The view from the house was amazing and provided everything we needed for a quiet beach get away! The road into the house was rougher than anticipated and we were glad to have been in a truck and not the convertible. The house sustained some damage from recent storm and is in the process of being repaired. The repair work and on site materials didn’t negatively impact our stay in any way. The birds, night sky, and water view were simply beautiful!
We have stayed at this cottage a few times. The home is always cleaned and well-maintained. The location is convenient for Vehicle access to Cape Lookout national seashore. The morning sunrise views are spectacular. A restful Hideaway.
The house is really nice and clean. The views from the living room and deck were beautiful with lots of different water foul and we even saw dolphins in the early morning. It’s a super quiet neighborhood. We were a little turned off with all of the abandoned structures on the road to the house but once we got there it was like a little oasis and very private and quiet. The only issues we had was with the quality of the water at first. The owner responded quickly to our concerns about the odor of the water and remedied it in short order. Whenever the odor came back we just had to run the outside hose for a while to eliminate it. The water pump makes a lot of noise after running the water but does eventually stop. It was annoying at first but we got used to it. The above ground pool was open and the deck around it looked nice but it was too cold to use it. Overall it’s a lovely house to stay in.
We gave this trip to an employee for her 20th anniversary. Katrina was great to work with as we wanted this to be a surprise. Jody and her husband enjoyed their time away and the house was just as described.
Wonderful sunrise light streaming in every morning. Great way to start the day. Core sound. Is very tranquil to watch an occasional fishing boat pass by along with many sea birds. We have stayed here in the past to look forward to staying here again.
The house and property were immaculate, with amazing views! A thunderstorm rolled through and was amazing to watch with wall to wall windows. I absolutely love the location and privacy. Close enough, and yet just far away to enjoy some alone time. The pool is superb, sparkling clean and being able to look out at the sound was both soothing and refreshing. Could not have had better communication with the host, she answered all my questions and was very easy to communicate with. There was minimum expectations upon departure, less than most rentals require. Can't wait to be able to book another trip as soon as we can, definitely one of my favorite places to stay downeast!!

Everything as expected
Gorgeous views; amenities met all our needs. I’ve stayed in the area before so knew to meal plan ahead of time. Spent a day in Beaufort, fished off dock, kids swam in pool, could have done much more if the weather was nicer. Even with a little rain, drinking coffee on the deck with those views is exactly what I hoped for. Yes, the street is unique but everyone we spoke to was nice and it felt safe. The three dogs who explore off lease are friendly.

