Fall asleep to the sound of waves crashing on the shore and wake to the sound of tropical birds. Watch the sun set from the lanai in season, or from Magic Sands Beach only blocks away. Enjoy a view of the foothills of Hualalai volcano from the kitchen and ocean peeks from the Living Areas & lanai that runs the length of the house. The bedrooms and living room all face west with large pocket doors that fully retract so the rooms spill out on the lanai. All doors are also equipped with sliding screens to keep bugs out in the evening. With a tree-house feel and open floor plan filled with natural light & offering breezy indoor/outdoor flow, this is an ideal property for those that want ample space to spread out and relax. The beautifully landscaped and fenced backyard has a lawn and includes an outdoor sauna, and gear rack with beach equipment.
LOCATION: The White Sands Estates is loved by locals because (1) you simply can't get any closer to Magic Sands beach, and (2) downtown is only a few miles away when you want to be there... but this area remains peacefully free of parking issues, noise & traffic. Homes in this neighborhood are close to other houses, so please be mindful of noise at night. Magic Sands Beach is 4 blocks from the front door. Kahalu’u Beach Park (less than a mile away) is a great spot for picnics, swimming & snorkeling. The park has a parking lot, bathrooms, bbq area, beach lifeguard and rinse area. Kahalu’u Bay Surf and Sea, our neighborhood rental center, offers surfing, stand-up-paddle boards, kayaks, snorkeling and other gear rentals ... pretty much everything you may want is conveniently located across from Kahalu'u Bay. When you are ready, a 5 mile drive along beautiful Alii Drive lands you smack in the middle of Downtown Kona's action.
FUNCTIONALITY OF THE HOUSE: This is an ideal property for couples or families. There are 2 bedrooms, 2 baths total. The queen-size pull-out couch in living room can also sleep 2 comfortably if needed. We provide snorkel gear, boogie boards, surfboard, and cooler.
TOP FLOOR LIVING AREA: Kitchen/Dining/Living -- All Open Flow -- connecting from the Front Porch straight through to the Rear Deck off the kitchen with a mountain view. The kitchen features granite counters and new electric induction stove, oven and microwave. The living room includes a 50" flat screen TV and comfortable couch. The flat screen TVs in the living room has Chromecast and connects to high-speed internet (300MBS) for various streaming options. Master and Guest Suites are also on this level.
MASTER SUITE: offers an incredibly comfortable Cal King, small built-in office desk w/ wifi enabled printer, walk-in closet, shower and two sinks. Tall ceilings with overhead fan help give it a pleasant, airy feeling. The master is also equipped with a 35" flat screen TV and Google Chrome for Netflix, etc.
GUEST SUITE: This room is ample size and has a comfortable murphy bed with overhead fans. The guest suite offers its own bathroom with a sink with marble vanity, bathtub and shower. Entry: The gated stairs from the driveway lead up 20 steps to the lanai and main entry doors.
GROUND LEVEL: stairs lead from the main floor down to a private laundry room (Because these stairs are wide and cannot be blocked off, our home may not be suitable for young children. We reserve the right to decline booking requests from guests with children between the ages of 1-5 or guests with fewer than 4 star reviews; please inquire for possible exceptions).
MORE DETAILS: High ceilings, fans and open-air cooling provides an eco-sensitive alternative to traditional AC (No Central Air... but a cross-breeze typically keeps the house a comfortable temp!). To air the house: 1. Turn on all the fans, 2. open all the sliding doors (and/or screens), and windows, 3. Open the balcony door to the kitchen to create a nice cross breeze (we typically leave all the doors open with the screens closed). 4. In addition, each room has a portable tower fan that can be positioned as needed.
Ditch your car keys and skip the parking hassles, traffic and noise of downtown -- you can easily walk/bike anywhere from here. Bike Share bikes are available right across the street from the beach at Magic Sands (The Hele-on-bus also stops at Magic Sands. Rideshare apps are under $10 for such a short distance.
We are walking distance to the beach and two blocks away from the Ironman course, but also have easy access to the upper highway when Ali'i Drive is busy.
Please Note: The home is situated in a neighborhood with working families, dogs, leaf blowers and other noises commonly associated with residential areas. This listing is for the main living area on the second floor only. At this time, guests do not have access to the garage or downstairs areas of the house. We have 4-night minimum stays on all weekends & holidays; unless there are not 4 consecutive nights available on the calendar... then we will book a 3 night minimum. Exceptions are sometimes made in summer -- please inquire. Mahalo!

Guests should ensure that activities taking place within this Short-Term Vacation Rental (STVR) conform to the character of the existing neighborhood.
(A) Quiet hours shall be from 9:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., during which time the noise from the STVR shall not unreasonably disturb adjacent neighbors.
(B) Sound that is audible beyond the property boundaries during non-quiet hours shall not be more excessive than would be otherwise associated with a residential area.
(C) Guest vehicles shall be parked in the driveway or designated onsite parking area.
(D) The STVR shall not be used for commercial purposes.
