Freshly completed in 2019, this one bedroom garden-level suite is in the heart of Kitsilano - one of the most central and fun neighbourhoods in Vancouver.

This suite is located approximately four steps down from a tranquil, sun-drenched garden with waterfall, ponds and patio. Ceilings are a clear eight-feet throughout the suite. The bedroom boasts a luxurious pillow-top king size mattress and walk-in closet. Living room includes a queen size pull-out sofa, cozy electric fireplace and 50" Smart TV. Kitchen is well equipped with all new appliances, dishes, basic pantry supplies and everything you will need for your stay. Bathroom includes full size tub and all new fixtures. The kitchen, bath and entry have underfloor heating and the suite has its own independent heat controls. There is a private clothes washer and dryer. The yard boasts a lovely outdoor living space where, in nice weather, you can enjoy a morning coffee or an afternoon glass of wine. Public transit is only one block away and there are easy connections to the airport, downtown and all the key Vancouver destinations.

Accommodation in Vancouver
The house was very clean and very well fitted out with plenty of utensils, towels etc. The location was good as it was a short walk to shops, cafes, restaurants and more than 2 bus routes. Access to the city centre was easy and we bought/used a card which eased paying for bus journeys. For us, over 60, it was only $2+ per trip. The garden was beautiful with easy access, but not too private if the landlord was out in his part of the garden. There was a BBQ with fuel and utensils. The only minus point we have is that the description of the apartment which was a good size for 1 or 2 persons. It was not really a "garden" apartment. It was below ground level and therefore a "basement" apartment which required lights on most of the day. Despite the lighting issue we have given it a high rating because it was very well fitted out/ clean and comfortable.

The basement apartment was clean and comfortable and worked very well for me. There is plenty of natural light in the space.It’s walking distance to many restaurants and shops along Broadway.Parking was always available right in front of the house.

Another Great Stay!
This was our second stay at Neil and Heidi’s place and it was superb again. The suite is spotlessly clean and is ideal for a short or longer stay. The bed and linens are wonderful and the neighbourhood is absolutely quiet at night. The suite is ideally located … a 20 minute drive from the airport, in a quiet residential area (nice for evening walks.) Grocery stores and nice neighbourhood restaurants are close by, even walkable. 4th Avenue shopping is a short (5-10 minute) drive. We won’t hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended.

Walkable Kitsilano Neighborhood in Vancouver BC
I arrived on a rainy Wednesday, dripping wet and so glad to step into a quiet, warm and inviting guest suite. I communicated with my hosts all week, especially after an unexpected power outage and internet interruption. A few details: the bed (in the bedroom) is wonderful. So nice to snuggle under the duvet at the end of the day. My daughter visited me--from Seattle--and when she came into the guest suite, exclaimed "this is like being at YOUR house!" which is really a testament to how comfortable and homey it truly is. Every detail is lovingly attended to, there's a lovely electric fireplace, etc. The kitchen is well stocked with amenities (non-food, I mean to say), and on that score, there are at least 3 grocery stores within walking distance, one a gluten-free healthy one with at least 6 different soups daily. There is a beautiful patio garden with a pond, however since it is smack in the middle of autumn I didn't spend much time out there....so, to sum up--and I'm not sure I can!--this was a marvelous home away from home for me. Excellent neighborhood & place
We really enjoyed the neighborhood (Kitsilano) and the space was perfect for us - comfortable for two adults. It's very well designed, spacious and had all the amenities and resources we need. Neil & Heidi were absolutely delightful as we had the opportunity to bump into both of them and enjoyed our brief discussions. Would definitely recommend staying here (they have great tips on local restaurants and coffee spots and there is a fantastic bakery just a few blocks away!).

Neil and Heidi thought of everything when they designed this lower level suite. It was homey, well-outfitted and chic. I travel a lot and this is by far the most enjoyable stay I've had in a rental apartment, including how centrally located it is in a lovely walkable neighbourhood. This property is so clean and inviting! It has all the amenities we wanted (including a dishwasher and room to unpack). It’s in an upscale neighborhood close to locally owned restaurants and grocery stores. We especially enjoyed eating dinner at Folke, an all vegan restaurant, and getting to-go from Nuba (Lebanese) in Kitsilano. The hosts made us feel welcomed and appreciated, and we truly appreciated their effort!

Great place in Kitsilano
We had a wonderful time in Vancouver and the garden suite was a great home base to explore the city, surrounding neighborhoods, and UBC. It is convenient to transit that runs frequently that will take you anywhere in the city, close to restaurants and fun retail, and walking distance to the water. Heidi and Neil have created a welcoming space with everything you need for a great stay!

A little gem in Kitsilano
We absolutely loved our stay at this Kitsilano oasis! The location to major attractions including Granville Island, Kitsilano beach and Stanley Park is perfect, and Kitsilano offers a wide variety of shops and restaurants nearby on 4th ave and West Broadway. Our hosts Neil and Heidi were very accommodating and do provide a lot of valuable information on what to do and where to eat etc. We also had access to a beautiful backyard and a bbq for a late afternoon apéro or dinner. Therefore, we highly recommend this suite and would definitely go back on our next trip to Vancouver.

We were so impressed with how great this rental is. It is clean and neat and beautifully decorated. Hosts provided many extras to make our stay comfortable. The king bed and quiet neighborhood made sleeping away from home easy. It is a quick walk to access shops and restaurants. There is nothing I would change about this beautiful rental. My wife Heidi and I, and our two university age children, love spending time outdoors (skiing, canoeing, hiking, kayaking and surfing) and traveling. Our main base is in Vancouver but we also spend time with our family in Victoria and at our home on Mayne Island. We have a number of long term rental properties and two furnished VRBO rentals in Victoria, one in Whistler and this one in Vancouver. We are members in good standing with Landlord BC and enjoy taking exceptional care of our tenants and our rental properties.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this property in 1993 and undertook a big renovation to it in 2003. We renovated it again in 2018, including taking the suite down to the studs.

What makes this property unique

We absolutely love this house and location. It is a quiet street, yet walking distance to all amenities. We enjoy running to the beach and the local parks. The proximity to public transit and downtown is the icing on the cake. We have created an oasis in the backyard that creates a perfect spot for unwinding.
