes Sound. We were even visited by a family of white tailed deer eating the apples in the yard. The gas fireplace was nice to come home too on the late October nights. Would love to come back! Thanks Bobby:)
We had a fantastic stay on this property, all the comforts of home! I especially loved the gas fireplace, it quickly took a chill off of us after a day of exploring the island on a cool blustery day! I definitely will be recommending this property to anyone interested in our trip to Mt. Desert Island.
Nous avons apprécié la localisation, la proximité des sentiers de randonnée, la vue sur le Sound, la compagnie des chevreuils, le potager où nous avons cueilli des tomates, et la propreté impeccable de la maison.
Great location, beautiful views of boats and water from living room and awesome rear deck, very quiet and secluded. Well maintained with all essentials. Perfect location in Downeast Acadia for visiting all parts of Park and quaint coastal harbors and towns. The owner was very helpful with recommendations for places to see and dine. Highly recommend this home for couples or family.
I rented this property for 1 week with my mom, 2kids and husband. We wanted a place with views and ability for my son to fish easily. The location is central to SW/ Acadia trails and close to Northeast and Seal. Its a great location for many hikes on the SW side and a short car ride to SW high street. The boatyard was a nice bonus for my fish loving soon who could walk down and cast for a couple of hours in the afternoon. Hall Quarry is a quite street but the main road is a bit tough for young kids on bikes so we rode to the carriage trails. The house it self has a grandma's house feel in the best way. We were comfortable with the room size and layout. My son stayed in the room that linked ours but it was very spacious and he loved having a water view. My mom and daughter enjoyed the other 3rd room and had a private half bath to themselves. It is a bit of a throwback but clean and perfect for our needs. Barbara was helpful and a perfect host.
Thank you for providing a wonderfully comfortable setting for our family getaway! We loved the proximity to well everything and returning from our daily adventures to gather on the deck and reflect while taking in the magnificent view. Bobby’s home was fantastically clean and the kitchen equipped.
Thank you.
The location and community are both quiet and incredibly beautiful. The view of the boat yard, Somes Sound, and Sargent Mountain from the house is wonderful. Overall, the location is well appointed to do laundry, cook, grill, and enjoy the wrap around deck if one chooses. It served as a great retreat as we explored Acadia National Park for the week.

Great location and an awesome view!
Very clean and comfortable home. Close to town and hiking but away from the touristy areas. The house was very comfortable and clean. We had everything we could want available to us. The view was amazing, having coffee in the morning with the lobster boats coming and going, the deer in the yard, it was amazing. My wife and I come to the area a few times a year, this location is our favorite. Bobby was a great host and very responsive. Highly recommend this rental for your vacation.

Amazing views and charming home
The house was just the right size for us and we could see coming back so easily. It was so welcoming. Beautiful views, easy access to Acadia National Park and some of our other favorite local places. Echo Lake, Thuya Garden, Atlantic Brewing. We made it into Southwest Harbor for dinner for the first time and it was great. Our kids (3 & 5) are anxious for a return visit, they couldn't get over the deer in the backyard and the beautiful stars at night. It felt like home in an instant.

Great little house in an amazing location!
We spent 7 nights in this wonderful house, which was frankly way more room than 3 of us needed, but it was such a pleasure to have plenty of space for our stuff, a garage for our bikes, etc. The extra room off of the MBR was nice to hang out and watch TV in the evenings after a full day of activities.
Bobby was very attentive and responsive to our needs, an excellent hostess.
Can't beat the location, overlooking Somes Sound, and with easy access to all of Acadia, including Echo Lake beach < 3 miles away, and Eagle Lake about 10-12 minute drive. We were able to put in our kayaks at the family marina right next door.
Woke to beatiful sunrises over the sound most mornings, just sublime.
The bathroom is a bit dated and only has a shower, which was really about the only minor negative about this home.
We would definitely stay there again the next time we visit MDI.

About the host

I am a local to the Island. I grew up in Manset and my dad owns the boatyard down on the water. My grandparents owned the house and I am so happy to have been able to buy it from my parents.
Why they chose this property
My grandparents lived happily in this house for 30 years. I worked in the garden for them every summer - planting tomatoes for my Italian grandfather to make spaghetti sauce. The village of Hall Quarry was originally inhabited by stone cutters brought over from a small town in the mountains of Italy. The pink granite from these quarries graces the treasury steps in Washington DC.
