Wonderful Week!

I had a wonderful stay at Lisa's adorable, charming house with lovely gardens! A perfect setting for a quiet retreat week in Old Town with all the conveniences and within walking distance to the downtown area. The fountain in the garden area made for a delightful, relaxing setting for breakfast, lunch or just sitting or reading on the patio. Lisa is a delightful host! I will be back! Kathleen

Perfect hostess, cottage, and location!

Old Town Fort Collins is a wonderful place to visit anyway, but add in Lisa's precious two rooms in a 1910 cottage and you have a recipe for a perfect stay. Garden gate, roses, sunny pergola, porch swing, french doors, luscious mattress and linens, clawfoot tub, pour over freshly ground coffee, a book dealer's curated shelves, tabby cat curled up on your lap, the list can go on and on...literally cottage magic! Guests can walk a few Mayberry-like blocks to shopping and dining in Old Town. I can't wait until I can return again in early summer when the flowers and trees are in bloom. Absolutely charming!

The charm is strong with this one

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lisa's quaint and homey cottage; the house was architecturally fascinating and surrounded by rambling gardens and whimsical statuary. A plethora of books were available in the cozy sitting room and the bed was one of the most comfortable we'd EVER slept in. Our only regret is that we didn't have much time to spend chatting with Lisa, as we found her one of the most interesting innkeepers we've ever met. I would love to come back and get to chat with her more! We would definitely recommend visitors to stay with her; the old town section is very quaint and visually rewarding, with wide streets and lots of piles of leaves to kick! Close to Old Town and to the relatives we were visiting. We would love to come back in the spring to see those gardens in full bloom!

An unplugged, charming, very comfortable place to stay

This was my first experience staying in Fort Collins and this little home is as inviting and charming as it looks. It’s easy to walk to shopping and restaurants and was so comfortable! It was so clean and I loved the animals. Lisa was a very professional and warm hostess.

I would recommend Mrs. Lisa to anyone.

This was one of the best experiences a way from home in a long time. It was a really quick trip for us but it was just right for everyone.

A hidden gem near Old Town

Lisa's home was a gem of a property! The whole yard is a garden with fresh flowers, a fountain, and tomato plants (yumm!). The rooms were cozy, the bed was SO comfortable, and Lisa was the most hospitable person I've met in a long time. She made me feel at home and went above and beyond sorting through solutions when there were WiFi problems, since I had to work while here. The coffee was delicious - and she recommended restaurants, coffee shops, trails, and more for me to do in the spare time I had. On top of that, she had a refurbished clawfoot tub in her 1910-built house. Need I say more? If you are in Fort Collins, stay with Lisa. A short walk is all it takes to get to Old Town, but the house is on a quiet, safe street. Can't wait to be back!

Beautiful Garden and Cottage!

We had such a wonderful stay here. Lisa was a great host and we enjoyed chatting with her. The home was cute and comfortable. Our favorite part however, was the amazing backyard garden! We could not believe how beautiful and lush it was. So happy we stayed in the summer and could enjoy it. We had a lovely morning drinking coffee by the water fountain.

Easy and welcoming

Lisa is so gracious, I felt like I have known her for years instead of a few days. Lovely, antiques add to the charm of her 1910 home. Beautiful flower gardens are so peaceful. Didnt want to leave!

Wonderful and friendly place to stay, beautiful yard/garden !

The ONLY thing that could have made it better would have been a private bath.

Cozy and Close to everything.

Lisa was fantastic and the space was gorgeous. We were 5-10 minutes from everything and, had it not been so cold, would have walked. Lisa was a fantastic host and really cared about making it a great stay. Can't wait to return when it's green outside and enjoy the gorgeous garden area at the home.

Beautiful and Cozy Place to Stay During Brief Trip to Fort Collins

This was my first time booking with VRBO and I found it to be a great experience. Lisa was a wonderful host. She made me feel very welcome and comfortable in her home. Her cat and dog were friendly and adorable, the bed and sofa were very comfy, and the coffee and tea in the kitchen were a nice touch. I would highly recommend staying with Lisa to anyone who is planning a trip to Fort Collins. I wouldn't change a thing- except that I wish I got to say bye before I left for the airport! Thank you for your hospitality, Lisa :)

Lisa keeps a spotless and inviting home.

We truly enjoyed our stay in Lisa's cottage. We had our own private entrance to the home, so we never felt like we were disturbing her when we'd get back late. Lisa is so friendly, kind, and considerate- every morning there would be mugs and coffee filters on the kitchen counter waiting for us. She's also a great conversationalist! There are animals in the home- an adorable little dog named Arlo and the sweetest kitty, Colette. It was always a treat to see either of them. The mattress in the bedroom is incredibly cozy- we slept great. Lisa really looks out for the comfort of her guests, providing a basket of slippers in various sizes and a space heater in each room. If I ever come back to Fort Collins, I know exactly where I'll be staying. Thanks Lisa for the wonderful lodging experience!

About the host

Hosted by Lisa D. Knudsen

Host profile image
I am 71 years old, retired from the book business for 10 years. I have lived in this house for 24 years and I count my lucky stars every day. The house was built in 1910 and I have done a lot to it over the years - new kitchen, new bathroom, red oak floors to match the original in several rooms, renovated the side porch into a sunroom, replaced the front porch. In the back of the house I have added French doors leading from the sitting room to a new patio, with fountain and pergola.

Why they chose this property

My house is in a wonderful neighborhood in Old Town Fort Collins. There are lots and lots of trees and my neighbors and I have a friendly competition with our flower gardens.
My son, who is now 28, attended Dunn Elementary, which is just three blocks away. I have loved watching the children on their way to and from school - first as babies in strollers accompanying their older brother or sister, then a few short years later on their scooters and then bicycles.

What makes this property unique

My house is a 10-minute walk from the shops and restaurants in the center of Old Town, and a 15-minute walk to the CSU campus. City-owned rental bikes are available, which you can pick up in one location and drop off in another are available just a few blocks away.
