Short get away

We made a 2 day trip from Atlanta. The home was lovely and incredibly comfortable. We made a day trip into Asheville which was not a bad drive. If you are not use to mountain driving the roads can be a little challenging but very scenic!! The outdoor experience was breath taking. The weather was perfect....comfortable and sunny. We would definitely be back!!!

Very nice!!!

Had a wonderful 13 night stay in mid summer and we could not have been more pleased. Lots of personal touches throughout the home. Fabulous views, the covered portions of the porch provided a nice breeze most anytime. Deer, turkey, rabbits, lots of birds (swallows, hummers, gold finch and the occasional hawk). Very quite location, few cars along the road. Communication with owner superb. The home is equipped with every pot, pan and utensil you need. Lots of spices and other condiments, so you need not lug your own. Burnsville is close by and a terrific mountain town. Not far from to Asheville, Blue Ridge Parkway and Mount Mitchel State Park. We enjoyed all our winding drives through the hills and along the creeks. You will not be disappointed.

Wonderful Family Vacation

Our family spent Thanksgiving weekend at this beautiful home. It is perched high up on a hill and has breathtaking 360 unobstructed views of the surrounding mountains. We got up every morning to enjoy the beautiful sunrise and go out to feed the horses. It's a short trip to Burnsville and about 35 minutes to Asheville. Mt. Mitchell is also about an hour away. The home is lovely and well kept. The kitchen was great to cook in and had all the nice pots and pans you could possibly want. Everything about the property exceeded our expectations! We will definitely be back!

Best views ever

Most impressive place we have ever stayed!!!! Everything seemed to have been well thought out as to the comfort of guests. Plenty of games to play, great outside sitting opportunities, well placed fire pit, great selection of movies, and views everywhere you looked. The photos of this place really can’t capture what it is once you arrive. Will be sharing this place with all our friends

A MUST stay NC property

Our host Brett was attentive & available from early booking on and all thru our stay for any questions we might have had. Yes, for those who can't do without - internet, cable TV & Wi-Fi cell phone service was excellent. The cabin was spacious, clean & comfortably decorated. Many spaces for the family to just kick back & relax watching movies and a great big dining table for meals & game playing. When it came time for 'quiet time' the bedrooms were well furnished with COMFY beds and the master suite is so well designed we intend to emulate it into our own new build. It shows that great thought was put into this vacation rental with all the 'just like home' amenities from the kitchen to the bedrooms to the baths and beyond. Equally impressive is what Mother Nature has done for the exterior. The trails are a great addition, the waterfall is a must see hike. If you're just into relaxing - well you've got 3 whole comfortable decks to choose from. And make sure you bring plenty of apples/carrots for the neighbors horses, because they aren't going to just let you 'walk on by'. You'll find an overwhelming selection on VRBO, but I can promise you here- you'll also find 5 stars for this host & their beautiful cabin in the mountains. Well done. Thank you Brett & family!!

The Hawks Nest was a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The cool airs during sunrise and sunset were invigorating! There is a short hike to a waterfall, the rolling hills and trees for as long as the eyes can see were breathtaking. The wildlife that roamed nearby was jaw dropping but the best part was the baby birds living on the porch they were so peaceful to watch. The Hawks Nest is a definite MUST in NC a place to stay to do everything and nothing in the same visit.

Amazing cabin with surreal mountain views

The location for this property is amazing. It's about 20 minutes from downtown Burnsville and is up and away on a mountain with well paved roads in good condition. The drive from downtown to the cabin is spectacular running along the cane river. Likely to see some wildlife while driving. The cabin is perched up nearby some pastures where there are some turkeys and cows as well as horses. It provides an amazing view of the surrounding mountains. It's ideal to get away the crowds. The house itself is in great shape and is an excellent setup. The master bedroom is amazing and very spacious. The main family room is large and open and very welcoming. The upstairs entertainment area is a great area for the kids to hang and to watch TV if you so choose to do so (the views are better!). The lower bedrooms are awesome on the lower floor. All with convenient bathrooms that are nice and clean! The best part of this house outside of all the room to roam in the fields and along a trail is the porch. It wraps around 3/4s of the house and has an amazing area to sit and relax to stare at the mtns and watch the sunset. The night view of the stars is second to none with literally zero light pollution, you can see every star possible. The hosts are amazing and maintain great communication with you. They're readily available for any questions that you have and it's almost as if it's their sole job. Highly recommend staying here if you have the chance. Burnsville is a great town to venture into with tons of other great nearby waterfalls, gem mining locations, trails, and Mt. Mitchell. You won't be disappointed!

Magic on the Mountain

The Hawk’s Nest, November 4th-11th How can I describe the magical week my family spent in Burnsville, North Carolina? The weather forecast for our arrival waffled between rain and snow. Probably because we changed our car rental for our trip up from Asheville from a sedan to an SUV, we were graced with warmer weather and didn’t need an SUV after all! Every aspect of making this place a home is an apparent labor of love. There is no attention to detail that has been missed. The exterior and interior spaces add up to much more than the sum of the parts. Blankets, rugs, art work, furniture, lamps, fireplace, fixtures, books, yoga mats, stained glass all melding the inside with the out. The energy of Hawk’s Nest was welcoming and calming. Our hosts want us to gather in a space where we can connect with nature and each other. Although the home provides all the modern technology to stay connected electronically, we didn’t turn a television on once. There were plenty of games, cozy eating and playing spaces, walking trails, and expansive views. Our family has often celebrated Thanksgiving earlier than the actual holiday, and did so this year at the Hawk’s Nest. We found the kitchen and pantry to be stocked with every conceivable pot, pan, spice, and condiment we needed. Beautiful tableware, glassware, and cutlery made each meal we prepared and served a festive event! The Hawk’s Nest is a space that needs to be experienced, appreciated, and shared, even though I’m tempted to keep it for myself! A very heartfelt thank you to our generous hosts!

