If you came to Iceland to get away from it all, Eyrarbakki has the perfect balance. Our property is located in a small village on the seaside, close to Reykjavík and the Golden Circle, but a world away.

This Deluxe Two-Bedroom apartment has two bedrooms with a King size or two single beds, a spacious living room with dining area, sitting area with TV, and extra sleeping spaces with two sofa beds. There is a full kitchen in the apartment.

In the property are 16 guest apartments: 8 Deluxe Apartments with private decks, offering glimpses of the ocean, 8 Standard Apartments (no view, but recently renovated and comfortable inside) and our 36-bed hostel. Perfect Spot

We had a perfect stay here. The apartment was exactly as described. It was clean and comfortable and accommodated our party of 5 perfectly. The area is just off the beaten path in a quiet seaside town with a path by the ocean. It was great for our family. Communication with the host weeks prior to our arrival was not great. Once we were within a week of arrival, we received an email and telephone number. We needed to reach out in hopes of an early check-in, and folks were very kind, responsive and accommodating. The only recommendation that I can offer is to have fans available. The rooms can get quite warm, and cross ventilation is limited due to the structure of the building. Fans would be helpful for the warmer summer days.

Nice location but not worth the price

The apartment is on the small side. The bathroom was clean but the floor looked stained and the toilet like to flush constantly. We had to push and hold the button (many times) to get it to stop flushing constantly. The listing is a little misleading, you don't get to pick which apartment you want, so you might not be right on the water or even have an ocean view as promised. Even if you do get an ocean view, you can't get to the water's edge without crawling over a lot of large boulders. The restaurant that was recommended was not good, there were not a lot of options and the food was bland. On the plus side, we could see the aurora from the parking lot and we watched a beautiful sunrise over the water. I would not stay again, knowing that the price is way too high for the quality that we received. The address that was listed was incorrect, so we had to drive around town in the dark looking for the right place. Luckily the town is fairly small and there is a road along the "ocean view" houses.

Great apartment wonderful location

I just wish we could have stayed longer… the apartment was clean, spacious and the kitchen was well supplied. The host was pleasant and accommodating. We loved watching the sun “set” over the ocean. It took us just a little under an hour to get to the Blue Lagoon and was also easy to get to Selfoss.

Great Stay for Boys' Trip

My father, brother and I stayed at this property for one night during a boys' trip to Iceland in October 2021. Check in was easy, the property had tons of space (one room with two singles and one room with a king, I think) and was extremely clean. Proximity to the ocean made for great morning views. Would highly recommend this property to others.

Insgesamt ein super Aufenthalt und ein sehr gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Einzige negative Aspekte waren, dass die Schlafzimmer keine Tageslichtfenster hatten und dass die Unterkunft auf dem Foto etwas einsamer und idyllischer wirkt, als es tatsächlich der Fall ist. Dennoch waren wir insgesamt sehr zufrieden und können die Unterkunft weiterempfehlen.

Coastal location in a small fishing village

Loved the proximity to the water; we enjoyed walking along the coast in the evening and viewing the seabirds and surf. The town is small but has what you need (and Selfoss is not far away if you need a large grocery store). The apartment is very spacious and was perfect for the four of us.

Great Stay

really enjoyed our entire trip to Iceland. It was fun to stay in a few different locations. Eyrarbakki was a delightful quiet village right on the water. We even got to see a viking kitten romping on the shore rocks.

Fantastic accommodation!

Great value, and super spacious accommodation. Fantastic facilities including coffee maker (with coffee), salt, pepper and sugar which are nice touches. Fantastic location with Selfoss nearby with supermarkets/off license/petrol stations. Would definitely come back!

I'm Jessi, an American living in Iceland. Together with my husband Jóhann (who's Icelandic), we own and manage the local restaurant Red House (The Red House) as well as 16 guest apartments and a small hostel here in Eyrarbakki.

Our apartments are located in the old fish factory in the heart of the village, right on the seaside. This large building was abandoned for many years after the harbor closed and the fishing industry shut down. Piece by piece, we are turning it into apartments for guests. It's perhaps not your typical vacation rental, because the apartments are purpose-built as guest accommodation—but it's a tiny village and we would like to invite more visitors to come and stay without taking family homes off the market. A small part of the building has a 36-bed hostel, and that's where we will meet you with the keys.
