We stayed in Bardstown to visit several surrounding areas. We felt safe and secure and our home there and we found it to be a great central location. The inside and its furnishings were just lovely. We definitely would consider booking again.
My wife and I stayed a couple days in Bardstown after a week working in Louisville. This historic spot in the downtown circle could not be any better of an option to walk to various restaurants, lounges and bars, and all the retail options. Sue is a great host and my wife and will definitely stay again.
The location of the loft was ideal for both the distillery tours I had planned for the trip and for the pleasure and ease of enjoying our evenings and mornings wondering Bardstown. The rooms were fabulous, bed was cozy and the linens were plush and soft. Convenient parking for access to the loft as well. We can not wait to come back in the fall.
We were in town for the Bourbon Trail and Derby. We rented multiple units from Margaret Sue because we had a group of 8. We were close enough to each other to walk, and Margaret Sue was so accommodating. Bardstown's location is perfect for visiting lots of distilleries, and there are great places to eat dinner. We love Bardstown and the quaintness of Margaret Sue's rentals.
Nice place in a great location. Go to the bourbon trail often and will definitely be staying here again.

Hello, I am Margaret Sue Masters and I along with my husband, Michael Masters known as "The Colonel", have bought and restored 4 private cottages in downtown Bardstown. In 2004 we purchased the Chapeze House, circa 1787, downtown off the court square. In 2010 we converted this property to the Kentucky Bourbon House with 2 charming private suites; The Bourbon Loft & Chapeze Suite. We also conduct inside the Bourbon Bar 2 classes; Bourbon University and Bourbon Mixology twice daily Mon-Sat. We also host intimate wedding ceremonies and elopement packages. Couples can choose to marry in the elegant parlor or in the formal garden that makes up the back yard. Come experience our "Hospitality Kentucky Style"...….
Why they chose this property
The Loft is located upstairs inside the Kentucky Bourbon House, circa 1787, historically known as the Chapeze House. This is a very special piece of real estate in Historic Bardstown. Dr. Henri Chapeze came over with General Marquis Lafayette, both from France in 1777 and helped George Washington win the American Revolution against England. During that period of time Bardstown advertised for a physician and paid with the deed to a city lot as an inducement. Dr. Henri Chapeze, a surgeon came and built this house in 1787, that is why there are 2 front doors, one for his residence and the other his medical practice. He had 2 sons, Bed and Henri. Ben was a lawyer and he started a distillery near where Jim Beam is located today, called Chapeze Distillery and they produced the Bourbon "Old Charter"., a premium bourbon still in production today. Bardstown Tourism had their offices in this building for many years, when they moved their offices to the Court Square, it went on the market, My husband always loved this building so we bought it in 2004 and spent 6 months restoring it. Come to find out that the home's architect, John Rogers, from Philadelphia, had also built my Grandmother's house where the Colonel and I had married in 1993 , so I in turn fell in LOVE with this house as well. At the time I was in the bridal business so our main use of the house was wedding and receptions. In 2010 we converted it to a Boutique Hotel and renamed it "The Kentucky Bourbon House"
