About this property

Nestled in the Southern Kettle Moraine Forest

Gorgeous two bedroom located in the forest right on the Nordic Trail. Walk right onto the miles of hiking/cross country skiing trails and a just a quick couple mile ride to the John Muir and Emma Carlin mountain bike trail heads.

Hang out with Alpacas, get fresh eggs from the chicken coup, be entertained by our goofy Nigerian goats and don't forget to met Angel, Charlie and Poopsie! Enjoy coffee with the views of the pond or relax by the fire pit. It all awaits you on your relaxing get away!

There are two large bedrooms, a king and a queen. The great room has plenty of room to relax. There is also a work out facility with a tread mill, TRX, weights and a trainer for your bike. The stocked kitchenette has granite counters, a Keurig, hot plate, microwave and toaster oven. A private entrance gets you all the benefits of a whole house rental with the high touch customer service of a B&B. It's a perfect get away for couples or families ready to get away and unwind!

We are located in the town of La Grange, just 10 miles from UW Whitewater, 10 miles from Alpine Valley, 20 miles away from Lake Geneva and under an hour drive to both Madison and Milwaukee.

Local attractions in addition to Nordic, John Muir and Emma Carlin include Scuppernong, Lapham Peak and Old World Wisconsin. We also have a number of local experiences we can hook you up with including cooking classes, state park tours, pottery glazing classes and candle making. Please take note that we are in the Kettle Moraine and during the winter months a 4 wheel or all wheel drive vehicle is required.

Wonderful and secluded rental

The Den is a lovely getaway from the world. You can hike right up to the Nordic trail in the Southern KM. The area has some fun sights/restaurants and the owners are very welcoming and knowledgeable. It really has a rustic feel with modern amenities. There are alpacas, chickens, goats etc. The dogs were fun to play with as well. I would stay again!

Excellent Hosts and Property

Jarvis and Chris host their VRBO at their stunning home, nestled in the Kettle Moraine Woods. They were the most gracious and kind hosts, and their property is full of peace and joy, serenity and opportunities to explore nature. We were dazed by hummingbirds and woodpeckers while also enjoying visits to their chickens, alpacas, and their sweet dog Sophie. We will absolutely return, thank you so much for a great weekend!

Great location

We were greeted by the owner and was given a tour of the property (beautiful). The accommodation's were clean and beds were very comfortable. They had bread and danish on the counter, eggs and a couple beers in the fridge. Would recommend this to anyone!

Stunning Property!

We loved every minute of our stay! The home and property are stunning! The grounds are immaculate with spectacular gardens and blooming flowers! We felt we awoke to a paradise! The house was sparkling clean and we wished we could have stayed longer! They had thought of everything from bacon and eggs to beverages and everything in between. Our daughter adored collecting eggs and visiting all their beautifully maintained farm animals. Hope we can come again!

We just can’t say enough about our stay at the Den! The pictures and descriptions really don’t come close to the amazing reality of the accommodations and surroundings. So much to discover and enjoy!

We were met by our amazing hosts when we arrived and given a great tour of the whole property. From the beautiful gardens to the fun farm animals—the outdoor space was so well cared for and breathtaking. Chris and Jarvis thought of everything for our visit and were so generous and thoughtful. The bed and living area were very comfortable. Everything was clean as can be. Communication was perfect. Location was great for our visit to Alpine Valley Music Center. I would love to stay here again for another concert or even just for a quiet getaway!

What a weekend! Myself and my children just experienced the most relaxing weekend at The Den! Such a clean and beautifully maintained property with the most welcoming and accommodating hosts! We had a lovely fall weekend! The accommodations are wonderful and very comfortable. fresh eggs, bacon, and toast (provided) for breakfast followed by several different hikes. We also visited Hippie Tom’s Serendipity Farm (it was open for business the weekend we were there) bought several items. The hosts are experts and can direct you with ideas. Wonderful stay at a beautiful house/farm!

A gem

Beautiful, relaxing place!

My husband and I and one other couple were in the area for a wedding this weekend and wanted to stay somewhere relaxing that wasn't a hotel. We are all homesteaders at heart, just haven't found the right piece of land yet, so it was absolutely wonderful to get to meet and play with all of the goats, chickens, ducks, alpacas, and of course the very sweet donkey, mule, and pony. The property is stunningly beautiful and Chris and Jarvis were so welcoming. We were given eggs from the chickens, bacon, pastries, bread, and a bottle of wine and told that if we needed anything else, including more eggs, just ask. Everything was very clean and there was plenty of towels and bedding. The back porch and pool area were lovely. Chris recommended a local supper club for Friday fish fry, The Nitingale, which was delicious. Our only regret was that we were only there for the weekend and had to spend most of Saturday at the wedding! We will definitely be back. :)

10 Stars!!

We absolutely loved staying at this place and can’t wait to come back. Jarvis and Chris were incredible - super friendly, gave us great recommendations of things to check out, and had everything we needed + more. The property is stunning. Gorgeous woods surround it and they have beautiful perennial gardens all around. We adored the animals too - dogs, goats, alpacas, and more. Make sure to give Austin the goat some extra pets when you visit. The area is awesome. Lots of things to do from hiking trails in the backyard to kayaking to brewery visits. We were there to see shows at Alpine Valley and it was a quick easy drive to and from the venue. Can’t recommend this place enough. We hope to be back soon!!

Serenity... with kids!

I couldn't be more happy with this experience. There was enough activity locally to keep kids (7&8) engaged while accessing opportunities nearby. Chris and Jarvis were welcoming and responsive. The kids fed the goats and alpacas and collected fabulous eggs from the coop. We feel completely relaxed after a lovely long weekend.

A feast for the eyes!

We have stayed at numerous rental properties over the years and this home was above and beyond our expectations!! So much to enjoy and explore! From the collection of unique antiques inside the home to the beautiful landscaping and grounds outside, everything was top notch and perfect! We felt instantly welcome and had so much fun visiting all of the animals! They are all well cared for and truly living their best lives!! We love the outdoors. Whether that's hiking, biking, skiing or just watching all of mother natures beauty! Our property sits on 6.5 acres in the rolling hills and trees of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Our location has allowed us a chance to enjoy the beauty of the forest and create a great little farm filled with chickens, goats and Alpacas!
