About this property

Cliff Cottage at Hague "The View" over Waltonian Islands Gracious Charm Sleeps 6

Welcome to 'Cliff Cottage' overlooking peaceful Northern Lake George in the quiet hamlet of Hague.

Living in Cliff Cottage is like being in a tree house overlooking Lake George and the Adirondack Mountains. The spectacular panoramic lake views are of one of the most beautiful spots on Lake George - the Waltonian Islands and Island Harbor. Our family began visiting Hague on Lake George in the early 1900's. If this is your first visit to Lake George, we guarantee you will be captivated by its beauty. For returning visitors, we look forward to sharing our mutual love of Lake George and the Adirondack Mountains with you.

Cliff Cottage is a rare find...a vintage Lake George cottage with newer amenities, such as a new kitchen and full bathroom in the master bedroom, and new windows. There is still LOTS of unique charm!

Cliff Cottage is directly across Lakeshore Drive from Lake George, overlooking the lake and featuring a screened porch and 3 decks, all with breathtaking views of Lake George, 'The Queen of American Lakes.'

Cliff Cottage does NOT have direct lake access. Swimming and lake access is via the Hague Public Beach, approximately 1 mile away. The lakefront across from the Cottage is private property. There is a nearby marina if you wish to rent a power boat, canoe or kayaks. Rogers Rock State Park is a short drive away, and has a beautiful beach and picnic area.

Cliff Cottage has 3 bedrooms (2 Queens and 2 twins) sleeps 6. There are beds for 6 guests with additional sleeping (2 max) on cots/inflatables (bring your own).

First floor contains two bedrooms (Queen with 1/2 bath) and additional bedroom with two twin beds. There is a full bath/shower on this first floor along with a new kitchen for 2019.

Second floor has the Master Bedroom (Queen and additional twin bed) along with full bath/shower.

Cliff Cottage is the perfect place to get away, relax and enjoy the moments. The view from the house is never less than breathtaking and makes it difficult to leave! Our family enjoyed the experience of living in our own little treehouse for the week and are looking forward to returning next summer.

Lake George Gem

My husband and two teenage sons just returned from a week at Cliff Cottage. We especially liked the location and all the activities we were able to do. We enjoyed the views from the porch and outdoor decks. Right behind the cottage are hiking paths with incredible views of the lake. In our opinion the northern end of the lake is much nicer and less hectic. Sandra and Bruce were very welcoming and always available for any questions we had. The people at Dockside Marina were very accommodating as well. All in all it was a great week with many fond memories.

Loved the Cliff Cottage

My husband and I stayed for 2 weeks at the Cliff Cottage. The listing accurately described the house and the location. Sandy and Bruce were excellent. All of our questions were answered quickly and they were available 24/7 in case any problems arose. The view from the enclosed porch is spectacular. We named the lake area "Our Cove" and spent many nights watching the boats gliding through this part of the lake. It was always our last stop before returning our boat for the day. The cottage is less than one mile from the center of town where the beach, general store and restaurant are located. Sandy recommended Dockside Landing Marina for boat rental. The people working here were excellent and helpful, which was good for us since we are inexperienced boaters. Every day of boat rental was spent out on the lake. The scenery is glorious and difficult to leave. The Hague Market has any little item you may have forgotten with excellent sandwiches, homemade bread and homemade desserts. All were delicious. We had such a great time we have already booked the Cliff Cottage for next summer.

Great place for a quiet family vaca on the lake

Great clean house for a small family. Fantastic view, minutes away from Hague public beach that is much cleaner and nicer than other public beaches across the lake. Area is less crowded than Bolton Landing, yet still 20 mins drive tops to good restaurants and attractions. Few good moderate hikes nearby. Definitely recommend and likely are coming back. Doug is a great host. Very responsive, all instructions are timely and crystal clear

Amazing Views and Cozy Home

We enjoyed our stay here. The house is old, with lots of character, and nicely furnished. Small kitchen had just enough of what we needed for our stay. We loved the views and relaxing on the multiple decks. Ticonderoga is a short drive away, with a few restaurants. We also liked the 2 1/2 baths. We rented a boat from Dockside Landing Marina, and they were great to deal with. The location in Hague up a dirt road really gives you the feeling of being away from all!

Beautiful Visit! Perfect spot.

We had a great experience at the Cliff Cottage. It was cool and rainy up at the lake, and the house was relaxing and made the weather enjoyable! The house is clean and has everything we needed. Sandra was extremely helpful and communicative. I'd highly recommend staying here.

Quintessential Summer Lake Cottage

I fell in love with this house the minute I walked in the door. It’s quirky and charming and so comfortable for a week at the lake. The view of the lake draws you to the amazing porch. I could just sit there forever! Even on a rainy day, the porch was perfect to take in the amazing lake views you can never get tired of. The house does not have access to the lake, but the views more than make up for it, and we took the kids to the Hague beach one day and had a nice time. The kitchen is small, but we did not do much fancy cooking, and it worked out fine. All in all a very relaxing stay, and we will come back for sure.

Amazing Lake View - Beautiful House

What a great house! Plenty of room. We especially loved the screened in porch that overlooks the lake. Even though it rained while we were there, we enjoyed hanging out in the porch area and watching the lake. The cute town of Hague is nearby with a good restaurant. Definitely a great way to be at Lake George without all the crowds.

No need to ever leave the back porch.

This was a fantastic find for our lake George vacation. The porch and decks offer fantastic views and we spent a lot of time hanging out there. The breeze through the windows kept the house very comfortable and the sound of the lapping wave at night was a treat to fall asleep to. The house itself is has a lot of character inside and is quaint and cottagey, which is what we were looking for. The kitchen a little dated, but functional, and it would seem out of place if they were to replace everything with modern high end kitchen stuff. The owners are very accommodating and easy to work with. We will be trying to plan another vacation here ASAP.

