Miðengi is a new modern 3 bedroom luxurious villa located in Grimsnes, 45 min drive from Reykjavík. Its a walking distance from Kerið and 30 min away from Geysir, Gullfoss and Þingvellir.It was build in 2010 and is 97 square meters. The Property is very well equipped in every way, its surrounded by terraces, outdoor Jacuzzi, outdoor barbecue (gas), extra cost. garden furniture and the whole house is floor heated .There are three bedrooms all equipped with queen-size bed and a wardrobe, the master bedroom has a TV. The living room and the kitchen is one big area with large windows and a door to the terrace and a dining area for 8 people, TV and sofa. The kitchen is fully equipped, it has fridge, freezer, dish washer, spam stove tops and an oven. The bathroom is equipped with a shower and a door to the Jacuzzi. There is also a washing room which has an extra refrigerator. The Cottage has a Wi-Fi. up to 15 GB

Perfect location and facilities
Our second time in the cottage, and as with the first time, everything from checkin to checkout was faultless The cottage is spotless, equipped to a very high standard and in an ideal location for south and mid Iceland. To stand on the deck at night and gaze at the huge sky of stars with no light pollution is amazing.

Perfect Vacation Stay
I can not say enough wonderful things about Thor or his family's incredible cottage. This was our first ever VRBO stay and now the bar has been set high. Thor was fantastic with communication beforehand and met us at the property upon check in. He explained how everything worked and showed us the book with instructions for anything we may forget. The book also included wonderful suggestions for sites to see and places to eat and shop. The cottage itself was beautiful, cozy and clean. The beds and linens were extremely comfortable, the kitchen fully equipped and the decor was beautiful. Soaking in the hot tub after a long day of sightseeing was just another bonus. Selfoss, which is less than 15 minutes away, has everything you could need or want. The cottage is located within a short drive to many must see sites on a trip to Iceland. We would definitely stay here again in the future.

Cute Cottage
The cottage has a nice isolated feel, even though there are others relatively nearby. Nice grill. Relaxing hot tub (be careful not to close the door to patio, as there are no handles on the outside). We got a bit turned around on our inaugural trip out and Thor was very responsive - kindly meeting us in town and leading the way.

Absolutely perfect
The title says it all. The Thorsson family are very kind and helpful people and their cottage is lovely. The location was very convenient to Kerith Crater and many of the best sights in Iceland. The town of Selfoss is only a 10-15 minute drive away and has everything you might need - a supermarket, clothing stores, a new food hall, several very nice restaurants. We saw the Northern Lights 3 of the 8 nights we were there - incredible! There is very little light pollution at the cottage as the nearest neighbors are not very close. All of the amenities (bed, hot tub, kitchen etc) were perfect. To sum up, I would definitely stay again. The cottage has a perfect balance of being quiet and secluded

Summer 2022
Without doubt, the nicest, friendliest host we could have hoped for in Thor! Superb, detailed communication, precise driving instructions from Keflavik, and met us in person at the cottage. It was our first visit to Iceland - they say that first impressions count, and our first impressions were how clean, well appointed and located the cottage is. Reykyavik only an hour away, Kerid crater within walking distance, Selfoss 25 minutes away for fuel, food and supermarkets. Located on the Golden Circle and with the south coast easily reachable, each of our 10 days brought something new, knowing that we had a comfy, warm and peaceful cottage to comeback to. We have nothing negative to say about Thor's property - we were sad to leave, but are already planning for next year, as there is so much to see in Iceland in so little time!

Amazing homely experience centrally located to golden circle
The property was very nice. Fully furnished, conveniently located. The hot tub was a huge plus to unwind and relax later in the day. Location is central for true Iceland experiences around Golden Circle. It was absolutely the best experience ever. I would highly recommend.

Schönes Haus in bester Lage für Ausflüge
Das Haus von Thor Thorson ist wunderschön, groß und komfortabel eingerichtet. Die große Terrasse hat mehrere überdachte Sitzplätze für Sonnen- und Regentage. Wir haben jeden Tag den warmen Pool genossen. Sehr gut gefallen haben uns die Moskitonetze vor den Schlafzimmerfenstern und der mit frischen Bohnen gefüllte Kaffeeautomat! Vielen Dank dafür! Die Küche ist gut sortiert mit viel Geschirr und Besteck. Statt eines Wasserkochers gibt es einen Pfeifkessel. Teetrinkern wird die Teekanne vielleicht etwas zu klein sein. Im modernen Bad gab es ausreichend Handtücher. Vermisst haben wir lediglich eine Wäscheleine für draußen. Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen und können das Haus sehr empfehlen.

