My husband and I loved our stay here. The view is incredible. I loved waking up to the mountains each morning. The place is incredibly clean and we had everything we needed! The hot tub was perfect for winding down each night. We'll be back for sure!
We enjoyed staying at this property. Even though no kitchen, we utilized the owners grill and our crock pot. Dorm fridge fit what we needed too. Beds were very comfortable. Linens clean and fresh smelling. Towels are hotel thick and fresh smell. Hot tub was a hit! Roasted marshmallows at the fire pit. We missed our dogs so we enjoyed petting owners well behaved animals. Owner was quick to respond to our questions previsit and during our stay. Very attentive to making our stay pleasant. Drive is narrow and steep but our SUV did just fine climbing up and down. We heard owners footsteps upstairs but it did not bother us. We have stayed at similar rentals. We enjoyed playing miniatures golf, antique shopping, wheels of time museum, fishing, driving to neighbor towns to sitesee and shop.
Nestled in the hills high above the quaint town of Maggie Valley, and nearby to adventure and sights of the blue ridge mountains area, is Bette’s home. A beautiful home and lovely place. Everything is as advertised. We enjoyed our talks with Bette, who was both very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The jacuzzi was always enjoyable after a day of exploring, hiking and driving. All of the lodging, the area and Bette’s hospitality was great.
The view was amazing. The quest house was nicely decorated and clean (except for a couple spider webs). The bed was very comfortable. The hot tub was so relaxing especially looking at the view. Ziggy the cat is so friendly! The only downside is that the owners live on the main floors and sometimes they have hard footsteps noise. Woke us up a couple times. But we appreciated the stay.
We all enjoyed our stay. Clean and spacious. The most beautiful view of the mountains! Betty was great with communication and welcoming. We all loved her cat Ziggy.

The view was excellent. Property was wonderful. Hot tub so relaxing. Bette, the host, very nice and friendly. Planning to go back here each time we are in maggie valley.
My folks enjoyed the seclusion & gorgeous mountain views. Bette was a wealth of information regarding surrounding areas & attractions. My folks would surely return.
We had the most relaxing weekend! We couldn’t have asked for a better location, view, town, amenities. It was all great! Bette doesn’t sell anything short with this listing!
We enjoyed this wonderful home very much! Kept ourselves busy during the day with hiking and exploring and enjoyed relaxing evenings together at the property. Loved Waynesville and driving the parkway.
Bette was a great host that gave us our privacy but she always answered her phone if we needed her. The space was perfect with a gorgeous view, she has pretty much anything you’d need for a great getaway.
The view was stunning! The apartment was nice and the hot tub was a perk! Bed was comfortable, there was more noise coming from upstairs then I had expected/hoped for. The road to the driveway was hard to find at first but once we knew where it was we were good.
Incredible Mountain View! Home is very clean well take. Care of and a very mountainous experience.
Best home away from home to stay at. Incredible Mountain View, breathtaking views morning and night, owner is very friendly. Property is well maintained will return in winter ! A must stay
Really can't say enough good things about this property and Bette. Location was easy to find and the view from the property is epic. Bette has put a ton of thought into making sure you have everything you need for your stay.
The property is extremely clean and immaculately kept. Bette gave us great tips on where we could go and adventure around North Carolina!
We rented a slingshot for the week and were able to drive it up to the property with no problem!
We will miss waking up every morning to to beautiful view from the backyard and seeing her sweet cat and dog. We truly felt right at home!
Thank you Bette for making our stay great! We will definitely be back!!
Ski House is a cozy, comfortable Home-away-from-Home! Very clean apartment, well furnished with a comfy leather sectional couch & large flat-screen TV, very comfortable King-size bed, washer/dryer, frig/microwave/coffee maker, etc., as well as a fire pit, hot tub, grill, and outdoor chairs to compliment the spectacular view of the mountains!! Host Bette provided every commodity & necessity to provide for our comfort & convenience! A great 'home base' location for day trips to Waynesville, Sylva, Franklin, Asheville, Bryson City, Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky Mountains, etc. Can't WAIT to return!!
This was the perfect location for us. Spacious living room, everything was clean, lots of amenities provided. The location was absolutely amazing with a mesmerizing view of the mountains. The host was very helpful and communicative. She also has a cat and a dog which we dearly miss playing with!!
One thing to keep in mind is the approach road, I recommend driving something bigger than a mid-sized sedan as parts of the road is loose gravel with some incline. Our Honda Civic managed it fine (in June), but we were always nervous driving up/down from the house.
I surprised my husband with a much needed trip.
I wanted to visit some activities in the area but wanted quiet evenings. The picture perfect view was very clean and comfortable. The host was very responsive. Private entrance and very quiet.
We stayed 4 days in Bette's uniquely located cabin. Picture’s don’t do justice of the property, beautiful view right out the door, very clean, comfortable beds, and very well decorated.
Bette is very professional, accommodative, fridley and open minded. She ensures that your stay is comfortable and open for suggestions as well. We had a chance to meet her twins, dog and a cat.
I definitely recommend this place with out second thought and will book again with blink of eye.
The views are perfect, absolutely stunning. We stayed here with our children and enjoyed the fire pit and the hot tub every night with that wonderful view. The owner makes it very easy to stay here and has pretty much everything you need there. I’m very picky about cleanliness, and I felt very comfortable here. I was a little worried about the property not having a kitchen, but it was never an issue for us.
Location is fantastic! We enjoyed our stay in the mountains- the property is super cute and scenic. Lot of attention to detail had been paid inside. Wifi was a little bit choppy sometimes but overall we had a great visit and holiday!

About the host
Hosted by Bette
I teach science and math at a local middle school (online since March). Originally from Chicago but fell in love with the Great Smoky Mountains. My twin boys are in high school and enjoy soccer, golf, fishing and snowboarding.
Why they chose this property
I love the end of the road privacy with easy access to local attractions. We have that true mountain feel with no neighbors in sight! Hundreds of undeveloped acres of land surrounding the property keep it rich with wildlife and gorgeous views.
What makes this property unique
Just 5 miles to the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway for scenic drives and hiking opportunities in the Smokies. My family loves snowboarding and skiing at Cataloochee only 3 miles from the house. Lots of local restaurants and breweries in Maggie Valley, Waynesville (5 miles) and all that historic Asheville has to offer (30 miles). Cherokee is rich with tribal culture and the Harrah's Casino for dining, gambling and entertainment (15 miles).
