Disappointing Stay at Villa in Vidreres...
The owners of the villa (elderly couple) manage the cleaning and changeover of the villa, so the fact that they had not a single word of English, was a serious disadvantage. Thankfully, one of our group had good Spanish.
However, not mentioned on the website, and which we only discovered on arrival at the villa, was the following: it's at the top of a very steep hill (car essential), no towels of any description provided (we were out another €120 min to buts towels at supermarket), electricity will cut out altogether when more than 2 appliances are switched on (eg. Kettle and dishwasher), no aircon or fans provided at all, despite asking in advance, and temperatures of 40°+ in August, poor Wifi (despite a public telecommunications mast on top of villa), poor water supply (no toilet paper to be placed in toilet, so bins to be used (very unhygenic, especially in hot weather). One of the biggest annoyances at the villa, was the number of neighbours' dogs barking throughout the night... at least 4 or 5 in the surrounding houses... so very little sleep was had.
To top it all off, on departure, the owners tried to take €100 off our €700 cash security deposit, for sand in the pool, which not only was negligible, but also impossible to avoid, given that there was no pump filter system in the small pool.
In short, it was not the relaxing, restful holiday we had hoped for, and the money paid was certainly not worth it, given the lack of proper services at the property.
