loon time relaxation

Great stay. Cabin was bigger than we first thought. Games in lower level for evenings and rainy days. Tv's if needed, good wifi, mostly quiet lake (noisy on weekends). Close to water and easy access. Didn't use kayaks, but 2 available. Paddle boat was nice and worked well. Loon calls off the lake were amazing. A wonderful North woods stay.

Peaceful breath of fresh air

Wonderful well loved property. Evident historic family memories of love, laughter and joy felt throughout the cabin. A Peaceful picturesque view from the cabin and large deck. Ideal for paddle boarding through the lily pad channel, wading on the sandy shore, slow pontoon rides around the lake and to the Dam, and Plentiful fishing right off the dock. A variety of wildlife; various birds, deer, eagles, raccoons, and even a black bear! Many memories created. Perfect place to relax and reflect.

Great Vacation Rental

I’m reviewing this as a senior citizen in her mid 80’s: Rental was very well stocked: Kitchen - pots/pans, appliances, spices, coffee, etc.; bathroom - good supply of fluffy towels; and beds were super comfortabe. There was a large deck and the dock was very sturdy with a bench on the end for getting some sun or casting for fish. I enjoyed sitting in the large overstuffed chair with my feet up on a footstool having my coffee with an unobstructed view of the lake. Personally, I would have liked a higher toilet and a tub/shower with grab bars in the upstairs bathroom but there was a higher stool & a very nice walk-in shower in the downstairs bathroom. We really enjoyed our stay at this rental on Minerva Lake.

August retreat

Property was spacious and clean. The games in the lower level were great for the kids when it was raining or during the evening, Sand bottom was fun for the kids to enjoy and they could walk through the cattails and lily pads! Not many places that offer two televisions. There was plenty of hot water and wonderful bath towels (however there were only two washclothes for each batjhroom), We all enjoyed the very spacious deck throughout the day starting with morning coffee. Highly recommend this as a quiet place to relax.

September Yearly Fishing Trip

This was our 2nd time staying here, and we all enjoyed our visit. The Cottage was just as amazing as the first time we stayed. Clean, plenty of room for the 4 of us who was staying. We had a fire one evening in the fire pit and we fixed our supper over the open fire. The Fishing on the lake was excellent. Already looking foward on next visit. The host comunicated when we arrived and during the week wit friendly trash reminders.

Wonderful Getaway - Highly Recommend

My husband and I stayed at this property. It was so beautiful and I highly recommend staying here! The check in process was very easy. The cabin was clean and tidy. It was great to have use of the kayaks and paddle boat. Going kayaking at sunset was my favorite and having campfires down by the lake at night time. The lake has clear water and the property has a nice sandy bottom shallow swimming area which was also my favorite! My family lives on that same lake chain so I know the area well. There are fun things to do like renting an atv, going river tubing, and checking out local shops, and there are really good restaurants close by! Again, I highly recommend this VRBO place if you are looking for a true north Wisconsin getaway. It was a dream come true!

Nice Week up North

The kind of place that's what you hope for when you get a cabin on a Northern WI lake. The lakefront was nice, a good dock and sandy entry to the water, good fish habitat, kayaks were fun, the place was well-stocked, clean, and the beds were comfy. Liked the foosball table. Pics were true. Communication with owners was always timely. Would recommend this place for sure.

Great Northwoods Getaway

Our whole group was impressed with the size of the home and how much space there was to spread out. We enjoyed wonderful weather which provided us the opportunity to utilize the on-site kayaks and paddle boat. We discovered several things that we forgot, but being close to Danbury allowed us to get needed supplies. We even were able to take pictures of deer that wandered the property one evening as they were out for their "dinner". Great facility and hosts, would definitely recommend this to everyone.

About the host

Host profile image
We want to give you a little history of our beautiful place. In 1984 our parents, Ken and Kathleen Andersen, purchased the land with a small old trailer and a garage sitting on the property. In 1985 they had the trailer removed and began construction of the current home. The framework was completed by a contractor and the masonry was completed by Kathleen’s uncle, Wally Stehr. The rest of the work was entirely completed by our dad Ken and he put the finishing touches on in about 1991. In 1993 they retired at age 59 and moved from St. Paul to this lovely home and lived year round in Danbury permanently. They enjoyed many years of fishing, snowmobiling, golfing, church events, family gatherings, boating, crossword puzzles, sleep overs with grandchildren, gardening, reading and many others. Unfortunately in March of 2007 Kathleen passed away, just six months shy of their 50th wedding anniversary. Ken stayed here and enjoyed ten more years without his bride until his passing in 2017.
We want to also give you a little history on the life of Ken and Kathleen prior to all this. They met at Humboldt high school in St. Paul. In 1953 Ken signed on as a left handed pitcher for the New York Giants minor league team while Kathleen was attending nursing school at St. Kate’s. In 1957 they were married. The details of all Ken’s baseball adventures are in the pages of a book at the cabin.
Ken and Kathleen had five children. Steve, Sheila, Sarah, Mark and Monica. After Ken’s passing Mark and Monica and our families decided to own the cabin together and keep the property in the family. Thus creating KandK Properties in honor of our parents whom we deeply loved and are forever grateful for allowing us the opportunity to enjoy Danbury as we hope you will. In order to do this we rent it out part of the time. Please take gentle care of our cabin and have a wonderful stay here!
Sincerely,
Mark and Michelle Andersen