Fun little getaway
We had a great stay.
Pros: lots of areas to fish and crab at.
Place was clean. Pool was wonderful.
Beds were nice.
Cons: entrance driveway was awful with holes and since it rained. They were big mud holes. Glad we drove a truck.
Washer/dryer combo had no instructions to use.
Toilet seat was wobbly and would bang up against the wall when sat on.
Neighbors complained of kids in the pool yelling and playing. We are on vacation, we were having a good time.
Didn't like the security camera outside near the pool.
Lights on the stairs at night were good so we could see the small mice that would be walking up and downstairs at night. Eeeek! I'm terrified of mice. I guess they were there because of all the run down stuff and junk that was on the sides of the driveway.
Needs more storage space for clothes. There were no closets in rooms for clothes. Our clothes had to stay in the suitcase and were wrinkled.
The light from the building near the pool shined through the queen bedroom at night, which made it hard to sleep.
Stray dogs would come up in the yard every day barking at us.
Other than those cons, we had a pretty good time. Caught some nice fish at the end of the dock. Katrina was a good host. Thank you so much.
We enjoyed our recent visit and hated to leave. Such a relaxing place to stay. The view was amazing. The house was very nice inside and well kept. We will definitely be coming back!
Pros: The house looks nice inside. Pretty private, but a lot of construction work going on right near property. The glass windows make for a pretty view during sunrise. Did not smell like animals. Kitchen had plenty of cooking supplies. Towels and sheets were provided. Beds were pretty comfortable. We recommend the Island Express Ferry Service. They gave great ferry trips to the light house and were very engaging.
Cons: Water had a terrible, TERRIBLE, smell of rotten eggs. It was so foul it was difficult to take a shower and at times was hard to sit in the living room for the odor after someone showered. Had to do things we would rather not do on vacation like, drive to the dump daily. No bigger trash cans provided, so we didn't have a place to put trash and certainly did not want more nasty smells in house. If we used the pool we had to take the cover on an off, which was quite cumbersome. We weren't given a passcode until the day of the stay, which made me wonder if they simply do not change the passcode with each guest. We also did not get the large list of chores/ house rules until the day we arrived. We felt that should be provided during the cancellation period in case the rules are "too much", but that is just our opinion. There were outside cameras they said they used for when the property was vacant (which is understandable) but, it still felt weird hanging outside by the pool of deck. Paid a cleaning fee but had to strip the beds and collect the towels and put in specific area to make it convenient for the cleaning person. Plus, the morning we checked out we were told to throw stuff in washing machine and start it. Umm, cleaning fee? It was a washer drier all in one machine combo and got very hot during use so we did not feel comfortable starting it since no one would be there. The road to the property looked sketchy, we don't think it was dangerous, but not very attractive. There were a number of abandon tractors trailers, old boats and what looked like abandon buildings. If you plan to eat out you had better leave early because there is nothing close by, except a pizza place and maybe an ice cream shop. The owner could not do anything about these cons: The county was spraying (I guess for mosquitoes) when we had our dog out for his last walk at night. They sprayed over our car and us! They were also doing assessments, but were not very intrusive, but did come 2 days in a row. The cable went out. This place wasn't for us.
This is our 2nd stay and we just love this cottage. It is truly one of my favorite places on Earth. The property is super clean and equipped with absolutely everything we could have wanted or needed. The decor is modern and bright with wraparound window views to die for. The pool is awesome and just standing in the pool with such incredible views of the sound is surreal. We also love exploring the area. The people here are wonderful and friendly. That unique brogue accent is live and well in Davis, NC too.
If you are seeking blissful tranquility, a desire to bond again with nature and something a little off the beaten path, you will love this place as much as we do.
Katrina is very quick to respond, very accommodating and a wonderful host. I would recommend highly!
Thank you for sharing your property with us.
As a local business owner and a mother to a special needs young man, vacationing away from home is quite difficult for our family. So we “staycation”. This property was everything my soul needed and more! Beautiful views, fishing, crabbing, clamming…. We had two different clam chowder dinners, and feasted on rock crab claws. The sunrises and sunsets were food for my soul! We will for sure be back. ❤️🌊🎣
House was clean. Had what we needed to cook a few meals small charcoal grill for burgers
Bed comfortable. Plenty of windows and deck on three sides of house. We were at the end of the dirt road which was a mix of homes and working properties and fishing boats. No neighbors near the house. Watch sunrise from back deck
My wife and I came for the week of Thanksgiving and it was a breath of fresh air! The sunrises were amazing and it was its own little world out there. Beaufort is a short drive away for some nights out but we enjoyed the quiet time away from the hustle and bustle. Katrina the property manager was amazing and helpful with whatever questions we had. Definitely have to get back when the weather is warmer to enjoy the pool!! Thank you much!
My husband and I enjoy the home very much .
It does get hot inside . Best thing to do is bring your food and cook your meals. The ferry to the beach was amazing. I hope to come back. It does need a washer and dryer. We thank you very much. Hope to be back.
I cannot say enough good things about this place! Being familiar with Davis due to taking the ferry to Cape Lookout, I already had a feel for the area and the people. However, once you arrive at the rental you feel like you arrived in Paradise. We were blessed with gorgeous weather the entire time we were there and enjoyed being outside the majority of the day; hence, Don’t forget the sunscreen!!!
Keyless entry was great. Private pool was a major hit with the 8 year old grandson and grown son(and fiancé). Fishing on 3 sides of the house was a hit with the husband. We did bring our boat but used the public boat launch since we drove closer to our destination (wind was whipping most days which made the Core Sound choppy). Kitchen had everything needed so we ate in every night except the last one. Everything was very comfortable. Every room had its own television and air conditioner. Shower was fabulous!! Beds were very comfortable. I wish the bed in the Master had been a king as husband and dog Are bed hogs, but the sectional in the FR served as a good backup. Also, was very surprised there was not a washer/dryer.
I will definitely be looking to rent again in the future. My son and grandson did not want to leave which is the best proof ever that this was one fantastic rental!!! Thanks for sharing your home with us!
Very sweet and modern seaside cottage with gorgeous sunlight streaming through the windows. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and loved the pool and deck with the lights. Also, we arrived late in the evening so the lights under the stairs were perfect to help us see our way up to the house. We enjoyed seeing the beautiful nature and wildlife that surround the property. The only downside was that there weren't very many restaurants very close by but we trekked into Beaufort and enjoyed the town very much. We took the ferry across the sound to Cape Lookout National Seashore and enjoyed the day exploring the island and lighthouse area in a rented ATV and soaking up the sun and miles of undeveloped beach. Very much appreciated the recommendations from the owners for restaurants and stuff in the area. Loved this property and would love to visit again!
This will go down as one of THE best vacations I've ever had, bar none. I only wish we had rented for a full week (or three). Next time! If you don't require the trappings of touristy, manufactured entertainment and just want to get back to nature and all things simple and good, you need to take advantage of this tucked-away treasure. I honestly cannot stress enough how relaxing and awesome this place is. Katrina was a fantastic host and this property is stunning with all the comforts of home but with views to die for, warm summer breezes and remote enough to make an introvert like me happier than a pig in mud. =) Then there's the heated POOL! What an awesome bonus on a warm summer day. So fun and crystal clear clean. Looking out over the massive sound from the pool was unforgettable. Fishing, photography, star-gazing, swimming... what more can anyone ask? The ferry is right down the road and a visit to Cape Lookout is a must. I hesitate to rave about this rental too much more as I would like to ensure we'll be able to rent it next year and we've had so many friends ask us for the link so with that, I'll close.
Thank you, Katrina, for your generous hospitality and for also letting our 18.5-year-old little dog tag along as we don't know how many more days/months/years we have with her. It was a true blessing to be able to bring her with us.

Why they chose this property
Traveling to the core sound many times over the past years, we purchased this property because of the breathtaking views of the core sound. Many call this area a "hidden gem". The community is inviting with antique shops, local artwork, and boutiques abound. The location of this home provides access to the national seashore where you can experience private beaches and experience the core sound by boat. We've seen the best sun rises, moon reflections on the water and porpoise swimming within inches of our boat as we depart the property.
