About this property

Private Coveside Island Cabin for solo visitor

Privacy, magic, loon calls and your own beach. Wake to a sparkling sun on the water, sleep to a glittering Milky Way above!

An amazing, island hideaway, my 3-room cottage is situated on a wooded 5-acre bluff overlooking Bounty Cove. Perfect for a solo traveler, it features a private wraparound deck, open-plan living/dining room, and a gorgeous, new custom kitchen. The bedroom has a single bed and a wall of windows looking out to the woods and water beyond. A double pull-out Sealy sofa bed in living room.

Eco-friendly, there is a small bathroom with hot/cold sink and a brand new odorless, electric composting toilet. The hot water shower is on the deck, where only the eagles and seagulls can see you.

The cabin is fully equipped with all linens, cookware and excellent spices and provisions. Dine in or on the deckside table with tin lights strung through the trees.

A lovely Pottery Barn sofa can pull out to a full bed, although the cabin is best suited for 1 person and NOT good for young children.

Islesboro island is a 20 minute boat ride by a Maine State Car Ferry that leaves from Lincolnville Beach hourly from 8-5. Tickets are roughly $30 r/t for car & driver and $12 for passenger.

This is a quiet escape and there is another house on the property that is not visible from The Rookery. Please share driveway and parking respectfully. There is a kayak friendly beach on property accessible from the road — if you bring your own kayak.

Minimum 6 nights and maximum 2-week rental during peak season, August.

A true "getaway to nature"

Bucolic, quiet, secluded, and peaceful. Step off the ferry and step into the 30's or 40's of a quiet rural village. Don't expect nightlife, restaurants, or a downtown stroll. But if you want to dial it down amid nature, endless ocean side views, kayaking, and hiking experiences, this cozy cottage for a couple (not big enough for more) and Isleboro is perfect - but don't tell anyone, we want it to be kept a secret gem!

The Rookery is Heavenly

Our stay at the Rookery was wonderful. The property is beautiful and the house beautifully appointed. The newly installed kitchen was a real pleasure and well stocked with pantry items as well dishware/pots/pans. The outdoor shower was very enjoyable with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The self composting toilet worked as promised with NO odor. My wife and I had a very relaxing stay in this secluded location and enjoyed kayaking daily from the property's nearby beach. We can't wait to return. Out host, Selby, was very attentive and easy to communicate with.

Isleboro getaway

We had a great time on Islesboro. Selby left a lot of thoughtful touches like a welcome basket and cream in the fridge. The cabin is comfortable and lovely and exactly as advertised! Thanks for letting us know about the town beach and the swing up the road. The kitchen is super well stocked and pleasant to use. Highly recommend this for a couple's get away!

I'm a writer and an island lover! Conversant in French, and happy to share my island nest for short stays for other nature-loving types.

What makes this property unique

Total privacy at the Rookery. You are part of the woods, yet close to a gorgeous cove. Watch the sunrise from a wraparound deck or dine under the stars. Broadband, so it's easy to work. The cabin has had major renovations in 2021 that make it elegant, efficient and easy to configure around your needs. A fountain on the deck with hydroponic herb garden!
