Great Winter Get Away

What a beautiful place to stay in the winter time. The cottage is so cozy and theres lots of seating space to spread out and socialize. We had a great time playing games, cooking in the spacious kitchen and sitting down for meals together.

Excellent location, property and hosts

Words cannot describe how beautiful this property is! The cottage is massive! When entering the home, the first thing that hits you is the wonderful smell of wood from the high cathedral ceiling and beams throughout. There is a modern country feel to the place (because of the very cool light fixtures). There is more than enough room for a large family, with plenty of seating on both floors (including the cute loft) and its 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms! And the place was sparkling clean! And that's not mentioning the beautiful grounds leading to the lake and all the deck/patio spaces. We had the best time ever! Our hosts Adèle and her husband were wonderful and very responsive to our questions. We will DEFINITELY go back!

Great place for a large family

We stayed here in the winter, with a family of 12. The place was big enough to accommodate all of us, with a variety of activities for all age groups and lots of space for people to participate, not participate. The kitchen was also well stocked for group cooking which was great.

Amazing Christmas at the cottage

We stayed here with our family over the Christmas and had an amazing time. The house is very spacious and cozy. Plenty of rooms amd bathrooms for a large group. Kitchen has almost all the appliances you can imagine as well as all cutlery, etc. There are a few sitting areas with couches where you can enjoy a conversation, listen to music or watch some classic movies on VHS or DVDs. Outdoor area is also very beautiful with a firepit. Looks like it would be a great place to be at in summer time as well. Location is also convenient if you are coming from Toronto with just over 2hr drive. Highly recommend this cottage!

New to "cottaging"

This was our first experience with 'cottaging" with family (8 people aged 17 to 76). Adele and James were very responsive and welcoming. The cottage was large with enough bedrooms, dining areas and common space for us to enjoy. We especially liked the fire pit and enjoyed many evening fires with s'mores. Paudash lake was great for fishing (we caught enough fish for multiple dinners) but there is limited swimming off the dock due to shallow waters, mucky bottom and weeds. (but fishing off the dock was fun!) We did however find a nice sandbar area and rock cliff bay which were great for swimming. Paudash Marina was also awesome - we rented 3 different types of boats during our 3 weeks and staff at the marina were very helpful and knowledgeable. We also enjoyed Kawartha ice cream from the marina on several occasions. Only challenges we had were the stairs to the dock area - over 30 steps up & down and this was difficult for the older persons in our group (especially if you forgot something in the cottage), and the internet connectivity (which should improve shortly with Bell Fibe coming to the cottage). All in all, it was a fantastic 3 week vacation for our family to make memories!

Great week at Paudash

Loved the property. Plenty of room for our group of 7. The gathering areas both upstairs and downstairs were roomy and welcoming. Beautiful view of the lake from the cottage. Shout out to Adele. She couldnt have been any more accommodating. She checked in with us periodically to see if there was anything that we needed and was always reachable. Truly a great week at the lake!

Beautiful property in beautiful surrounding

Outstanding property, extremely well equipped kitchen, great boxed outdoor fire pit, attention to details and clean, spacious, very fast and clear communication, very friendly and helpful host. Normal 10A plug available outdoor to charge EV. Would be nice to leave a bit more detail instructions on-site (garbage and laundry handling, wi-fi code, etc).

Spacious but cozy!

We rented for a weekend in the winter and weren’t disappointed. Cottage had everything we needed and the heated floors made it very warm and comfortable. Very private with lots of nature around us. Owners were easy to communicate with just a text away. Would definitely rent this cottage again! Thanks

Amazing stay, 10/10!!

My family and I had an absolutely amazing time here. The cottage was A++ in cleanliness, charm and comfort. Our group consisted of people from ages 4-80 and we all found something to entertain ourselves with in gloomy weather. This property is definitely going on our favourites list! The owners were wonderful as well and replied very quickly to any questions we had.

Perfect Location

Great location at the foot/head of both sides of lake. Marina conveniently close by. Lots of room and beautiful architecture - amazing kitchen and set up to socialize with family and friends. Love the huge porch! Steps to lake could use some TLC but I would love to come back - it felt like home. The Fall season was simply spectacular.

