The hosts were so warm and friendly. We felt right at home. The property is simply stunning. We were able to walk around a bit and even fiah in the river behind the house. The unit was very clean, spacious and fit all of our needs. We cant wait to go back!
Very clean and nice, large comfortable bed. As others have mentioned, if you are sensitive to sound, you may want to look elsewhere--you can hear steps very clearly, as this apt. is in their basement. But other than that--it is great for the price!
The property is located on a wooded lot and the creek is nestled down behind at the bottom of the escarpment. Very scenic and a nice hike down to the river. The property was clean, spacious and well-kept. The owners are fantastic and their two dogs are super sweet.
I surprised my husband with a birthday weekend getaway here - the property was exactly what I was hoping for. Peaceful, secluded - anything we needed was 15-20 minutes away. The kitchen afforded us the luxury of cooking comfort meals during our stay. Communication was impeccable - apartment was clean and inviting.
This was the cleanest place I have ever stayed. Everything was very comfortable. Good amenities - no kitchen but microwave, small fridge ,coffeeand tea pot. Amazing property out in the country. Great place to go for a walk but not too far from things. Would highly recommend for a couple looking for a respite!
The host, Barbara Eddy was extremely attentive and friendly. We enjoyed our eight-day stay in her beautiful, well-furnished place. We would have stayed longer if it had not been rented for the weekend. We arrived from Hawaii to visit my Mom, family and friends in the area. We will definitely stay there again in the future. I loved this place! Safe and calming, separate entrance, and spacious! Hosts were super friendly! They had dogs, and a couple of chickens roaming around. You can hear some sounds above you, as this unit is the basement suite. There was a nice walk to the fire pit on the river. Definitely going back!

The Bed Princess loved the comfortable King sized bed. Spacious bedroom and living room. Very clean and recently renovated. Barbara and Tim are friendly and responsive. The location is a quiet, wooded area in sleepy rural Jefferson County that allows a visitor to relax, slow down and enjoy the quiet Chaumont River. We heard the songs of at least 15 different bird species in just eight minutes at 6 am.
Shower is a bit small. Soundproofing could use improvement at 5 am. A kitchenette would be nice, and is nearing completion.
Excellent value. Good place to explore the Thousand Islands area.
Property is very well maintained! Very, very clean!
Although we only stayed one night this time, we could see a return trip in the future and staying longer!!!The suite had everything you could ever need! The king size bed was very comfortable!!
A little bit of a struggle with the directions as the County Route sign for 179 is very small (no fault of the hosts)as well as GPS considers it a route not a road as it states in the directions. It would have helped to have said it was a left turn off of Route 12 when you arrive in Depauville from Watertown:)
A very quiet peaceful stay up until 6:30am when we repeatedly heard the hosts’ large dog running back and forth (??playing ball) upstairs above us until about 9:30a Since check out was not until 11a and we had been out to an event in Clayton the night before, it would have been nice to sleep in a little before our 2and 1/2hr ride home. We definitely will keep that in mind the next time we book!
This place is fabulous for peace and quiet - Beautiful home nestled into about 10 acres of woodland - The owners have done a great job on landscaping there property - The accommodations where more than I expected - huge comfortable king size bed - large living room area with comfortable sofa and recliners - fully equipped kitchen ideal for two people - and a seating area outside for early morning breakfast-The shower controls took a wee bit to get used to - very sensitive but I got the hang of it in the end and last but not least - THE DOGS - two bedroom gorgeous German Shepperds - brothers - 3 years old - all bark and no bite - what I mean by that is that they will bark when you come into there property and then they will come a tail wagging and licking your hands very very friendly -The hosts were very friendly and forthcoming with any questions etc that I had - Unfortunately my trip was cut short due to an approaching weather system ( I was on my motorbike ) so I did not get to socialize with them as much as I would have like - Again a perfect quiet getaway and I would recommend it to anyone - 5 stars
so peaceful very nice host very lovely property and home

We love to meet new people and already had the pleasure meeting some wonderful folks we hosted. This is our calling and we thoroughly enjoy it. Life is very good!
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with our property the moment we set foot on it. It is the woodsy place we always sought with access to the Chaumont River. It is close to Kingston (Canada), Clayton, Alexandria Bay, and Watertown for entertainment and shopping pleasures. It is in the woods for relaxation and quiet time. There are safe cycling routes in our area. Hiking and biking can be done right next to the shores of Lake Ontario. All around an ideal setting for the active vacationer and guests who to just want to relax.
What makes this property unique
It is quiet at our place. Located in the woods has the tendency to ground people. A couple from Europe visiting last year noted this. Personally, I am fond of the wild life all around me. I also love the short nature walk leading to the edges of the Chaumont River. Morning coffee by the water is a special treat in the summer!
