Tucked away near the Blue Ridge Mountains, yet only minutes from Lake James and Morganton, is a great family style retreat. Ask about our access to golf cart rental, it has to be reserved ahead of time since it is offsite. You are lodging in style but have the feel of practically camping! The home is updated with 4 bedrooms, and 2 baths and is located at the end of a private road. Surrounded by woods, there is only one other home in sight. The best part of this retreat is the two ponds, one for swimming which has concrete sides and a sandy bottom and is fed from a fresh spring, the other is for catch and release fishing and has bass, crappie, blue gill, and more. Above the swimming pond is an outdoor covered cooking area with sink, refrigerator, and electricity for large outdoor entertaining. If you want to enjoy nature while lodging in comfort, this is the perfect balance. You are only minutes away from local wineries, Lake James, Morganton downtown shopping, restaurants, craft breweries, Catawba River, parks and trails. You can also jump on I-40 and travel to nearby Asheville in only 50 minutes. We welcome corporate bookings also.
Owner disclosure to guests: The Swimming pond is seasonal from late Spring to early September. This rental is located within a larger family tract and the family does reserve the right to access the property and use both ponds. Renter does have full access to both ponds and picnic shelter but it may not be exclusive. Feel free to contact the property manager to inquire about use. The owner had indicated that July 4th and the first Sunday in August, there will be family members using the common area until 3pm. All booked guests are always welcome to also use the areas and join any activities. Feel free to contact the owner directly.

Pleasant Space

We enjoyed our stay while attending the McDowell Tech Fire College over the weekend. Had a small hiccup with the heater being the first tenants of the season but all was well after a speedy visit from an HVAC Tech. The house was comfy and serene.

Hidden Gem

We loved our stay! Fishing was great and the golf cart was an added bonus. Biscuit the dog will be missed by our kiddos who fell in love with him. The house was clean and well equipped, plenty of room for our family of 6. Close proximity to Morganton and many other NC attractions. We will be back!

Family Reunion

My family loved this property! We were visiting family in the area and the location and size were perfect. The property is large and secluded, and with access to the two ponds it felt like we were staying at a private summer camp. Bring your fishing poles as the fishing pond is well stocked! I would also recommend bringing life vests for smaller children as the swimming pond is deep. The manager of the property was very responsive and helpful before and during our stay. When we arrived we found a freshly baked coconut cake in the refrigerator and it was fabulous! Even those of us who don’t generally like coconut loved it! We will definitely stay here again when we’re visiting family.

Very Nice and Private

We enjoyed our stay here. The house was clean and very spacious. The best part of this property is the privacy. There is only one other house within direct line of sight but otherwise it is completely surrounded by woods. The house is also close to a lot of hiking trails and other attractions. Would definitely book this property again.

Beautiful Property

The photos were accurate and the property was beautiful. We enjoyed the fishing and swimming and the house was comfortable for everyone. Really close to the Highway but you can't hear the noise at all. It's definitely secluded which we liked but pretty close to downtown Morganton. Thank you for hosting us!

What a great spot! Access to golf cart to roam the grounds- most amazing pond for catch and release bass, crappie, pumpkin seed- house is super cozy- reclining couches were heaven. Beds and linens are good quality…Great place to unwind!

This was the perfect location and convienent to see our son and his children for our spring break. Plenty of room for everyone. It looked like the pictures. This is our 3rd time staying in this beautiful property! The hospitality, cleanliness and location is amazing! Mr Bruce is very welcoming, we love the coconut pie every time! We rented the golf cart and enjoyed driving it around the property and seeing the animals. Perfect location between Boone, Grandfather, Beech, Asheville and Chimney Rock! We will be back next year again!

This property met what we were looking for. The house was clean and comfortable. The privacy is also another plus. There was an unexpected treat awaiting us in the fridge. The host had made the best coconut cake all of us had ever eaten. No way to describe it but phenomenal.

The house is just as pictured. It was clean, the kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room. The swimming pond and fishing pond were much larger than expected based on the pictures. We had a great time and would definitely rent again.

Family Friendly Rental

This property was perfect for my family with young children. It was comfortable and spacious and had all the amenities. The kids loved going down the hill to swim and explore nature. We will return to the Queen's Pond.

Beautiful house!

Not our first time staying here… property is centrally located between Boone, Banner Elk and Asheville. Home is super cozy, comfortable beds and everything you need to relax and enjoy a family vacation. Owners are super hospitable and nice! We’ve been coming to the mountains for new year’s for many years and this is one of favorite properties. Location is perfect to enjoy all the sky resorts and snow tubing and also drive to Lake James, Chimney Rock and Ashville. The kids love renting the golf cart and driving it up and down the road.

We loved our experience at this beautiful property! The extra attention to detail from the owners was amazing! Decor and supplies that aren’t standard were so much appreciated. The homemade coconut cake left by the owner was AMAZING! Could’ve eaten the whole thing by myself. 🤗 Property was great and we loved the fishing pond. It was frozen the first few days, but that was expected with the cold weather. Loved the secluded property, the fishing pond, the swimming pond, the swings, the river/creek, and the sweet little duck we made friends with and were so sad to leave, and the board games for family fun. We are looking forward to booking again in the spring or summer! Thank you again for everything! 💗💗💗

Wonderful retreat

This simple farmhouse supplied just what we needed - a quiet retreat with simple amenities. The swimming hole was a blast (a word to the wise- remove your Apple Watch before taking a high board jump!) and the proximity to Lake James was ideal. The kitchen is modestly appointed, depending on the type of cooking you’re planning, you may want to supplement. And the coconut cake we found in the fridge was amazing. I expect we’ll be back next Summer!

Great location

This place literally is maybe 1 mile off of I40. Love where it was located. The house was very clean, well represented in the pictures. The swimming pond was nice enough, a little murky on the bottom but bring swimming shoes and you will love it. It was very warm water. Best of all was the cake waiting for us in the fridge.
