About this property

Country Acreage: Escape, Relax, Renew.

A great setting whether you are seeking adventure, solitude, or family and nature connection!

Relax on your wrap-around front porch, roast brats and s'mores on the fire pit, hike or bike the trails in our 50 acre forest, play soccer on the front acre, throw a fishing line over the Mud Creek bridge.

Your acreage is part of a working farm; your closest neighbors are the nearby cows and calves. Access is via 2-3 miles of gravel roads. Enjoy privacy having the entire 2000 sf home and acreage to yourself! (Behind your 2 acre yard, you'll see and avoid our rustic, rusty and just plain ugly outbuildings, which are part of our pasture renter's lease.)

You'll love the spacious new upstairs bathroom, and the vintage bath downstairs. An eat-in kitchen is adjacent to a large dining room.

Accommodations in your updated century home include three private bedrooms plus a bedroom with daybed (through which traffic to the bathroom passes) to sleep eight. Downstairs: bedroom with pocket doors and a queen bed is adjacent to a vintage bathroom. Upstairs enjoy 1 large new bathroom, 1 king memory- foam bed, one full bed and one trundle daybed = two twins.

Kitchen staples, bathroom essentials and a washer and dryer are onsite. Living a short distance away, we are available to meet your needs and comfort. Check “Amenities” to see details and info on our sometimes limited cell phone access.

We are 10 miles to the quaint small town of Malvern, 8 miles to the Wabash bike trail; 30 minutes to the Pony Creek Watershed and 45 minutes or less to downtown Omaha; Offut AFB and Google Data Center are under40 minutes. Local restaurants, wineries and summer music venues are within 10-20 miles.

We thoroughly enjoy meeting our guests and making your stay enjoyable!!

We can’t wait to return to this amazing property

If you desire beautiful landscapes and nature surrounding you then this property will exceed your expectations. Also if you are a birdwatcher, just a walk up the road is a treasure trove of unique birds to see in a wooded area with a mowed path.

Loved it!

We enjoyed our stay at the home! We were in the area for a concert in Omaha, and the drive into the city was super easy. The house was well stocked, the beds were comfy, the internet was strong and the house itself was rich with history and charm. We would definitely stay there again if we were ever in the area! Jeanne was an excellent host and answered all of my messages promptly!

Great Remote Home

A beautiful home in a remote area. Loved hearing the birds and cows. The house had all that we needed for the kitchen, bedrooms, and bathroom. The owner emailed great instructions prior to our trip, which was time saving, as we had a LONG drive. About 45 minutes to Omaha. We always love a washer/dryer option. Thanks for a great stay.

a gift

We gathered as a family to memorialize our Grandson's life. Any place would have worked as family was the important part and of course our memories. The gift came in the form of the quiet old farm house set in the farm lands of Iowa. The birds singing the bright green of new spring fields and trees and the new mothers and their calves who roamed near by, even a rainbow on our last day there. Thank you Jeanne Marie and Gary for allowing us to make your home ours for this important occasion. Denise

Country Charm-

Visiting the farmhouse was just what my family and I needed! In fact my wife and I are planning our next trip. The house was very comfortable. It was clean quiet and charming. We spent most of our time outdoors exploring the pasture and woods. Mud creek is also impressive- it’s name is quite fitting. We met the neighbors (the cows) who gave us a little shout out both morning and night. Also Bo (the neighbors dog) was a great companion who pretty much guided the way through the trails- My children laugh about how he was in nearly every picture. Our Host Jeanne and Gary were very gracious and we can’t thank them enough for sharing their home with us M Johnson September 2018

Back to The Farm

Eighty years ago I grew up on a farm in Minnesota. Our farm home was not as fancy but it was home. The big yard and privacy of a rural setting took me back too my early years. I would recommend this home to anyone who wants to get away from the rat race of city life, while still enjoying all the comforts of life in the twenty-first century. Bob Roberts

Perfect Country Getaway

The location and home is perfect for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of City and Suburban life for our family (from Illinois, California and Florida). The house and the host our wonderful Anything you need is there and some. Red Oak is nearby for shopping. If you want a little bit of night life or major shopping, Council Bluffs and Omaha are not too far away. This was our third visit and we will be looking to return again. Marilyn, Solana Beach

Great Home for a Wedding at Palace Event Center

Our son was married at the Palace Event Center, and we wanted to stay nearby with our family. Jeanne’s farmhouse was perfect for our needs. We arrived late and she had the lights on for a warm welcome. The house was well equipped. We needed an iron, a mixer, and extra fridge space, all of which Jeanne had. Her precautions about covid gave us peace of mind, and she is a great communicator. My favorite part was peaceful mornings on the wraparound porch before everyone was awake. It was a great stay!

Lovely, peaceful property with excellent Host communication.

We've been meeting with former neighbors for several years. When the pandemic hit, our go-to spot was sold, and we had to find a new location. Jeanne's farm was our choice and we could not be more pleased. It's a beautiful restored home on a century farm. Jeanne's communication was excellent and she made sure we had everything we needed. We especially loved the fire pit, where we spent a clear evening looking at stars--seeing the Milky Way, many shooting stars, and a couple satellites. The house very clean, and stocked with basic supplies for cooking, towels, and extra bedding if needed. Jeanne let us know she was available if we needed anything. Yes, the property is on gravel and you have to drive several miles on gravel to get to it, but it's worth it. Peaceful, cozy, and a great place to unplug (a little) and enjoy each other's company. We will definitely be back next fall.

Awesome weekend

We loved it. Everything we needed was there. Our first comment was, “wish we could stay longer”. Nice quiet area, had a fire in the fire pit and relaxed. Very clean and easy instructions. Only thing we forgot to do was buy some food and drink items ahead of time, so we had to run into a gas station. Beautiful 1900’s home.

Can I give more than 5 stars?

Everything about this property was above and beyond my expectations. You could tell walking in that the house was very well taken care of and very clean. It had plenty of places for our group of six to both gather and spread out as needed. The beds were incredibly comfortable, which was important to me as we had members of our party with bad backs. On top of this, Jeanne went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of. She provided a sprinkler and some ice pops to help us get through one of the hottest weekends of the year, although the house stayed so comfortable temperature wise we barely needed them! We also got to try some fresh garlic and zucchini from the garden and they were delicious. Thank you for making our stay such a memorable family gathering!

Country House

Beautiful older farm house! While the location is a little remote, you can get anything you need from local small towns or 20 minute drive away. While we were there for a burial, it would be a nice house to vacation at. I'm sure next time we have a need to be in the area, there will be competition from the our family to book the house.

A retired teacher, I returned from Colorado to the land where I grew up, our family's farm since 1868. I've enjoyed refurbishing this home where my father was born, where my brother and I grew up and where my children and now grandchildren and dozens of cousins visit and love. Meeting and creating great experiences for my guests is a joy!

What makes this property unique

Your 2000 sf home is your private haven with a fire pit outside your kitchen door, an acre front yard, a nearby tiny creek and 50 acre forest with picnic area and trails to explore. The Wabash bike trail is less than 8 miles away. Or, swing on the front porch enjoying the lovely view, listening to the gentle sounds of Mud Creek nearby. Utter relaxation with opportunity for connection with family, friends and nature.
