What A Gem!

The Lince cabin was in the perfect location for our family and friends getaway, so close to the snow parks. It allowed for everyone in our group to sleep comfortably and enjoy cooking together in the great kitchen, eating together in the comfortable dining area and hanging out in front of the cozy fire place. It was everything we had hoped it would be, and would love to stay there again.

Decent value for the price

There wasn't a kitchen item you could add. The furnishings really need updating. There was on chair and a 3/4 person couch in the main living area. Two people sank together on one end. Tons of dvd movies with a vhs player hooked to tv? Beds were aweful. The one queen suite had a very lumpy matress. Other queens were combo box spring and mattress like you would find on on a daybed. You could feel the springs.Fireplace worked well, but a small hatchet to split knindling would help.Amount of space, location and ammenities made it an acceptable value for the price.

Perfect place to enjoy Bear Valley and Giant trees

We loved our stay in this cabin! The house was bigger than expected with great area for kids to play/ read. Tons of movies on DVD including kids-friendly. Super easy check-in process and amazing communication with the owner. We loved how close it was to the Calaveras Big Trees park, snow parks, and Bear Valley skiing. Heating system and fireplace made our nights so nice and cozy. Thank you Carole for letting us stay in your beautiful house!

Fun cabin!

We had the best family vacation at the Lince cabin. The cabin is spacious and able to sleep many without sacrificing privacy. We had fun playing pool and games at night. Perfect short walking trail behind the cabkn. Very quite neighborhood. Kitchen had all of the cooking utensils, pots and pans you could need. We had a blast and would love to go back :) Bonnie

Beautiful cabin tucked away in the woods

We really enjoyed staying in this cabin and found there to be more than enough space for us. The cabin was a nice distance from the road and felt a little more private and tucked away than most but was still very convenient getting into town. There was a king bed in the master downstairs, and upstairs had one bedroom with two queens and another bedroom with two queens and a twin bed. There was also a day bed in the loft with a pool table and dart board (although we couldn't fine where the darts were). The kitchen was very well-equipped and had everything we needed. We took a small hike to a cute little creek using a trail that we found behind the cabin and even spotted some deer. The only thing that would make this property better is if it had a hot tub! Would love to stay here again next time we are in the area!

Rustic Cabin

Overall we had a pleasant stay at this cabin. There were 3 adults and two kids, 10 and 7, in our party. We were quite comfortable and the house was nicely set up for children. Finding the property was challenging. Owner might consider putting some kind of bright sign or landmark at the turn onto a dirt road since you can not see the cabin from the street. There is no neighborhood stream or lake. It was extremely hot when we stayed. Owner might want to list good swimming areas nearby. She suggested White Pine Lake. Since we had young children with us and needed shallow water with no current, we wound up going to Stanislaus River Campground (turn off between Bear Valley and Lake Alpine) one day and Beaver Creek in Big Trees State Park the next. Both areas are shallow, rocky creeks with lots of shade for the adults. There were a number of maintenance issues to be addressed: Broken porch rail from winter snow damage, garbage enclosure damaged by bears, slow drain in upstairs tub, sticky lock in front door, funky screens, front windows that had to be propped open and would have functioned as guillotines if our grandchildren had less horse sense (Again it was extraordinarily hot. Ordinarily, one would not have needed to open them.) The cabin is well supplied with functioning washer and dryer. Lots of hot water. Good WIFI, lots of VCR's and DVD's for family. For winter, I noticed there was an abundance of heavy quilts for the beds. Overall, we were pleased. I challenge you to count the number of bears (inside the house).

Could improve on overall cleanness of the cabin.

Cabin itself was nice but we found many spots that were not clear. We had kids with us and had to do extra cleaning just to take care of the kids. Spider webs in every corner of the cabin. Im just giving my honesy feedback about my stay and hope that the owner would consider these points and make the necessary changes for the next guest. Thanks

Spring getaway

We had a good time, host was very responsive. We went to Bear Valley for the day which wasn’t too far. Cabin was fine but very dated especially the kitchen! I suggest bringing your own pots and pans if planning to cook.

