About this property

Townhouse on Colonial Lake, Near the Battery, King Street, and Marinas

Charmingly Charleston is an ideally situated townhouse located across the street from Colonial Lake and Moultrie Park in downtown Charleston's Historic District. It is a perfect spot for visitors who want to really enjoy living in Charleston like a local! Our charming home away from home is a lovely place to rest your head while visiting Charleston for a month or longer.

Decorated in a quirky, relaxed Lowcountry theme, Charmingly Charleston offers two bedrooms, one and a half baths, living room, separate dining room, fully equipped kitchen, and laundry room. The primary bedroom is large with a walk-in closet and a queen-sized bed. The second bedroom is cozy and has a day bed with trundle and a writing desk.

We are located South of Broad, on Colonial Lake, near the Battery, the Safe Harbor Marinas, and within walking or biking distance of the Medical University of South Carolina and College of Charleston. A nice walk or pedi-cab ride away you will also find the City Market, Gibbes Museum, and the fabulous shopping & dining of King Street.

Enjoy Charleston's wonderful restaurants, antique shops, historic and ghost walking tours, horse drawn carriages, tours of historic homes, harbor cruises, and the South Carolina Aquarium all nearby!

It is also an easy commute to Boeing or a jaunt across the peninsula to Charleston Law School. Additionally you are just a short drive from five beaches, seven marinas, and more golf courses that I can recall.

Don't wait, just grab your toothbrush and come on!

Interested in staying longer? Ask me about our lease rates for three or more months that include housekeeping, Internet, and utilities.

Please note, that per Charleston's draconian ordinances, we are a monthly rental and do not rent by the night. However, at these fabulous rates, you can book for a month for the cost of two weeks in the party district!

Cancellation Policy
We are not the Hilton, and when you make a reservation, we hold the space for you and turn away other guests so you will have this special place. People searching for monthly rentals usually book 6-12 months in advance, as such we are not able to offer “flexible” cancellations.

If you have any questions, please contact me. We love hosting and sharing our city with others, and we hope to see you soon!

Met our needs perfectly

My wife and I had to be in Charleston for medical treatment at MUSC. The location was so convienent for our daily visits, 4 minutes from the Hollings Cancer Center. Aside from why we were there, the location was perfect for everything "historic Charleston." Situated among streets of history and amazing historic streets and homes to stroll among. You can safely walk to your hearts content. Our host, Maxine, was most easy to contact and was accomodating to our needs. Her townhome was clean, well maintained and tasefully decorated. Everything that you would need to get started for a long term stay was there for our use. Our 2nd evenig there, the television faded to black and it was done. Maxine had a new one installed the very next day. And she fully loaded it with streaming programming, Netflix and such. What more could you ask from a host? Thank you for everything, Maxine. CWD

Most Wonderful!

We loved everything about staying at this property. Carefully maintained and decorated, this townhouse is spacious, light and very clean comfortable - plus it’s in an outstanding location at the corner of Colonial Lake. The location feels quiet and distant from the crowds visiting historic downtown, but actually it’s only a few blocks away from restaurants, bistros, galleries and shops. The host could not be more gracious and responded immediately to any question. I recommend this wonderful property most highly.

This is a pet-friendly house in a lovely neighborhood less than a mile from downtown. It is located in a very walkable neighborhood, next to beautiful mansions, a lake, and the battery. Maxine is a very attentive host. All in all a great experience!

Convenient, Dog-Friendly, Downtown Charleston Location

This small, clean, urban townhouse was the perfect spot for two of us to get acclimated to Charleston's historic downtown area with our small dog in tow during a 1-month January stay. Out the front of the unit were two gems: Colonial Lake and Moultrie Park. The 1/3 mile circuit around Colonial Lake was the perfect, dog-friendly walk to start our (and his) day, complete with "poop bag" stations at each corner. The tennis courts at Moultrie Park provided a quick, easy, and free introduction to the Charleston tennis scene. Out the back of the unit was a large green known as the "Horse Lot," an off-leash area that often had plenty of dog and owner friends to meet. Short walks in any direction gave us plenty to do and see. Walking 15 minutes to the north landed us in the vicinity of MUSC and the "Beach to Battery" greenway to James Island. Walking 15 minutes to the east (along Broad St.) landed us at King St and East Bay St, where food, drink, and shopping abound. 15 minutes to the south and east gave us many beautiful walks through the historic neighborhood of the "South of Broad" area, including a walk along the scenic waterfront battery. The unit's off-street, free parking was a big asset that cannot be overstated in busy Charleston. It's location along Broad St, a major artery in and out of the city, gave us quick access by car to James Island to the West, North Charleston to the North, and Mount Pleasant to the east - all of which were places worth exploring. The owner was readily available to answer questions and address our needs, both before and during our stay. Check in and check out were easy and straightforward. Although on some nights we could hear voices from the adjacent unit and there was some road noise, our stay was a pleasant one. We definitely appreciated the opportunities the unit's location afforded us and recommend it to others.

A Fabulous Family Getaway

We had a wonderful time! This place has lots of charm and such a warm place to come home to after long days of exploring, walking around and eating yummy food. It is also centrally located and allowed us to fill our days with walks around Colonial Lake (literally across the street) and down to French Quarters. It is also conveniently located for short drives to explore the surrounding areas and beaches. It was our first time in Charleston, and this place allowed us to take in as much as we possibly could in one week. We look forward to returning soon!

Great place

Property is wonderful. Lots of parking, which is at a premium in Charleston. Easy Uber if you don’t have a vehicle. Short walk through South of Broad to the Battery, about a mile to upscale shopping. Nicely furnished, everything you will need for a month. The owner is very accommodating and available.

We were in Charleston yea...

We were in Charleston years ago while I was a research fellow at MUSC. When we found this town house located on Ashley Avenue, near Colonial Lake; we were excited. We knew this location was great and very popular. When we came to the house we found everything just we had dreamed. We had stayed two months and enjoyed a lot. We recommend this house to every one coming to Charleston!

What a superbly charming ...

What a superbly charming house on Colonial Lake. Palmetto motive very fetching and fitting. The position is perfect for walking the whole town. Improv at theatre 99 to be recommended, plus all the garden & house tours available. Wireless in the house is most welcome. Perfect house, felt like home from home - hopefully available again. We enjoyed staying at the Colonial Lake Townhouse in Charleston. The location was excellent and the accommodations were exactly what we were looking for. We would recommend this town house to anyone wishing to see Charleston. Also there's a very pretty lake right across the street with a walking path around it, and public tennis courts right there as well.

About the host

Host profile image
This was my home for years before moving to Washington, DC. I hope you will enjoy visiting as much as I loved living here. I am a real estate agent licensed in SC and VA - if you have any questions about Charleston or would like to talk with a Realtor, I know several I can recommend for you.

Why they chose this property

It is perfectly located Downtown on the quiet side of the peninsula. You have all of the charm of being in the historic district without all of the tourist traffic. If you are driving, you will also enjoy two off-street parking spaces, a rare find in this part of town!

I love being across the street from Colonial Lake and the tennis courts. My dog loves being adjacent to the Horse Lot, a park where all of the local dogs gather.

What makes this property unique

The location is fabulous... you are downtown near the Battery and King Street but out of the heavily trafficked French Quarter. We have hosted everyone from visiting faculty at MUSC and Spoleto artists, to people relocating to the area and those who just enjoy visiting like a local.
