About this property

Yosemite Gold Rush Ranch, Stunning Views & Private, Pickleball!

NEW in 2025! A brand new tournament sized Pickleball Court!

Our peaceful and very private 9 acre property sits on a high ridge with expansive views of the Sierras, where deer and rabbits hang out. The home - a modern cabin experience - is perfect for a family but cozy enough for couples.

You will be just 35 minutes (22 miles) from the Arch Rock Entrance to Yosemite NP - the only all-season highway to Yosemite that's open all year round.

Come and enjoy the views and the seclusion!

Our backyard is an amazing oasis of peace and tranquility with no neighbors in sight. The newly built custom rock fire pit sets the mood for late evenings under the starry skies. Watch the evening light slowly fade away into darkness. See the stars blanket the night sky and the Milky Way. It's peaceful and quiet up here - just rabbits and deer wandering about. The red barn stands peacefully in the middle of the property.

From every room you will have unobstructed views of the Sierras. Inside the house the decor is modern minimalism. The great room overlooks the Sierras with postcard views through large windows. A Sonos sound system lets you relax to your music with a crackling wood stove providing the ambiance on cooler fall and winter days. In the mornings, watch the sun rise over the mountains from the comfort of the cabin or from the back deck.

If cooking is your thing, the home has a brand new kitchen with all new appliances and cookware. We have fridge, stove, dishwasher, toaster, pots, pans, cups, plates, utensils, InstantPot, Rice cooker, and a BBQ grill. Love coffee? We have Oxo burr coffee grinder, Hario v60 pour over setup, mokapot and a Ninja coffee maker.

For entertainment, Roku TV in guest mode lets you sign into your own streaming services through high speed Starlink Internet.

There’s a bathroom with stand-in shower right off living room for quick showers. The second bedroom has two twin beds and an attached bathroom with bath tub and a shower. The master suite has a king bed with a bath tub. With three full baths, your entire group can get ready for the day or quickly unwind for the evening.

We have a heat pump that keeps the house cool in summer and warm in winter. It's powered by solar and Tesla Powerwall battery. Even in a power outage, you have peaceful, quiet power that will keep you comfortable.

There's a level 2 EV charger next to the barn to get your EV charged up and ready for your adventure the next day. We have Tesla solar and Powerwall batteries for clean power during power outages which is quite possible during hot summer and stormy winter days.

Sleeping arrangement:

Bedroom 1 (Master) has king size bed and its own bathroom and closet.

Bedroom 2 has two twin beds with its own bathroom and closet. Note that the 2nd bedroom is not private. You have to walk through the 2nd bedroom to reach the Master Bedroom. So the home is suited more for a single family than multiple families vacationing together.

The Living Room has a Queen sofa bed and comes with bedding for a good night sleep.

We provide all of the bedding and bath linens for your use during your stay. We also provide body wash, shampoo, conditioner, dish soap, toilet paper, tissue, paper towels and trash bags. There is also a washer and dryer if you need to get laundry done. We have high speed Starlink Internet (300MBPS) and a level 2 EV Charger for your Teslas, Rivians and any EV with a J1772 plug.

Security Cameras:
Please note we have two exterior cameras for security purposes - one in front of the house facing the driveway and one at the gate as you enter the property.

Internet:
With Starlink Internet, you can combine work and play. On average we get 300MBPS down / 100MBPS up which is great for Zoom calls for your whole group.

Electric Vehicle Charging (Additional Cost):
We have a standard level 2 EV charger that you can use to charge any EV for an additional cost. We will let you know exactly how much you used during your stay and charge you what the power company will charge us for KWH used at the end of your trip. Tesla owners, don’t forget to get your J1772 adapter!

Pets:
We are pet-friendly. If you are bringing your pet, please let us know when you book. We charge an of $50/per pet per stay for additional cleaning. Below are the house rules that you MUST follow:

- Pet must be house broken
- Pets are NOT allowed on any furniture or beds
- Pet MUST NOT be left unattended at home anytime
- You should pick up after the pet in and around the property

Groceries & Restaurants:
Since we are between Mariposa and the Park, it would be convenient to do your groceries in Mariposa on the way to the home. Pioneer Market is open until 10:00 pm throughout the year. There’s also an organic country health food store that we love with lots of vegetarian options. They usually close at 7:30 PM.

