Charming Point Reyes Cottage with Decks and Lovely Garden

———-
The Robin's Nest is a cottage home surrounded by decks and a lovely flower garden and located in the heart of the Point Reyes National Seashore.

The Robin's Nest was built as a hunting and fishing retreat in the 1920's when people came to the area by boat, train and stage coach. It is located in a residential area overlooking Tomales Bay in a sun belt. It is 3 miles from the Point Reyes National Seashore headquarters and the park trail system. It is 2 miles from the town of Point Reyes Station which is the regional center(although only has a population of 500) with restaurants, an excellent grocery store and various shops. The Point Reyes lighthouse is approximately 15 miles out to the coast and provides an excellent vantage point where the whales pass by twice a year .

Inverness Park and the Robin's Nest are 38 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge so it is readily accessible to San Francisco. Because it is located in the National Seashore and along the coast line, it is in a protected zone so the surroundings are rural even though so close to the urban attractions of the Bay Area.

The house has a living room, dining area, kitchen, two bedrooms and two baths. A third bedroom and bath are located in a separate smaller building behind the main house. The two buildings are totally surrounded by approximately 900 square feet of decking which allows for taking full advantage of the outdoors.

There is a sauna and one of the bathrooms in the main house has a steam bath, so getting the ache out after a long run or hike is no problem.

The house is well equipped with a gas grill, TV (with cable tv) WiFi , and comfortable furniture and art work reflecting the Latin American travels of the owners. The kitchen has necessary cooking equipment, a self cleaning electric stove and basic cooking condiments.

The house is heated by a Vermont castings wood burning stove and there is plenty of fire wood. Electric heaters are available to supplement the wood stove while it heats up.

Great long weekend

We had a lovely stay at Robins Nest. This is a real house with lots of nice art on the walls and thoughtful furnishings, not a bare bones place. We appreciated Grace’s detailed instructions and trust. Recommended!

Excellent cottage in Inverness/Pt Reyes

My wife and I and our adult daughters had a wonderful stay at the charming Robin's Nest. Lovely, homey, well decorated cottage with beautiful garden and sauna to boot. The hosts were clear about the check in and check out process and the property details. Location is great, for access to Pt Reyes National Seashore as well as the quaint West Marin villages of Inverness and Pt Reyes Station. I hope to stay there again

Good vibes and weather

A big storm passed the day before we arrived. We had good communication with Grace who was very flexible to our needs. The place as always was a quiet and lovely place. Great steam bath too.

Robins Nest

Point Reyes area is such a treasure and Robins Nest did not disappoint. Such a wonderful old (but cared for) property! I spite of a minor check in snafu ( which Grace effectively assisted with) we were very comfortable. The rooms, gardens, sauna amazing!!! Perhaps a better coffee maker?? But otherwise highly recommended!! Thank you again!

Great spot for family retreat

The house is roomy and well arranged, lots of windows and natural light, stocked with everything you need for the kitchen including spices, olive oil and vinegar, paper towels, aluminum foil, steamers and colanders, toaster oven and microwave! Stays cool on hot days and has lots of outdoor spaces for sitting and talking, as well. There is no road noise or air traffic, so being outside was a pleasure. The cottage is delightful, just a bedroom and bath, but perfect for those in your party that would enjoy a separate spot. The steam bath shower and sauna are a real plus, and the location is central to all the Pt Reyes destinations and close to town for shopping! We bought local fish and made dinners, and local bakery goods and fruit for breakfast and lunch, and it was a wonderful stay. Doesn't have central heating, uses a wood stove for cold days, but the electric heaters worked perfectly well for cool nights and mornings. I

Great stay!

Our stay at the Point Reyes station was very enjoyable. The house is charming, well-stocked with pots, pans, dishes etc. The decor is lovely and probably reflects the owners travels. The view from the front porch and patio (and garden!) is very nice. Only one slight negative is that the smaller bedroom has a narrow shower. While it was not a problem for our friends who were in that room, a larger sized guest could have an issue.Otherwise, we wished we were staying longer!

Fall preview

The place was immaculate for this group of guys. Apples are abundant on the grounds now, needed a little more time to put applesauce on the menu.

Blooming flowers, friends, and sun

The stay was enhanced by the blooming flowers, friendly kitchen dining and tasteful art through out. The open doors in the dining area allowed sunny skies to shine inside and out.

Charming but dangerous

You can see by the photo that the property is on several levels - at least 5 or 6 of them. The wooden steps are all painted the same color, so some of the levels going down are particularly difficult to see and prepare for. Our stay would have been lovely, but both my husband and I tripped on one of those level changes. It I have been unable to walk normally for the last 9 days, and am still in considerable pain. The owner wanted to be helpful, but she was out of town. She did give me a refund for one day's stay, but refused to recognize that they had a risky situation that needed remediation. I hope she changes her mind.

Hiking getaway with friends

From the first moment we entered Robin's Nest, we realized it was a special place. Beautiful gardens and fruit trees outside and inside, the house is cozy, decoratively appointed and colorful. Lots of sitting, well appointed kitchen and very comfortable beds. Quiet house in a beautiful setting.

Dreamy spot for a weekend getaway

I stayed at the Robin’s nest with my husband, toddler, and good friend, and we all had an incredible time. The grownups enjoyed the art, gorgeous views, and the steam shower, while we all enjoyed birdwatching and the beautiful garden. Lovely house, lovely location, I hope to come back!

Perfect home in Point Reyes

An older but lovely home, with big windows overlooking a beautiful garden. Clean and nicely decorated. Bathrooms have been remodeled. Gets a bit warm on a hot day, but opening the windows brings in a cool breeze. Overall we had a great time, we would like to come in the winter too, to enjoy the wood stove. We had a perfect 4th of July getaway.

A little bit of Inverness Heaven

A short drive past the Red Barn Visitors Center lies Inverness park where sits Robbin's Nest. The fence and gate hide the garden treasure behind its walls. The house is comfortable, though a little musty at first but that soon dissipated with all the double doors open. The kitchen met all our needs as did the rest of the house. Our only issues were with the departure instructions which we found to be a little confusing and the skylight blinds in the living room, otherwise it was all we could hope for.

such a sweet retreat

Robin's Nest is beautifully situated, furnished, and appointed, We felt like we were staying in the home of a friend with great taste. Having each bedroom with its own bath worked well with 2 couples. Evenings by the wood burning stove was cozy, the sauna divine, and we headed out the door to hike in stunning spots within 20 minutes.

Perfect escape to natural beauty yet easy to reach from SFO

This cottage is easy to reach yet feels like a true getaway to a beautiful site with lots of hikes. We spent a Thanksgiving weekend exploring the natural parks (state and national) while making a wonderful meal, with ingredients supplied by excellent local shops, in a beautifully appointed and super comfortable country cottage.