Views for dayyysss

This home was everything we could have asked for. The views are breathtaking and surrounding. The photos don’t do it justice. From every inch of the wrap around porch you have a majestic view ranging from up close and tall to long range. Bird nests on the porch were so amazing to experience and horses down the hill came to greet us. Book it. You won’t regret it.

No iPhones needed

Perfectly balanced between masculine and feminine, the home is beautifully decorated. The master bedroom suite is especially nice- the super comfortable bed feels like you are enveloped in a cloud. The kitchen and laundry room have everything you could possibly need, and there are also plenty of games, movies, and books. The views of the mountains and hills on the wraparound porch are gorgeous and calming. We also saw deer, horses, cows, what seemed like millions of lightning bugs sparkling in the trees, and birds of many colors. We even got to see three baby birds make their first journey into the world when they took flight from their nest on the back porch. If you are looking for peace, quiet, and solitude, this is the place for you! The owners are wonderful to work with and quickly answered any questions we had. They had suggestions for great hikes around the home, the best places to see the sunset, and things to do in town. However, we never felt the need to leave the house 😊. It was a great vacation, and we feel blessed to have been able to relax, rejuvenate, and Be Still in such a beautiful place. Thanks again, Brett and Alyson!

Beautiful views and very comfortable

We had a very enjoyable, weeklong stay at this property. The owners were responsive with any questions and made sure our stay was very comfortable. It’s a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle. We needed to go into town for some work calls, but the little town is worth visiting with lots of cute shops. The views are just breathtaking!

Heaven on earth

This was a spectacular home. From the incredible Mountain View’s and beautiful furnishings. We spent Christmas at Hawks Ridge and we had family from Asheville up for the day. Everyone said the cabin made the holiday extra special. Brett the owner was very helpful from the moment we reserved to the day we left. We walked away with beautiful memories and hope to stay in cabin in the future.

Exceeded All Expectations

Words and pictures can't do this wonderful mountain home justice. My family and I were looking for a " cabin" in the Asheville area. This place looked really nice and the location looked great. We arrived to find much more the a cabin. This a beautifully furnished home. There are way too many amenities to list. We were just blown away. Everything was just first class. The property itself is like out of a movie. It is set at the top of a mountain with deer running everywhere and waterfalls flowing. We immediately felt as if we had left found paradise. We explored the trails and found it to be very peaceful and very quiet. The little towns were also hidden gems. Asheville is very nice and full of things to do , but Burnsville and Weaverville had so much personality and charm. The shopping and the restaurants are never ending. We did not want to leave the house, but there was just so much to do! Of course, time went by way too fast. We wound up extending our visit for an extra day. The owners were so accommodating and very nice. They understood why we just did not want to leave. Overall, I would say this property was our best vacation in years. We have rented houses in the the Keys and California. It seemed liked we were always a little underwhelmed. The place was way more than we had ever hoped. We have already booked it again, in June. I can only imagine the mountain with all of the wildflowers and hummingbirds. In summary, do not hesitate to book this house. It is probably the best kept secret on VRBO. The owners are super helpful, the house is perfect, the area is God's country, and the food and music are great. You will not be disappointed.

Ideal getaway to rest and reconnect

I travel often for my work, so I’m on the constant lookout for a place to retreat for rest, renewal and reconnection. My partner and I needed a weekend away and this home/location was everything we hoped (and more). The house is truly a sacred, serene and inviting space. The owners are easy to communicate with and very quick to respond if you have questions. The porch and views are incredible!! The home is spacious and very well maintained. Each room has an inviting and comfortable energy. Highly recommend others to come rest and reconnect at Hawk’s Nest in Burnsville. Ps- Asheville is a 40 minute drive if you want things to do

Mountain get away

Simply amazing , this was by far the best vacation house we have ever stayed in . The views are breath taking from the top of the mountain . The host was always in communication and had all details written out from checking in to the tv’s to WiFi and phones , they left no detail out . Home very spacious clean and inviting , pictures do not do it justice . The property had amazing hiking trails and it’s own little waterfall . We are pre-booking this home again for our vacation next year , do not hesitate to book this mountain home .

Breathtaking views

I went with 7 other family members aged 20 yo 64, for a long weekend to just kick back and relax. We were all thrilled at what the cabin had to offer, from its 360 degree mountain views to the beautiful furnishings in the cabin. The ride up the mountain took a few minutes but it was definitely worth it. We all enjoyed watching the sun go down at night and watching the sun work it's way through the fog in the morning. It was absolutely beautiful to just be there and listen to the quiet of each new day beginning and thinking, God, you really outdid yoirself this time. We all had a great time and would definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone
