Big Red a newly renovated 4 bedroom historic home in the heart of Grand Marais!
Your vacation will start off right in this beautifully renovated 1870’s historic home. It has a light and airy spacious feel throughout. Accents of the area will spark a desire to get out and explore all that Grand Marais has to offer. This home has one of the largest yards and indoor living areas. You are a short 1/2 block from the center of downtown and a 1 block walk to the bay and 2 blocks to Lake Superior. This home was just turned into a rental August 2018 so we’re very happy with our great reviews so far. We do change the feel between summer and winter seasons. There is ample parking for your trailers too. Welcome, your going to love your stay!

The house was extremely clean and well maintained. It was a short walk to the beach and restaurants and also a great central location if you want to explore the Seney Nal Wildlife Refuge and Pictured Rocks.
We had a great stay at the Big Red house. It was very clean and welcoming. We traveled with 3 young children and it’s a child friendly house with toys for them to play with and a big yard to run around. The location is perfect with only being a block from downtown and close to the beach. Highly recommend staying here!
This place was perfect for our long weekend stay. There’s plenty of things to do and see in the area. There’s even a brew pub right across the yard from the house so no driving is required. The house has been recently renovated and was extremely clean.
This was our first trip to Big Red. There was 5 of us and the accommodation's were absolutely spot on! Nice roomy house. Bedrooms decent size, beds had SLEEP Number mattresses...very nice! Kitchen big. living room big as well. Location perfect able to walk to all the bars/restaurants and store in town. Snow was great trails great too! Thank you, we will be back!!!
Really enjoyed being so close to everything in town! House is nicely updated and furnished. We enjoyed having the mudroom for our shoes, beach items, and riding gear. We also enjoyed having a dishwasher!
Big Red was immaculate. Rich has done an excellent job getting the home ready for renters. There was plenty of space for our family to stretch out. Also had a nice variety of spices in the kitchen. I highly recommend and look forward to future stays.
This was our second visit to Big Red. We've been coming to GM for 40+ years so we know the area well. Big Red has been great for us--perfect location in town, clean functional house that has met our needs without an issue and the owners are very responsive to questions. It's been a pleasure to stay here!
The Big Red house is ideal for any trip to GM, walk downtown, easy access to trails and the house is spacious enough for a group. Plenty of parking space for trucks and trailers
The house was very clean, roomy and nicely remodeled. Big kitchen and dining for cooking and eating together. The host was great and very helpful. Loved the location! If you want to stay in the area this house is a winner!
We had a great time in Grand Marais. We were able to walk to the local restaurant and bar and shops. Even though the snow wasn't the best we still had a great time.
We've been to GM many times since the 70's and have stayed in several rentals. Big Red was great--perfect location in town, great kitchen, sleep # beds, clean, spacious for 5 adults, Roku tv, easy and prompt communication with the owners. Highly recommended, and we would stay again.
Perfect location..one block from restaurants and the bay. It was great to have 2 nice bathrooms for all of us. Very clean with a great layout. Highly recommend
This is our second time staying in "Big Red". We felt so much at home the second we opened the door. My 89 yr old mother absolutely loves the house. She has the biggest bedroom and a bathroom that is handicapped accessible. She was in awe, again. The whole house has such a great atmosphere, we can't wait to book it for next year!! We love this place. Thank you for the greatest house....
Big Red was clean, comfortable, spacious, and well appointed. A great location with hospitable hosts in a hidden gem of a town. Day trips, walks to the beach and ice cream stand, and a place you’d like to call home, this is an ideal home and town. And, every bed is a sleep number bed giving you some of the best sleep you’ve had in a while.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Big Red in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Area. House is very clean and well appointed. Owners were very responsive and helpful. We highly recommend! Thank you!
This was our second time staying at this property. It's the perfect fit and very functional for our family. Things we especially enjoy during our stay: sectional in living space means plenty of room for whole family, sleep number beds and pillows are cozy, multiple tables (especially the newer bigger coffee table) for eating, crafting, puzzling, and games. We especially love being able to walk to the beach! Would love to come back again!
We loved our stay at Big Red. There were four adults and three children and the house accommodated us all. House is walking distance to the main strip of town. Next door is a ORV (UTV) rental that was awesome as well and we enjoyed trail riding as a family. Listing is correct that there is plenty of room for trailers if you have your own toys. House has a good kitchen, laundry, and big living area with games (board games and foosball). We would recommend staying here and would look to stay here again if we make it back to the area.
House has plenty of room to spread out. We Appreciated the extra special touches in the home. GM is my favorite place to be and this house fits all our needs. The owners are amazing to work with and own the ATV power sports shop next door for a day on the trails. Also try the Breakwall restaurant for a delicious breakfast We can’t wait for next year!
Perfect location right in town. Pictures do not do this house justice. Cutest house and tons of space! Hosts were great at responding with questions and check in/check out was so easy. We have stayed in multiple houses through Grand Marais and this is by far one of our absolute favorites. We will be back for sure! We had 3 trucks and trailers and all 3 fit with plenty of space.
Perfect location for our annual Snowmobile trip to Grand Marais. Snowmobile rentals right next door. Love the house. Plenty of room for the 6 of us, with everything we needed! Richard and Jennifer are great people. Always available and willing to help with anything we need. We will be back!
The pictures don't do this home justice.
This home has allot of character and was spacious, yet cozy.
Owners did a nice job of renovating a 100+ year old place.
Very clean home and easy to work with people.
We are already planning to come again!