Relaxing stay in a perfect Cottage
Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt in diesem sehr gut ausgestatteten Haus. Es fehlt in diesem Haus am nichts! Alles war super sauber. Die Lage des Hauses ist toll um viele interessante Ziele im Golden Circle zu besichtigen. Wir hatten sogar das Glück aus dem Whirlpool hinterm Haus Polarlichter bestaunen zu können. Der Vermieter ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir würden jederzeit wieder hier herkommen! Vielen Dank für alles!

A wonderful place in a wonderful country
We enjoyed our stay 100% at Thor's place. The house was clean, the beds were comfy and the hot tub was an added bonus. With four kids, the washer and dryer really came in handy. The location was perfect for us. We wanted to me in the middle of all activities, and this location was convenient to everything we wanted to see. I think the longest we drove to get to site was maybe 1.5 hours. We rented a car, and it was very was easy to drive around Iceland. Thor (and his family) have everything you need in the house...including great coffee! We sat outside in the hot tub each night hoping to see the Northern Lights! Our kids liked the house so much they wanted to stay there instead of sightseeing! We used the grill more than once too! We would for sure stay again, and thank you Thor and family for such a wonderful time in your beautiful country.

Amazing gem in a great location
We spent a little over a week at this property for a family vacation - 2 adults and 2 older children. The house itself is fantastic, and was immaculate when we arrived. The property owner, Thor, met us at the property when we arrived to show us around and explain how everything worked, and was a pleasure to deal with throughout our trip. The house has a nice open and airy design, and has all the comforts of a great place to stay, from a great coffee maker to a fantastic hot tub with plenty of hot water. The washer/dryer were also great. The location was fantastic in that it was easy to get to so many sights and attractions with a very short drive. Would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking to spend time in Southern Iceland.

Amazing location, owner, and house!
Our family (2 adults 3 kids) had an amazing time at Thor's place. The house is roomy, clean and offers all amenities that you could want in a location that can't be beat. The location by the crater offers a central point to hit all the southern Iceland destinations and our week at the house allowed us to see all the main and many "hidden" attractions. Could not have asked for a better place to stay and highly recommend for anyone who wants to see a beautiful part of Iceland and stay out of the tourists trap of Rekyavik!

Wonderful cottage!
We absolutely loved our stay at Thor's property. There were 3 adults and 1 young child, and we had plenty of space. The property itself is beautiful! Very clean and comfortable. The views and surroundings are spectacular! The location is nice and close to the Golden Circle and South Coast, but with relatively easy access to Reykjavik (about an hour away). The hot tub is a nice perk! There are some quirks with the hot tub and appliances, and when Thor walked us through how to run everything, we were all sleep deprived from travel, so I would just encourage future guests to listen carefully and make sure you understand 100% how to operate all appliances/hot tub :) Thor was very responsive to our questions and helped us work out those quirks quickly. He was a very nice host and we thoroughly enjoyed staying at his cottage. We would recommend it to just about anyone looking to stay outside Reykjavik and closer to nature!

Fantastic cottage in a beautiful setting
We had the pleasure of spending 6 nights at Thor’s beautiful cottage during the Easter school holidays. Thor was a great host and made us feel very welcome. The cottage was a perfect base for our days spent exploring Iceland . The hot tub was used every evening and was a perfect place to relax and watch the stars. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights during our stay - something really special. Don’t think twice about booking this cottage - you won’t regret it

Comfortable and Convenient
We are so happy we rented Thor's place. We were travelling with four children ages 3-12 and the house had plenty of room for us and allowed us to save money by cooking meals at home. Everyone loved the hot tub. It's location was great: near enough to Selfoss for convenience, but also not a long drive to Thingvellir National Park, Geysir and so much more.

Amazing cottage in prime location
We looked all over VRBO for the right lodging for our recent trip to Iceland, and I am so thrilled we stumbled upon Thor's cottage! The location was ideal for us. Even though we were close to Selfoss and all the amenities of the town, as well as the various surrounding tourist destinations, the cottage was far enough away to feel peaceful and remote. We drove past horses and sheep each day, and the view of the stars and northern lights from the deck was incredible, to say the least. The hot tub was so easy to use, and it provided great comfort and relaxation on the cold evenings as we viewed the sky. Thor's cottage was immaculate and well-appointed, and he and his wife were such gracious hosts. We tried all of their restaurant recommendations and were extremely happy with all of them. Thank you to the Thorssons for making our mother's 75th birthday trip such a spectacular adventure! I can honestly say your cottage made our trip.

Wonderful Cottage in a Perfect Location for Exploring Iceland!
This home exceeded our expectations. It is a very comfortable, clean cottage in a great location and served as the perfect home base for our Icelandic Adventures. My family spent our days driving around exploring the amazing sites and we enjoyed coming home to relax in the hot tub in the evenings. We were even lucky enough to see the Northern Lights one night (in early September)! Thor is a gracious host and was very responsive to all of my requests prior to arrival and during our stay. He was also very flexible with our arrival and departure times. Thank you, Thor, for your kind hospitality and for sharing your beautiful home with us. I recommend this cottage without hesitation and would gladly stay here again!

Super cozy, great for young family, easy driving for day trips to really experience Iceland
I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to be centrally based with easy couple hour drive in any direction to really experience what Iceland has to offer. Thor really was an excellent host. Even with a 24hr delay on our flight arrival, Thor was flexible and made check-in a breeze. The house was very cozy, simple and a great place to come back to after our daily adventures. The hot tub was perfect to relax in each evening. We had young kids, 7/9 and they enjoyed it. Thanks Thor for helping us make a very memorable family vacation.

Perfect house for 6 in an incredible location
Great house with everything you would need for a short or longer stay. Very comfortable and modern. Incredible location right in the heart of the best of Iceland in the Southeast. Easy day trips to last at least a week. Great hot tub. We are ready to come back in the winter to see the northern lights next time!

Wonderful cottage near Selfoss!
Our family of 4 truly enjoyed every minute in Thor's cottage. The cottage is just across route 35 and the Kerid crater lake, 15 minutes to Geysir, 30 minutes to Gullfoss, 20 minutes to the hot River near Hvergardi, and just minutes from Selfoss. In short, this is an ideal location for viewing all the wonders of SE Iceland. The cottage is modern, well equipped, very comfortable with lots of glass and a connection to nature feel. The outside grill (Icelandic lamb and seafood are abundant and high quality) and large hot tub were a special treat we looked forward too in the evening. The cottage, its location, and the owner Thor exceeded our expectations. Staying at this cottage added a lot to our trip in terms of enjoyment and relaxation. Thanks Thor for the opportunity to share your beautiful cottage and country with us.

Perfect stay in the golden circle
We stayed in this beautiful and well equipped cottage for eight nights and enjoyed the atmosphere. We also enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. The cottage is well located to start serveral adventures in the south of Iceland. It was a fabulous place to stay for our first exploring of Iceland. It was warm and we had really everything we needed. The views from the living room and the hot tub were glorious. We felt very lucky to explore the Golden Circle and our trips to Vik and Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon and diamond beach. Our great memories will last forever. The custumer liaison and support of the owner Thor was outstanding so that we can recommend it by heart.

A wonderful, well appointed cottage perfectly situated to explore the Golden Circle and beyond.
This is a fabulous place to stay and our 6 days of exploring Iceland for the first time were made even more special by having this cottage and it's hot tub to return to every evening! Wonderfully warm courtesy of its underfloor heating, we had everything we needed in this well appointed modern cottage. The views from the living room and huge deck were glorious and we were treated to the amazing spectacle of the Northern Lights right above us on 4 nights out of 6! We felt very lucky to experience such an amazing week in a truly special country. This cottage is ideally placed to explore the Golden Circle and beyond, the 4 hour road trip (each way!) to Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon and diamond beach was a highlight as was watching the Northern Lights from the wonderful hot tub! Memories that will last forever. The town of Selfoss is a 15 minute drive away with a good selection of shops, further adding to the appeal of this location. Many thanks Thor for sharing your wonderful cottage with us and for your assistance in making our Icelandic 'adventure' a fantastic experience! We hope to return again one day.

A great adventure!!!
This "cabin" in beautiful inside and out! It was full of everything that we could of wanted, and the hot tub was a great bonus. The views in every direction are great and the central location to everything in the Golden Circle was perfect. It was close enough to town but far enough way to escape and have a great view of the northern lights. Thor is great to work with and will give you advice on places to go and things to do. He is very available! Loved this place and loved the adventures and memories we where able to make!!! Thank you Thor
