COVID-19 Best Practices

Avoid COVID-19 by taking additional cleaning and disinfection measures to help prevent its spread and help ensure the safety of travelers and partners:

-Use hand sanitizer & antibacterial soap products when using entry points and key areas, we also encourage hand washing regularly with water and soap for at least 20 seconds

-Implement social distancing policies during check-in and check-out, and during any interactions with staff or local community. When possible, encourage minimizing interactions

-For your safety, we recommend removing shoes when entering the property and leaving them at the entrance (if possible, outside)

-Refer to the WHO + CDC Website to identify symptoms

-Wear a mask when leaving the house

Researchers from UC-Davis and the University of Oregon published their report in the journal mSystems and came up with some recommendations for healthier work spaces in the age of COVID-19.

Two of their suggestions: opening windows for better air circulation and opening blinds or drapes for more natural sunlight.

Additional cleanliness benefits at this home include large windows and UV Light allowing for the availability of fresh air and natural light throughout the home.

Excellent stay at The Box

Matt was a very informative and communicative host. He met us at arrival to orient us to the house, and was available immediately by text any time we had questions. The house is very unique and an architectural gem. We especially enjoyed the living room with the slider open, and the copper soaking tub.

Special

We have been lucky to have rented many lovely vacation homes over the years and this home is top of the list. From check-in to check-out, Kat was welcoming, available and helpful. The home is like living in a work of art - and happens to have a fantastic location. Thank you for opening your home for rental and we hope to be back someday.

Incredible!

We cannot say enough about our incredible stay in the Box House. The manager and owner are very caring and make sure you are comfortable and are sensitive to anything you may need. The home and location are stunning. It is a truly zen experience as the home is outfitted with special books, water fountains, yoga mats, patios and spectacular views! We had a great dinner at Pace which was close by, would highly recommend dining there. This home is close to many cool places in Hollywood and LA. We will definitely return!

Our 2nd perfect stay.

I reviewed this spectacular property more thoroughly in May 2021, but suffice it to say we were impressed enough to return for another vacation in 2022. The Box House is everything you expect it to be from the photos and other information. We enjoyed meeting Kat for our check in. It is beautifully decorated and a very private and quiet setting. Please read my earlier review from 2021 for more detailed information. You can’t go wrong with this one. Certainly one of the best rentals we have ever had!!

EVERYTHING YOU SEE HERE AND MORE.

Well, how many adjectives are there for “stunning” or “breathtaking”? Need I say more? Stay here in Laurel Canyon and you will not be disappointed. The house is a masterpiece of wood and glass with plenty of excellent, eclectic reading materials to keep you entertained for days if you wish. We never got into the private copper tub on the hillside behind the home, but we had to save something for next time. I loved every minute of this experience. My inclination has always been to travel to San Francisco and Big Sur, but I would include L.A. now just to include this home and the many interesting places to visit here in this area too including the coast, the history of rock and roll in the ‘70s, east to Joshua Tree, etc. Thank you to the owners for providing such an immaculate, soul-stirring place to rest and relax and for being such a pleasure to work with.

The Box is next level

Staying at The Box was an amazing experience. The architecture, decor and atmosphere really made my stay. A big bonus was the great communication with and accommodating host and his assistant. Easy check-in, the home was spotless and I would definitely come back again. Highly recommended all around.

"WOW!" is all I can say!

I wish I had the time to write the novel it would take to describe all of the fabulous aspects of this home. Driving up the hill to reach this house, I felt a The Mamas and the Papas vibe - "California Dreaming" went through my mind on more than one occasion over the 3 nights we were there. The neighborhood is so quiet and serene. This home definitely stands out amongst the more casual and modest homes that I picture in my mind as being cozy and fabulous in their own right on the inside. Kat welcomed us and she could not have been more welcoming. She offered us sparkling water while we toured the home and she didn't miss a beat describing all of the amenities and how to open the folding glass window panels to open up the living room to the natural beauty of Laurel Canyon - this is probably the biggest draw to this home and we took full advantage of it! The kitchen is very modern with everything you need to cook (which we did not), make coffee (Nespresso pods were left for our use!) and even a couple of bottles of red wine were in the wine fridge. Nice touch! We stopped at Trader Joe's on the way up and grabbed some half & half, croissant bread, butter, sliced fruit, cheese and some champagne and wine for our stay. We were set! The bedrooms were fantastic and they are all upstairs. Top of the line linens were on the beds and the master bedroom is right above the living room with floor to ceiling windows with another fabulous view of the canyon. Outside behind the house and right off of one of the bedrooms is a sitting area with a couch and chairs to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail. Climb a few more steps up the hill to a platform in the back yard with a gorgeous copper tub that has two seats with two chairs beside it and talk about the view from up there! Just stunning. We also took advantage of the tub that keeps the water warm with the copper insulation. It just felt so decadent! It was a gorgeous afternoon in the 60's and we felt like we were in heaven! Thanks to Matt for his hospitality. He was very responsive, although we didn't need much - his proactive check-ins to make sure we had everything we needed were very appreciated. I'm looking forward to our next visit and to also check out Matt's place in Austin! Thanks for having us!

