About this property

Valley View Cabin at Brazos House Retreat

Quiet secluded cabin, on top of a hill, with view of Brazos River Valley. (Note, road leading to this cabin is steep and unpaved, so it might be daunting to guests not accustomed to country living.) Our home is at top of the hill and we have driven this road for 22 years - without 4-wheel drive. *

Located on 38 acres with Brazos river access. There is a riverside patio and fishing deck just a quick car ride down the hill. When the river is low, there is also access to a nice beach great for children to play in shallow water, and hunting for fossils and arrowheads.

Two queen bedrooms plus a sofa with linens provided for extra sleeping for a child or teen. All towels and linens provided. Children and pets welcome.

Fully furnished kitchen - all you'll need to bring is your food.
Direct TV, Wifi, propane grill, washer/dryer.

Just 10 minutes from historic Glen Rose, and 20 minutes from Dinosaur Valley State Park, Fossil Rim Wildlife Park and Dinosaur World.

Peaceful

The cabin was so much more than we expected.I had a little trouble finding it but it was not due to poor directions. I just missed a turn. Kay Myers was my contact person and she quickly directed me to the cabin.

Great place to crash for a weekend trip to Dino valley.

Great place to crash for a weekend trip to Dino valley. Yes the water system is pretty smelly and could use an upgrade, but great little place for up to a family of 4 to crash.

We had a wonderful stay. We were able to bring our Aussiedoodle, Pepper, who is a member of the family. That is what sealed the deal for our stayed, and are we glad! The property is so beautiful, and peaceful, with fantastic views, and places to rest and relax. We highly reccomend Brazos House Retreat.

Cozy cabin in a quiet location

The cabin was clean and had everything we needed and it was fairly priced. We had a few surprises, but overall the stay was good. The couch was not the same couch that was in the photo, so it was a little smaller than we expected, but my teen slept fine on it. I didn’t realize another cabin was going to be right next to us so had we stayed on the property all day that might have been a little too close.

Weekend getaway

Reserved for a long weekend getaway and it was perfect! Location was easy to get to and only 15-20 minute drive from neighboring cities. Spent time at the Brazos River , drove to downtown Glen Rose for dinner at Blackies, visited Big Rocks and enjoyed evenings in a quiet countryside. Stan brought us fresh eggs and even drove us to see some exotic animals!

Quiet family getaway

Our family of 5 just stayed for the weekend. The cabin was perfect for us an everything was stocked for things we could possibly have needed. It’s too bad they don’t have more photos of the cabin(s) to really give you a visual of how good it is. It was spacious enough for us and was great that the extra bedroom had a bedrail to help keep our little ones from rolling off the bed. Things I wanted to add that I thought would help future guests: the river (late June when we went) was better to drive to then to hike. We didn’t spend much time down there because it was pretty stinky and didn’t feel like it was good water at all for our kids to play in due to possible amoeba dangers. Was pretty tho. The property has swings for the kids to play with but there is a cabin someone else owns behind with a swing and hammock so just let your kids know that that’s off limits as it belongs to someone else. It’s totally fine because there are several others for your kids to enjoy. They kindly have propane and firewood available which was really helpful and sweet. Also note that the water (which they do warn you about when there) does come from septic so it does smell. Our showers were kinda stinky but we understand the septic life. So just know that may be a thing. The road up is steep in parts with gravel road so a truck or larger vehicle is best, but a regular car should be just fine if you go slow. Overall a great stay and wasn’t too far from attractions

Very beautiful location and sweet owners!

My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay! It was so peaceful, none of us wanted to leave! If you do choose this beautiful cabin to stay, just watch for scorpions! I walked back into the bedroom just in time before a scorpion walked onto my toddlers foot while he was sleeping, then found 2 more throughout the house. Country living at its finest! We had a blast and can't wait to stay again.

Absolutely Wonderful!

This was our family’s second time camping here, and definitely not our last. It was perfect for our family of 4. Great fishing spot on site and animals to feed. The kids took advantage of the play set and trampolines, as well. Very peaceful and such beautiful scenery. This is by far our family’s favorite camping place! They had everything we needed in the cabin. Ms. Kay was very quick to answer any questions we had and even brought us fresh chicken eggs. We were sad to leave and can’t wait to go back!

A Nice Little Getaway Place

Loved the landscape with great privacy. The cabin had everything you needed for the stay. Great climate control both for cold and warm days. Stan was great and loved Bo the dog. Glen Rose was a friendly place with good places to eat. Caution most restaurants closed by 3:00 pm. The area definitely embraces that this was an area where dinosaurs walked. Hope to visit again. Thank you for having us.

Eclipse 2024

We had a great time at Kay and Stan’s place. We lucked out with great weather, spent lots of time on the front porch or the meadow across the driveway. Stan treated us to fresh eggs and Kay came by with Moon Pies the morning of the eclipse (😁). Well appointed, plenty of ways to keep cool. We’ll be back.

Perfect Getaway

We really enjoyed this property, it is really nice with stunning views. The cabin is really tiny, but comfortable enough. Unfortunately, I injured myself the week before our trip so we were not able to walk around or check out the river. We hope to go back again one day and hike around and enjoy some time on the river. The road up to the cabin was a bit of a challenge for my little Lexus sports car, it had to engage the traction control in a few places going up the hill. LOL. We probably should have brought our truck instead.
