My daughter (5) called this the adventure house. We loved the open concept our kids loved having room to play. Each morning we went on a walk around the grounds visiting the animals. We met the caretaker whom was very nice and knowledgeable in sharing info about the animals. Check in was easy, thank you Alice we’ll be sure to visit again.
Stayed for a wedding at the 1800 El Pomar venue and it was perfect distance away for all the weekend festivities. VRBO had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
We chose this ranch for trail rides. Maisy, the wrangler gal, was so kind and helpful with getting everyone tacked up and out on the trails through the vineyards.
We had a delightful stay surrounded by horses, cows, chickens, dogs, emu’s, and lovely views from the patio!
Property was very clean, simple and comfortable. My daughter loved looking at all of the animals. The location was very convenient to local restaurants and to the 101 for a day trip to slo and pasa robles
This is the second time we have stayed at the Z ranch. We love the location, the animals and the quiet. Great place to stay if you want to be near Paso Robles - but not in Paso Robles. We were so saddened to learn that the zebra had died unexpectedly during the recent crazy winter storms. Still lots of farm animals to observe and enjoy during your stay.
This was a quaint 2 bedroom on a working ranch with everything you need. Loved all the animals! Location close to town but tucked away on a peaceful property. Great weekend stay!
Great place. Beautiful scenery. Very clean and well appointed. The farm was wonderful to walk around with my two small children. The only knock is that it was quite warm and the small a/c unit was not quite up to speed to deal with the heat. Other than that, a fabulous retreat.
Our family was stopping in the Paso Robles area for two nights on our summer vacation tour of Cali. Though the Farmhouse is on the smaller side, we fit our family of 5 (3 teenagers) comfortably. The property is cozy and has all the things you need. My husband and I enjoyed our morning coffee on the deck overlooking the property. We got to see the cows and deer every morning. The kids roamed around the property catching glimpses of the zebra, goat, chickens. My only suggestion would be to add a comfortable chair or two in the living room with the tv. The couch was great but really only fits three. Otherwise, Alice was wonderful. I’s highly recommend Z Ranch and the Farmhouse. Super close to the wineries, the water park, Tin City.
We really enjoyed our stay. The check in was easy and the people on the property that we met, Eddie and James were so nice and told us a little history. We will be back for sure. My daughter and her husband had a wedding to attend and it was only 7 min away and I stayed back to watch my granddaughter. The beds were comfy and we really enjoyed seeing all the animals everyday! Thanks again Alice!
Comfortable. Clean. Fully equipped kitchen. My favorite feature….Peaceful Nature Sounds…birds, cows, roosters. It’s only a short drive to the restaurants and stores in Paso Robles.
Very clean property. Comfortable for our family of 4. Beautiful ranch location that feels country/rural, but is conveniently located less than 10 minutes from downtown Templeton. Simple check in process and easy to find. Would stay here again for sure!
We totally enjoyed our stay at Z Ranch and plan on returning in the fall. The house was immaculate and very comfortable. It was just what we needed after a busy week touring Colleges in Southern California. Both the gentlemen, Ed and James. who we had contact with were great! Ed, let my youngest daughter bottle feed a baby calf and feed the horses their alfalfa. We really had a wonderful time!
We had a fabulous time on the ranch. My kids enjoyed walking on the property and looking at all of the animals. My sons loved the chickens! We will definitely visit again!
We enjoyed the ranch, especially being able to see the cows, the alpaca, and the zebra. The setting is beautiful. It’s a good location between the Bay Area and LA. The instruction booklet did not give information about how to interact with the animals. We later found out zebra can be dangerous with people if you’re not careful. The dogs outside barked intermittently day and night. The heater inside was so loud that we turned it off at night. The kitchen was minimally stocked with supplies. If you come prepared with all you need, this can be a nice stopover.
My kids loved seeing the farm animals! The ranch is really close to the cute town of Templeton and not far from Paso.
The house itself was literally the cleanest vacation rental we have every stayed at.
Very unique property since it's a working farm with alpacas, chickens, ducks, horses, a goat, cows, and a zebra. The house was super cute and clean but the real charm was getting to feed the animals with James, who lives near the rental house. He was gracious and patient and full of good stories. Our children were sad to leave!
It was an amazing experience to explore the grounds of a working ranch and be able to get up close to the animals. We enjoyed sitting on the outdoor deck and be next to the horses and vineyards. We will be back!!
The Z Ranch farmhouse feels far away from it all, but is actually pretty close to grocery stores and restaurants. The space is very clean, and has sweet extras like snacks and nice toiletries. My daughter absolutely LOVED feeding the animals in the morning, and James was so kind in leading that experience. We enjoyed our time at Z ranch, and felt like it was a very unique VRBO.
