A-Frame Cabin Escape in George Washington Natl Forest, Lost River Area, WV

Nestled in the wooded hillsides of the George Washington National Forest, Santi’s Lost Stream provides a serene retreat from the stresses of urban life and is the perfect base to enjoy all the area has to offer from fishing, to hiking, to cycling, and more.

Completely renovated in 2018, this classic A-frame cabin offers two queen bedrooms and two full baths, as well as a spacious living/dining area, modern kitchen, cozy loft, and large deck perfect for taking in nature s sights and sounds.

The Space

Santi’s Lost Stream boasts a fully-equipped open plan kitchen and spacious living/dining area that leads out onto a large deck nestled among the treetops, perfect for morning coffee or sunset drinks.

The master bedroom features a queen bed and large picture window with forest views, as well as an ensuite bathroom with walk-in rain shower and heated floors. The separate guest bedroom also offers a queen bed and hand-made shelving unit that provides generous storage space for all your getaway garb. The loft snug is the perfect place to cuddle up with a book, play a game, or watch a movie. There also is a large desk for those who may need to do a bit of woek while here.

While Santi’s Lost Stream is a the perfect place to fully unplug and unwind, we understand the pressures of modern day and the need to stay connected may not allow you to do so, so we’ve wired the cabin with fiber optic high-speed internet and wi-fi access, as well as a large screen LG smart TV with access to Netflix, Hulu, and more, ideal for cozying up on the comfy sofa to catch your favorite movie, sporting event, or television series.

The cabin sits on 5 acres of wooded hillside grounds frequented by all forms of wildlife. It’s not uncommon to wake up to deer peering through the bedroom window or enjoying a midday snack among the lush greenery.

While we visit Santi s Lost Stream whenever our schedule allows, the cabin will be all yours during your time there.

Interaction with Guests

We’re always available by phone, text, or email. We also have a local property manager who can address any issues that may arise.

Other Things to Note

The premise is equipped with two exterior Nest cameras: one on the deck facing the drive up to the cabin and the other above the front door facing the forest. Cameras are used for security purposes ONLY when the property is vacant.

Super cozy cabin stay

We found the cabin to have all the comforts of home while nestled quietly in the national forest and its snow covered beauty! We enjoyed visits from a screech owl in the evening and watching the deers’ daily foraging through the woods. Grateful.

The cabin was amazing, from the peace to the views, everything was wonderful. It was well equipped with everything you need for a worry free stay. However, it could have been cleaner. There were what it seem to be old blood stains in the master bedroom bed and the floors needed a good sweep, other than that, everything else was excellent. Loved having a washing and drying machine because we left with all our laundry cleaned. We cooked and baked everyday thanks to the kitchen having ever we needed. Perfect Getaway

We had a snafu checking in, but the host responded right away and made us whole. This space allows both intimacy and privacy for couples. I recommend arriving before dark if possible, because the turns are easy to miss. We picked up some food In Wardensville, but next time we’ll check out Lost City. From the cool tiles in the bathrooms and kitchens, to the warm lighting in the loft, every square inch of Santi’s Lost Stream is beautiful. The forest and dry air make this a perfect way to beat the summer heat.

What a nice comfortable cabin with a wonderful view. Accommodations were perfect, very clean. We enjoyed many of the area hikes and a great dinner at the Guest House. You will not be disappointed.

Absolutely gorgeous

Cabin was amazing. Beautiful. Very clean. Knocked a star off only because the description says there was a queen bed in the loft area when there was not. Other than that, I loved it here and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Luxury Cabin in the Woods

We had a wonderful stay at Santis Cabin. Everything was as described and the cabin was even better in person. This trip was a getaway for my husband and I - it did not disappoint! It was close to many hiking trails and the area is beautiful. The cabin provided everything we needed on the day we stayed in and played games all day. The owners have done a FABULOUS job of upgrading and renovating - the inside feels homey and cozy - we didn’t want to leave! The owners were also great with communication - they were only a quick text away if we were to need anything. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to all our friends and family.

Beautiful Cabin

This is a beautiful cabin. The A-frame windows, high end details, and furnishings make the small space seem large. It is a perfect size for a few people. The kitchen includes so many basics and the property has everything you could need. We enjoying staying mostly in the cabin relaxing, playing games, and reading. Would definitely stay again.

A tranquil retreat!

Santi's cabin was wonderful! It was clean, comfortable, and outfitted with everything we needed for a relaxing week in the woods. We enjoyed spending time on the deck listening to the birds, watching the butterflies, and getting visits from our "deer" friends! There were great hiking trails all around, including Big Schloss and Tibbet Knob. Wolf Gap and Trout Pond Recreation Areas had plenty of parking, with access to trails and activities of all kinds. We recommend stocking up on supplies and food before arriving, as choices for shopping in the immediate area are limited, and the cabin has plenty of storage and a large fridge. Our stay at Santi's was blissfully quiet and peaceful-a very cozy getaway. We highly recommend it!

Immaculately clean and equipped cabin

This cabin exceeded our expectations! Booking was a snap, communication with the owners over some logistics was seamless and prompt, check in was simple and our stay was terrific. It is by far the best equipped cabin we've stayed in, with kitchen glassware, dishes, utensils, cooking implements, and even spices. And to top it all off, it was superbly cleaned. We found the absence of a dishwasher just fine, but note that feature in case it is a necessity (but really, it IS a cabin in the middle of a forest!) We hope to get back very soon!

Buckeye Adventures is made up of JP, Matt, Cynthia, and Lisa -- long-time friends and (mostly) natives of Ohio, the Buckeye state (and inspiration for the name of our little partnership).

We took our friendship to a new level when we decided to purchase and renovate this hidden gem of a cabin in the heart of West Virginia's George Washington National Forest. We've kept its original name -- Santi's Lost Stream -- as a nod to Santi, the man who built this classic little A-frame. While the gentle stream that runs through the foot of the property is "lost" through some of the year, it can be found during rainy season when the natural spring source decides to flow.

JP and Cynthia live just a few hours drive away in Washington, DC, while Matt, Lisa, and their three boys are a bit further afar in Chicago. When we are not enjoying Santi's Lost Stream and all the Lost River area has to offer, we open up our lovely cabin for guests.