The house has been beautifully decorated with attention to detail so to not take away from the amazing views in this completely glass home. The kitchen is fully stocked making you feel right at home. We instantly wanted to return the moment we left. Great vacation!

Beautiful Home, Amazing Views, Great City

My family and I loved this house. The balance between form and function is perfect. Floor to ceiling/wall-to-wall windows provide amazing views of Laurel Canyon from every room. The living room wall/window opens completely, exposing the house to the open air and the sounds of the birds and waterfalls. Very nice. For music lovers, the music room has 2 guitars (very nice touch) and the master has a record player and records (also a very nice touch). The roof has seating and is great for yoga, playing guitar, or just enjoying the view. If you are inclined to leave the house, Hollywood, shopping, hiking, and great food is minutes away. We went to the LA Farmer's Market nearly every day for lunch... Great food! If you are open to driving for an hour or so, you can hit any number of diverse beaches (cliffs, rocks, sand, boardwalks). We took the Pacific Coast Hwy from Long Beach down to Laguna Beach. That is a great way to spend a day. We could have stayed another week and not accomplished everything we wanted to do. I would absolutely recommend this house to anyone considering LA for vacation. It's beautiful, has everything you need, is perfectly located, and the hosts are amazing.

An architectural marvel, picturesque and a host who works diligently to ensure your comfort.

It’s not often that you walk into a house and the glossy coffee table architecture book has pictures of your home for the next couple of days. Matt’s home oozes character, beauty and uniqueness. In the heart of a canyon with spectacular views, prepare to be enveloped by luxury. The opening walk-through was seamless and thorough (bottles of wine chilling in the fridge for us, upscale bath oils and salts ready for the bath, Ghiradelli chocolates tempting us), and within 20 minutes we were unpacked, sitting in the living room with the floor to ceiling windows open to the canyon breeze, enjoying cocktail hour. My wife and I have a fondness for books (don’t miss Book Soup on Sunset Blvd) and Matt’s home is a treasure trove of books, a mini-library. Perfect. Matt provided us with detailed lists and descriptions of nearby attractions, restaurants and shopping. He also suggested the Trebek Open Space hike for me. It’s probably a 5-minute drive to the trailhead, but I preferred the 40-minute walk along the winding canyon roads. I was in the Trebek park for another 40 minutes and only saw four other people - beautiful vistas of life in the Canyon and city views. I’d highly recommend the walk. This was an ideal getaway for us and we have nothing but praise for Matt’s home and his world-class effort to make our stay so memorable. Thanks!

The Box House property was incredible!

Our family of four had an amazing time in LA and loved staying at this property. It was clean, had incredible views and Matt (the owner) was extremely helpful in helping us plan our entire trip to the west coast. We would highly reccomend this property to anyone planning a family trip to LA. Matt is an incredible resource if you have any questions about activities, restaurants, museums etc. Our favorite thing was the VIP tour at Universal Studios..well worth the money for a great day of fun! Can't say enough good things about our experience and the luxuary of coming home each day to a beautiful, calming, peaceful home.

Stunningly peaceful oasis just moments from city!

The Box House exceeded all our expectations. Photos capture the property very well, but being in the space takes it to another level. No detail has been spared. From the sound of the lovely water feature in the vestibule to the rooftop patio seating and garden, every vista is tranquil. Our family definitely plans to return and had a vacation to remember forever!

The only home I would ever book again for vacation

Our stay exceeded any and all expectations I had, it was AMAZING! The location and views are gorgeous . Clean , very well maintained, and great service too. I love how close it is to shopping, restaurants, and hiking yet feels private and far away at the same time. I would Highly Recommend it to all my friends and family members. Can't wait to return for another awesome vacation.

One-of-a-Kind Modern Sanctuary in the Hills!

This stunning architectural marvel nestled high in the Hollywood Hills really lives up to its name "Stairway to Zen" (yes there are a lot of stairs). Once inside you have all the modern amenities you'd expect at a 5-star resort. The personal staff was friendly and greeted us when we checked-in, the complimentary gift was a nice touch too! Overall our feedback is 100% positive, we really didn't want to leave. The view was so serene - surrounded by all the nature... you really feel disconnected from the busy city life of Los Angeles (keep your eye open for a family of white tail deer). We wish we had more time to utilize the small private patio for a BBQ. Pro Tip: Take full advantage of the custom "steam shower". As a heads-up, the road that leads to the house is very narrow so drive carefully. Also there is only 1 parking spot (in front of the garage) if you have guests parking - it might be a bit of a hike for them and make sure to tell them to park tightly to the curb. One of our guest's car got a slight hit by a passing car. Luckily they were nice enough to leave their information.
