Do you enjoy wide open spaces, starry nights, swimming, kayaking and fishing? Look no further, we have it all! Come enjoy the stillness of rural country life. Our cozy cottage offers a birds eye view of Half Moon Lake where the loon call is enchanting & relaxation with family and friends is perfection! The surrounding communities are a blend of lush countryside , lakes, parks, & small town charm. The house is surrounded by farm fields, quiet country roads and mother nature!

The house has 2 Queen beds, 1 full bed, 1 full bathroom and one half bathroom. The house has 2 living areas - both with TVs and DVD players. You'll find an electric fireplace in the downstairs living area. Full kitchen with dining area. Outdoor seating. Firepit (ask us about wood availability) - S'mores supplies included! We have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Summer & Fall:
Activities: Fishing, water sports, swimming, hunting, hiking, biking, campfires, etc!
Included with your stay is the user-friendly kayak cart (on wheels) to pull 2 kayaks down to the beach. You can put the kayaks in at the sandy beach and away you go to explore the day away! Be sure to find and explore Tamarack Bay - a family favorite. No need to be an expert kayaker - it is easy for beginners too! Kayaks can be used anytime between April and October.

The house is about 2 easy blocks from Half Moon Beach / Lake - just a walk down the paved road! There is a sandy beach - very few weeds and the lake is great for swimming! Also at the beach is a swing set, picnic shelter, charcoal BBQ grill, fishing dock and boat launch. It is a quiet beach - lots of room to spread out and de-stress.

Winter:
Activities: Fishing, snowmobiling, hiking, campfires, etc!

Half Moon Lake (and Balsam lake just a few minutes away) is perfect for ice fishing!

Bring your outdoor recreational toys for any season! Lots of fun to be had.

We are located in rural Balsam Lake, Wisconsin. Within minutes, there is a variety of entertainment options, restaurants, coffee shops, and antique shops. We are near Milltown, WI; Taylors Falls, WI and St. Croix Falls, WI.

This rental is perfect for any type of group - friends retreat, couples getaway, family time, contractors, crafters, fishermen, hunters, boaters, etc!

A quiet, cozy house.

We enjoyed our stay at this cute farmhouse, which reminded me of our childhood living in northern Wisconsin. The house was clean, and had everything we needed for this get together. We watched deer, visited local wineries, played games, made a trip to Stillwater, and still had down time to talk and catch up on each other's lives.

Little yellow house

We enjoyed our stay over the weekend. The host (Brenda) was very sweet and showed us around. This house is very kid friendly with lots of games and puzzles. We will definitely be coming back to rent the little yellow house.

Cute, clean little farmhouse

This place has pretty much everything's you need for a little get away. Easy access to a lake for kayaking and a little park nearby. It’s 20 minutes to St Croix falls if you want to do some hiking. Comfortable beds with plenty of blankets and fans in each room. Highly recommend!

Little Yellow House

We love staying at the “little yellow house” when we come to Balsam Lake for an annual family reunion. The accommodations are perfect for our needs and the personal, homey touches are greatly appreciated.

Relaxing spacious accommodations

This is a beautiful home to rent while staying in the balsam Lake area. My friends and I love this home. We each have our own space for sleeping and the accommodations are spotless. The kitchen area is well stocked with what you would need to prepare meals and again it is spacious for groups of people. The outside yard is beautiful with an Eagles nest in the front Evergreen tree up top. We were able to watch the Eagles flying in and out and then observing us as we’re standing on the sidewalk looking up. Half moon lake is a beautiful small leg. There’s easy access to either unload a boat or take your toys down to the lake. I highly recommend this property if you want a relaxing comfortable stay while you are enjoying time off.

Balsam Lake Winterfest Getaway

Sisters weekend

The little yellow house

This is our second stay at the little yellow house as my granddaughter calls it and we again found it perfect for our needs. Lots of little homey touches and the perfect location close to my sister’s lake home for our family reunion.

Country getaway

This is a very adequate property to relax and enjoy the privacy and countryside. This was our groups second visit. This home has room to relax and enjoy a laid back stay. Three bedrooms are very comfortable and cozy. We enjoy the campfire, barbecue, patio and country walks. A good sized kitchen with everything you need. Enjoy the surrounding wildlife including the Bald Eagles nesting. This Memorial Day weekend was perfect with the daily sunshine!!!!

Perfect Sister Retreat

This cottage was absolutely perfect for a sister retreat. The cottage is charming with nice touches throughout. The owners have thought of everything to make their guests feel at home during their stay. The rural area here is so peaceful. We watched fall color coming to the trees, deer passing through the yard, and lovely walks to Half Moon Lake. We enjoyed exploring the small towns nearby as well as Interstate State Park, Apple River County Park and Crex Meadows Wildlife Refuge. We're definitely planning to come back to this cottage.

Cozy and peaceful

We loved staying at the Pines! We wish we could have stayed longer. Everything is provided, Brenda is a most attentive, helpful host, it's spacious and also cozy, and (at.least mid-week after Labor Day) so quiet and peaceful! We loved having the kayaks to paddle around the lake, and the well-equipped kitchen.

Wonderful!

Such a cute little place! The house itself is rather old but you can tell the owners have taken great care to make sure that you have everything you need during your stay! It feels so homey and was perfect for our family! The kids loved the kayaks/beach, trees and outdoor area, s’mores and the toys/games at the house. Thank you for such an accommodating stay!

Half Moon Lake Property

Very clean, spacious and comforfortable house. Well stocked kitchen, including storage bags & paper products. Having a beach & boat launch 1 block away is convenient. Having the kayaks on a cart with paddles & life vests was really nice. Returning to A/C after playing in the heat & sun, was very nice too!

Lovely home in the country

This is a very clean property that is full of personal touches for your comfort. This home Is well stocked with every and anything you need. Lovely interior and restful surroundings. Our first evening had volumes of deer and their young babies all over in the fields. I have never seen so many in a day. The next morning we saw a black cub bear running across the field! Beautiful flower gardens, open space, beautiful view of Half Moon lake, campfire to relax and enjoy. This home is designed for guest to unwind and enjoy. Thank You
