Very disappointed
I would give this studio minus five stars if possible. I stayed in Karen's studio long term from March 17 through April 11. I actually rented the studio through April 26, but I left early due to the poor conditions and safety concerns in the studio. I expressed to Karen I would like to leave the studio early and asked if I could get a refund for the days that I vacated the studio early, but she said no.
I was very disappointed in the condition of the studio. The plumbing did not work properly. The shower would fill up with water overflowing the shower pan within minutes of starting the shower. The toilet wouldn't flush properly, and you were not allowed to put any toilet paper down the toilet. I had to throw used, dirty, toilet paper into a trash can Karen provided after using the toilet. It was disgusting! The toilet and the shower were both plumbed to a French drain which are against California code.
The electrical was overloaded with an on-demand, hot water heater. If you turned on numerous power switches and tried to use the hot water it would shut off. The plaster in the skylights was falling off on my head. There was a 3' diameter oil stain in the driveway that was incredibly slippery when getting in/out of your vehicle, there are no exterior lights which make it difficult to see in the dark and the grass was 8" tall.
Over the course of my stay in the studio I informed Karen of the electrical, plaster and plumbing problems. Karen brought in a handyman to fix some of the issues; however, the issues were still the same after the handyman supposedly fixed the problems of which I informed Karen. In short, I would not rent this studio until it is repaired up to current, California code and inspected by the state.