Nice, spacious cottage; beautiful setting

We stayed here in late September 2022. Our group had 7 adults and 2 children, and there was plenty of space for us all. Any issues we ran into were minor and promptly dealt with by the host. The location is beautiful. Wonderful hiking in nearby Silent Lake provincial park.

Great week getaway!

This is a great, spacious property that will suit your entire family. It has everything. We were 7 family members and 2 dogs. The property is gorgeous, with many trees providing shade. The kitchen has simply everything you will need. It is an older property but it is not rundown; it is very cozy feeling, even though large enough to spread out. The deck off the master bedroom and dining room is closed in and a perfect spot for morning coffee with the dogs. You will not be disappointed!

Not quite as listed

,This is an exceptional property. The building is beautifully constructed and situated on a high bank above Paudash lake across from a marina. This is not a wilderness area; it is a built up lake with many cottages and this property is relatively secluded but there can be continuous boat traffic as it is situated across from a marina and close to the channel linking upper and lower Paudash lake. The cottage is well furnished and equipped and easily accommodated our large group: my wife and me, our three adult children, their partners and 5 grandchildren aged 6, 5, 4, 4 and 3 years. As a previous review stated, this property is a gem but seems to have lost its lustre and is less than well maintained. The cottage binder was in need of organization and an update with much old and contradictory information (e.g., contrary to binder, garbage can be dropped off at either of 2 nearby landfill sites, no resident card is needed, garbage bags and recycling options clearly are discretionary). The plumbing fixture in the master bathroom was broken and inoperable, we suspected an earlier leak as the downstairs was a bit musty, ceiling tiles stained and one bedroom mouldy. The BBQ was good but the tank near empty and the spare tank empty requiring a trip to the marina (the owner promptly reimbursed us). The flagstone steps down to the lake were precarious and stonework and steps around the cottage were loose and tricky for unsuspecting children and adults. The play structure was old, rusty, tempting for young children but not worth the risk. The water was high and any sandy beach area was below the waterline so kids required very close supervision jumping from the wood dock that would benefit from maintenance. There was a raft to swim to and from and water was great despite nearby boat traffic. Fortunately Silent Lake Provincial Park is very close, uncrowded and has wonderful facilities and two perfect, kid friendly beaches on a pristine wilderness lake. In summary, this is a great cottage that needs some upkeep and attention and not quite as listed but we had a great time.

cottage is a fading beauty

The drive was easy - cottage is just a couple of minutes from the main road. The master bedroom was very comfortable. The cottage had obviously been pretty luxurious at one time but needs a bit of TLC, especially the docks and stairway to the lake. The cottage sits fairly high up from the lake and the property is heavily treed so families with children should be aware that there is no direct sight line from the cottage to the water. We were worried when we saw how close we would be to the marina but that turned out not to be an issue. Boat traffic was light and generally slow. We happily used both the paddle boat and canoe. The cottage sits on a section of the lake that is very shallow and weedy, even very far out from the shore, which may help to explain the light boat traffic. But those weeds and the very soft lake bottom aren't much fun for swimming or wading. Finally, there were lots of religious (Christian) icons and books throughout every room. As a family of atheists, this felt a bit off-putting to us but could possibly feel downright unwelcoming to people of other faiths.

Big cottage but not what I expected

The cottage is big with lots of room for 10 people but it was like visiting grandma’s house. It’s decorated like 1970 and needs a much needed update. The fridge/freezer is much too small, the owners have left random expired food in the dirty pantry, the tap in the master bath sink was broken and there was a major leak in the downstairs bathroom. Thus required the use of a pale and we realized it was coming fine the use of the master bath sink which we stopped using. When I notified the owner, he said they would fix up next time they came up. Clearly well aware of the situation. This cottage needs a lot to be ready for renters, as I have a long list I can share but won’t. This cottage is totally overpriced. But all in all, we still enjoyed the time with family and the weather was nice.

Great stay!

We absolutely loved our stay over the May long weekend. The house is large, clean and well stocked. The views and the lake are beautiful. We appreciated having the canoe and kayaks to explore the lake. Having the marina a very short drive away was great, especially when we lost power during that epic storm. The fire pit area is very nice with comfortable seating around it. Communication with Uwe was good with quick response times. We would definitely go back.
