Safety concerns, inaccurate info

No locks on doors for when we were away. Advertised resort building closed all season but not noted on website, meaning no access to wifi for safety. No maps or materials to inform of local activity, not even a deck of cards! The yard light between the cabins was out. NEVER SAW THE OWNERS AND THEY LIVE ON SITE! My daughter and I did not feel safe and will not be back. It was basically a roof over our heads on a lake.

A True Haven in a Restless World

For those looking to get away from the sound of blaring sirens and avoid the temptation to check in with work while on vacation, Mike and Mary offer the perfect spot on Callahan Lake, complete with abundant wildlife viewing and kayaking opportunities. Woodhaven Resort offers a traditional up north experience: a basic, well-kept cottage with screened-in porch, a good fishing lake providing plenty to watch but secluded enough to enjoy the serenity of the north woods, a boat and motor (if desired), a beach area with swimming raft, and kayaks. The lack of a tv in the cottage, wifi available only at the lodge, and spotty cell service (at least with Verizon) were all benefits in our minds, forcing us to put away the electronics and enjoy the beauty of creation as well as picking up a book, or playing a game together. Mike and Mary are excellent hosts who have done a great job of adapting to COVID-19 concerns while still providing a relaxing setting. The sunsets, relaxing paddling, and daily eagle sightings made our stay at Callahan Lake a wonderful getaway.

peaceful getaway

It was really hot but we brought extra fans that pulled lake breeze into the cabin. More wildlife than anyplace we have ever stayed. ( Deer, fish, otters, huge snapping turtle) Ate a meal of fish and was beyond my expectations