There are a few nice restaurants in Mariposa that might require reservations during busy times of the year. None of them stay open super late, so please call ahead.

Great family location

My family and I had the opportunity to stay at this wonderful property in March. It was well maintained, clean, and had plenty of activities to pre-occupy my 2 boys (15 & 17), when we weren’t out at Yosemite hiking. It had great views and was perfect for our small family.

Great stay, property is full of thoughtful details and is quiet and secluded with a view. Conveniently located, not too far from the park. Hosts were extremely responsive and obviously put a lot of care into the place. Will definitely be staying here again.

A lovely stay during our trip to Yosemite

The house is beautiful, comfortable, well stocked, and surrounded by nature with amazing views. It’s an easy drive up the 140 to the Arch Rock entrance to Yosemite, and the gold rush town of Mariposa is very close by as well. Highly recommend!

Comfortable house

The house size was very nice. But oddly you had to walk through one bedroom to get to the master bedroom. In an attempt to be helpful, I guess, the host left notes all over the house. Unfortunately, it felt like I had gone off to college and come home and mom was leaving me notes about the house rules. The property itself was nice with an amazing view, but the neighborhood was a little rundown with junk vehicles, etc. in the yards.

Great location for a Yosemite vacation.

We stayed at the Gold Rush Ranch for our family vacation to Yosemite (4 adults). We spent most of our days at the park which is just under an hour away. But after a long day of hiking it was so nice to come back to a clean comfortable modern home. The beds were very comfortable and the home had everything we needed, linens, towels, washer/dryer, wifi, coffee maker etc. And the view on the back deck was absolutely beautiful, especially in the morning. The town of Mariposa is barely 10 minutes away where we were able to buy groceries and eat dinner out each night. We definitely recommend this VRBO rental. Thank you Rekha and Shyam for sharing you beautiful home with us.

A great place if you want to relax. 45 min drive to Yosemite but rewarding when getting there. Great view of the Mountains a even better at night time to see the stars. Place is fully equipos so we felt like being home. Owners are very friendly and communicative, which help quite a lot. Truly recommend it

Yosemite gateway

Beautiful spot. Views are amazing. Very private. House was spotless. 45 min drive to Yosemite entrance. 60 minutes into the valley itself. works best for a family with kids, as the second bedroom is a walk-through from the living room to the master bedroom Highly recommend.

Beautiful, Cozy, Clean Home

This home and property are absolutely beautiful. We stayed here while visiting Yosemite and while we spent most of our days at the park, which is only about an hour away, it was so nice to come back to the home at the end of the day. Upon arrival it was spotless and Rekha and Shyam left a light on for us since we were coming in late. The home had everything we needed, linens, towels, wifi, etc. The view of the mountains in the morning was spectacular. I would highly recommend this property and Rekha and Shyam as hosts! They were in contact with us for any questions we had and very responsive! We will definitely be back next time we come to Yosemite.

Private and peaceful

We enjoyed our stay very much. The property is very private with beautiful vistas. The house is very roomy, clean and functional. It was nice to be close to Mariposa for dining and shopping. There were deer and hare around the house in the morning and evenings - fun to see. We drove to Yosemite every morning, probably about an hour to the valley. We would definitely go back if we were visiting Yosemite again.

About the host

Hosted by Rekha & Shyam Subramanyan

Host profile image
Shyam and I live in the Bay Area area and love the outdoors. California has some great national parks and we visit them multiple times a year with our three boys to hike, backpack, and watch and photograph wildlife. We host two homes on Airbnb - this one near Yosemite and the second one just outside Lassen National Park. When you stay at our home, you will see landscape and wildlife photos that our family took over the years.

Why they chose this property

The little town of Midpines has been our favorite staging area for our Yosemite adventures and we bought a home in 2018 to make our trips more convenient. Our home sits on a high ridge along Highway 140 which is the only all-season highway into the park. The 22 miles drive along 140 to the park goes along the beautiful Merced river as it snakes into Yosemite Valley.

What makes this property unique

Every room has a view of the sierras. The 9 acre property is private and no neighbors in sight. You will have access to all of the property. During the day, you can spend time taking in the views. At night you can enjoy the dark skies with views of the Milky Way.