Perfect Getaway

My friends and I went to Lake George as a graduation trip, to spend some quality secluded time together. Cliff Cottage could not have been a more perfect location. We were so excited when we arrived and saw our house up on the cliff as pictures really don't do it justice. The inside is comfortable, functional, and even historical, but we really spent most of our time on the incredible porch because we could not get enough of the view. There was a lot to do in Hague without having to go very far, including boat rentals and hiking trails which were right behind the house. Sandy and Bruce were great hosts, and they really made the house and experience special for us.

Wonderful Get-Away .... Beautiful lake, island & mountain views

Fantastic anniversary get-away location. Although the cottage is situated across the shore road from Lake George and without water access, the incredible elevated views and comfortable rooms more than made up for it. We recommend setting the alarm for 4 am to watch the first light on the horizon across the lake and to hear the choir of birds in the surrounding trees. We had planned to go out for dinners but cancelled each night to further enjoy the decks, the views and the evening air. Sandy & Bruce were wonderful hosts. We can't wait to get back ... and bring family & friends to enjoy this piece of God's creation!

Amazing hospitality!

Bruce and Sandy are the kindest of hosts! We stayed for a few days during the week and had a lovely time. Sandy and Bruce instructed us to meet them at a easy to find location a few mins from the cottage and the led us to the house. They gave us a brief tour/history of the cottage and left us with some restaurant recommendations. The house is super cozy, especially the back porch which is where we spent all our time. It's just such a pleasant view! No regrets!!

Serenity on Lake George

From the moment we pulled into the driveway I felt at peace. The cottage is off a gravel road in the woods and faces one of the most beautiful views of the lake I've ever seen. I could have lived on the porch the entire week of our stay - it's wide and spacious and so cozy - the perfect place for coffee in the morning or cocktails as the evening sun sets. I also enjoyed the spectacular views from the look out point a mile or so up the hiking trail from the cottage. The views only get better from the outdoor shower and wrap around decks. The cottage itself has ample room for friends and family and a cozy and comfortable feel as if you were staying in a beloved grandmother's house. I can't say enough about the cottage owner's, Bruce and Sandy. We've been staying at their rentals for 7 years now(6 years at Island View and this year at The Cottage) and from the very first visit, they've treated us like old friends. They are readily available for any help you might need and know everything there is to know about Lake George and the surrounding areas. They go out of their way to make sure their rental properties offer all the amenities you might need as well as being cozy, comfortable, and clean. Nearby activities I'd recommend is spending as much time on the lake as possible. We also started hiking and have found numerous trails throughout the area and with varying degrees of difficulty. We hope to hike Mt Marcy if we can come back in September! Oh, and don't forget a visit to The Wind Chill - the best ice cream place ever - not far from Hague on the way to Ticonderoga! In conclusion, I'd say - "If you want peace and serenity in a place that will literally take your breath away, come to Lake George and be sure to stay with Bruce and Sandy Rust - either at The Cottage or The Island View - it'll be a vacation you'll always remember!"

Beautiful Cottage Comfortable stay classy furnished yet peaceful with an Amazing View

i stayed at the cottage with my family and friends for a weekend and it was a wonderful vacation just what we wanted to get away from the city life. Sandra and Bruce are the sweetest as they kindly accommodated us to every need . was blown away by the beautiful cottage and speech less from the breath taking view from the triple deck. it was very cozy as well as peaceful and romantic as each couple had there own room and privacy. my husband and i loved our room upstairs with the half bath and sink something different but cute. he had a blast in the outdoor shower as he used it twice during the stay. we grilled on the deck while watching the sunset that was wonderful as well. the pictures honestly doesn't do justice you have to experience it for your self. i was thrilled with my choice of stay at the cliff cottage and look forward to vising soon.

Heavenly

I rented the Cliff cottage as it was only 1 mile from a triathlon friends and I were competing in last weekend (June 21-23) and it was actually heavenly staying there. It was super clean, very home/country feel and having kitchen related (non-food) items available was simply the best and you CANNOT beat that view from the screened in porch. Five of us ended up staying there for the weekend with three cars and it worked out just fine. Phone reception wasn't the greatest but that is the whole town of Hague and the wifi inside the house was extremely helpful. Having the home base only 1 mile from our triathlon really made the weekend.

Outstanding Stay!

Three of us stayed at this property during Americade week and we had an absolutely terrific stay. The house has a lot of charm and character along with views that are absolutely beautiful. The decks were so nice and the enclosed one is the highlight of the property. It is so quiet at night you can hear a pin drop. The house had everything we needed and was located conveniently to the town of Lake George which we visited daily. My only regret is that I waited until the last day to try the outdoor shower, don't wait until the last day!! The lake and surrounding area are beautiful and the people we encountered were all very nice and helpful. We took a day trip to Lake Placid as well as into Vermont and enjoyed every bit. I cannot say enough about how Bruce and Sandy went above and beyond to help us out and ensure we were well taken care of and accommodated. They truly went out of their way, thanks to both of you. I would highly recommend this property and would definitely return, it was a very good experience all around.

Our family has been visiting Hague/Lake George for over 25 years and after renting this cottage for several years we made the leap to purchase in 2018. We plan to share the cottage with many repeat and new guests when we are unable to enjoy it!

Why they chose this property

Cliff Cottage sits high above Lake George, giving you a birds-eye view of the Waltonian Island group. You face east, so you have magical sunrises and moonrises. We are friendly property owners and our property managers are the former owners. We are all here to help you in anyway during your stay.

What makes this property unique

Magnificent panoramic lake views. Large screened porch and two decks. Close to Hague Beach, Dockside Landing, and Hague General Store.
