Lake Placid Hillcrest Haven - Sleeps 14 - 1 block to Main Street

This unique Lake Placid, Adirondack style home was built in 1915 as a year round home for a well-to-do family and shows it in the detail and quality of construction. Over the years it has been thoughtfully maintained and upgraded, while retaining virtually all of the original charm of a house of that era. As with many homes built in the early 1900's, it has many little nooks and cranies where you can grab some quiet time with a good book. It was purpose built to be a large comfortable Adirondack home for a large family and still is.

Details such as beautiful wood railings, built in book cases, a beamed ceiling in dining and living rooms and even skeleton key locks that work on many doors are all part of the experience. At the same time, upgrades, such as a new large master bath, enclosed wrap around rear porch with bay window, and granite kitchen counters have expanded the living area and comfort of this home. Your favorite quiet breakfast spot will be in a corner of that porch surrounded by windows. The deck with Adirondack style railing and the large (accommodates 6) spa you step into right off the deck is another favorite spot of our guests.

The location (one short block from the center of town - short walk to everything) is ideal for large groups and families in particular. At least a dozen restaurants, many shops, movie theater, Olympic skating arena, Mirror Lake and more are literally within a five minute walk. The kids can have as much freedom as you wish. The beautiful Lake Placid Resort golf course (45 holes with an outstanding links layout) is a three minute drive and great tee times are always available. Likewise, Whiteface ski area, Olympic ski jumping, bobsledding, and cross country venues are all within 10-15 minutes.

A fully equipped kitchen, woodstove in living room (wood supplied by us), five televisions, two VCR's, DVD, and wireless internet access make this a house ready to enjoy. Parking for 5 - 6 cars in our driveway and garage.

We have a caretaker in town who maintains the house and hot tub. He is also available to resolve any problems that may arise with the house.

A security camera located on our garage monitors the driveway.

Great tor skiing

Stayed for ski weekend. Used the shuttle sometimes to get to from the mountain. Very convenient. Spent some time seeing the sites. Went to ski jump area. Highly recommend. Saw actual jumps in action. Awesome.

House is great but would recommend a couple things. Need new bedding and towels. House is old but really cozy and handled our crowd well. Also would recommend a little more in kitchen bath supplies or state they are not covered. Overall great lication and great experience for us

Thanksgiving

This is our second Thanksgiving staying in this wonderful house. It is in a perfect location to access shopping, restaurants, and any outdoor activities you might be interested in. There is also plenty of space, we are a family of 10 and never feel crowded. I highly recommend.

Weeklong stay for Ironman

This was a great place for us! Super convenient, comfortable, lots of space for gathering but also easy to get away if you need peace and quiet. Bob was very responsive, although we really didn't need anything -- everything was ready for us. Would definitely stay there again.

Ski Weekend in Lake Placid

Beautiful, spacious home in the heart of the village within walking distance of Main Street. The hot tub was a big plus after a day of skiing. Would definitely recommend.

Lake house close to everything!

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is very large and has lots of space for a large group. Plenty of places to hang and unwind. The hot tub was a bonus. We grilled and hung out on the back deck at night. The house is very close to town and has enough parking for 5 cars. We walked everywhere. The older kids In our group loved that a Starbucks was on the corner. The side street going down to town is very steep, but we didn’t have a problem with it. The owner, Bob, was very responsive and helpful while we were there and answered all the questions we had. We will be coming back!

Great location and huge house!

We stayed here for a baseball tournament with 3 families consisting of 6 adults and 5 teens/tweens and it was fantastic! There was plenty of space and privacy for everyone, plenty of dining and deck space, and the walk into town was minutes. The kids enjoyed the hot tub and all of us enjoyed the deck space. Note: the walk back from town is quite steep. Also, there is parking for 3 cars in the driveway but they are blocked in by the last car and there is no street parking.

Pond hockey weekend

We had been bringing 1 pond hockey team up for many years, after hearing about how great a time we had another group of players wanted to participate. 6 guys away for pond hockey is fun, 12 is twice as fun. This house allowed us to have both teams stay in one place. This is our second one stay and we hope to have this house available every year. We had a few guys want to arrive a day early to ski Whiteface and the homeowner was great to work with in adding an additional night pretty close to our arrival. Hot tub is great post ski and after hockey games.

Perfect for a Friend Group

We stayed there with a group of friends as a tradition. There was a lot of space for us to gather and hang out. There’s plenty of hot water for everyone, very nice washing machines and dryers, and great water pressure!

Great House!

We had decided to try a new spot this year as we come to lake placid yearly during Columbus weekend. We've been coming to LP for the last 10-15 years. The house was great and in a good location. We enjoy being close to downtown. The backyard area and jacuzzi was a nice spot to hangout and unwind after a long day. Communication with property manager was good, got back to me when he had a chance. Only thing I would say is that the 3rd floor bedroom is listed as a king however it is two mattresses put together with a king sheet connecting the two. And the 2nd floor bedroom door knob needs to be secured or tightened down as it kept falling off numerous times when you open the door. It also sounds like the exhaust fan for the 2nd floor bathroom needs to be cleaned out, it first started off with a loud hum and then a squeal so we just opened the window. Just minor stuff but still was worth it spending the weekend there. Would rent again! Thank you!

Shirley and I are married 51 years and have 5 children. We own and operate a small family business together. We bought the house so we could all enjoy it year round (great golf in the Adirondacks is a well kept secret). As we have started to rent it, we have found a great deal of enjoyment in sharing it with the many wonderful people who have visited and loved staying at the house.

Why they chose this property

Before purchasing this house we enjoyed winter skiing and summer hiking & fishing in the Adirondacks with our family for many years. Finding great golf courses with easy access was a real bonus. We love the idea that we have a place we can enjoy year round. When we visited the area over the years we were always drawn to the village at night for dinner and relaxation. So a location in the village was important to us.

What makes this property unique

Built in 1915, the house is a large and comfortable family residence. It is ideally located because it is in the heart of the village. So whether we feel like a cozy weekend or a sporting day with nightlife, we are in the ideal location to quickly get around.