Secluded and Charming

My family stayed for two nights. The property is set quite a bit back from the road, which was nice. There was a decent amount of snow but the drive was plowed so getting in was easy. Very conveniently located to many outdoor activities plus a large DVD collection if you want to stay in.

Great house for a family weekend

The house is great and super comfortable for the whole family. It spacious, has lots of beds, a comfortable kitchen. I think it should be noted that the access in winter is tricky, it requires an all-wheel drive or chains, and you need to exit in reverse for more than 100 ft. You also need to bring your own linens and towels.

Cabin in the mountains

this is a great location! in the northern part of Camp Connell means short driving distance to Bear Valley - and if there were snow, then skiing. The cabin is well set up and warm- has a lot of space for our group of adults and 1 child. Three bedrooms that can easily sleep 10 (with sharing). There is a great fireplace and cozy couches in the living room. Nice woods in the back of the cabin and up against a ranger station so no worries of being on others properties.

Needs improvement and better cleaning

Pros: excellent location and good wi-fi Cons: Very dirty and needs a thorough cleaning, mold in the shower, dirty kitchen appliances and pans in the cupboards, grimy wood floors, stained carpet, greasy stove vent, bbqs that needed a thorough cleaning and the strange hairball? by the front steps should be removed. Needs many repairs for the holes in the carpets, missing light switches, dog chewed door, master bedroom drapes, missing light bulbs (6 of the 12 bathroom lights were out as well as 3 of the 5 dining room lights were out and no spares available), loose kitchen sink faucet. This would be a great rental if the owner would do a thorough cleaning and lots of needed maintenance.

Why they chose this property

In the summer, enjoy the beautiful outdoors at the cabin barbecuing on the deck or sitting around the fire pit to roast marshmallows. Get out and go for a hike through Calaveras Big Trees State Park. You can fish, kayak, canoe, or even pan for gold on the Stanislaus River, or spend the day swimming and playing at Lake Alpine or Spicer.

Explore at California Caverns, climb, crawl and squirm through gooey, sticky mud, or take a tour at the Gold Cliff Mine. Explore 2 historic gold mine sites, or at the Moaning Caverns, you can rappel 165 feet by rope to the bottom of the main chamber.

If you enjoy the wine country, head down to Murphy’s, a 30 minute drive to visit some of the Sierra’s most outstanding wineries. Ironstone Winery is stunning and has great concert attractions. They also have excellent wine and in a vault the largest piece of gold ever found in California.

Murphy’s downtown has charming shops and wonderful restaurants in which to dine, in addition to many wonderful wineries and a local brewery.

Arnold is closer to the cabin to spend the day browsing shops and restaurants, including the Snowshoe Brewery, that has some wonderful micro brews. Sarafina's Italian has great food and pairings of local wines, but usually requires reservations. Also, the Giant Burger has great burgers, chocolate dipped ice cream cones, and more.

For those who like to golf, the closest course is Sequoia Woods and Forest Meadows in Murphy's.

In the winter, watch the family sled in front of the deck or build a big snow man. We are only a 20 mile ride to Bear Valley Ski Resort for some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the Sierras, without the crowds.

What makes this property unique

This cabin is beautiful with vaulted ceilings and hardwood floors. It is fun to snuggle and relax in front of the fire place and watch the snow fall outside.

You will need to bring your own sheets, pillow cases and towels. We also do not provide shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, or lotion. Everything else is provided.

In the winter, even if the roads are clear you need chains or a 4x4 to get down the driveway to access our cabin!!!!

We do have a dart board, but we do not provide the darts. Bring your own darts, but play at your own risk.

We are very close to the Camp Connell store, in case you may have forgotten to bring something you may need. During the Summer, they have live music on Saturday nights for free, and have beer, wine, and coffees available. In addition, we are near the Lube Room, which has good food and a full bar. Great place to hang out in the back during the Spring and Summer.
